"All dragons quickly bowed to their new queen, but they looked worried about what was happening. As far as they were concerned, they still had an emperor who had not made an appearance.

So the fact that the dragon queen was standing in front of them made them question whether they even knew what was happening anymore.

But the dragon queen did not pay any attention to anyone else’s confusion and instead declared her name and her will to correct things.

"I, Dragon Queen Veronica, will now take care of the outsider that dared to infiltrate the dragons and cause such a mess. As per my command, the fake dragon shall be killed without mercy."

The order was given, and the head of the fake dragon was separated from its body.

Kael and the others watched from the sidelines as the dragon empress did her work, and then she turned toward the other dragons.

"We all fell victim to corruption, but we are the divine race of dragons. We shall be fine even if we are corrupted a little. So do not panic and head back to your resting lairs."

At that command, more and more dragons started to head back until only Veronica and her brother were left behind. Then she turned to look at her brother, who looked half-dead. But at least he was alive even after having lost his authority.

Veronica started, only to press her lips together in agitation. She was not sure what she could even say to her brother at this point that would help him feel better. He already looked like a guilt-ridden idiot.

"Sister, I made a mistake! I should have known that the fake was not you. No, I knew that the fake was not you, but because I wanted to believe so badly that you would praise me one day, I ignored all the other obvious signs. This is all my fault!"

The male dragon sounded regretful. But the dragon queen had no intention of letting him go without being scolded a little for what he did.

"Tsk, do you think a single apology is enough to make me happy? You almost got our whole race killed off! There is no way I am going to let you off with a simple apology."

The dragon queen declared, and her brother flinched before he asked,

"Then, what do you have planned for me, Sister?"

He sounded scared, which made the dragon queen smile.

"You shall see soon enough, Brother. But don’t worry. It will be something you will be able to handle. As for what we need to do next? It’s clear! We are going to rebuild our habitat, and once we are done, we should start rebuilding our relationship as well."

The dragons had finally found a new light, and they were ready to live under a new and wiser empress. The former emperor could only sigh as he watched his sister take charge of the situation.

"Alright, I will leave this situation to you. But what about your guests...?"

Finally, Kael and the others were addressed, and Kael decided to speak up before the dragon could form his own opinion about his party.

"We have the same goal of defeating corruption, so I came to ask for your help and form an alliance. Please accept my proposal if it is not too much trouble."

Kael looked at the dragon pair in front of him, and the dragon empress sighed before she nodded.

"I shall agree to your request this time. The dragon nation will help you in times of need... as long as your side is willing to do the same."

"Of course! We are always here to help."

Lyra agreed, and the topic came to an end.

Kael and the others started helping the dragons with the reconstruction when he noticed something strange about Lyra.

She was usually her cheerful self, but her expression would change to a deeply thoughtful one once in a while. It was worrying, but the fact that she was not saying anything worried Kael even more.

He kept observing her for a while longer before he decided to corner her about her behavior.

Lyra was helping with the dragon cave’s reconstruction when Kael grabbed her shoulder and pulled her away. His actions startled Lyra enough to make her complain.

"Hey, what are you doing? Do you have a death wish or something—"

She quickly turned around with an annoyed expression, ready to kill Kael, when she paused. Her hand rested on Kael’s wrist, which had started to bruise, but she quickly let go of him.

Kael was not concerned about this small injury, but he did notice how Lyra’s eyes kept drifting toward his wrist.

"Don’t worry, I’m not injured. However, I would like to talk to you about something. Do you have time?"

Lyra looked around to avoid his eyes even as she spoke to him.

"I... about that...! Can’t you see that I am busy at the moment? Perhaps you can come back later? I mean, maybe tomorrow to talk about important stuff? I will be much freer during that time..."

She pointed out, but Kael could tell that she was still avoiding him.

When he said that Lyra was acting weird, this was what he meant. The confident demon queen was acting shy and avoiding him.

He did have a feeling why this was happening, but he did not want to jump to a conclusion without knowing the full situation.

"Lyra, it’s fine. We should talk right now while we still can. Who knows when we will have the time to talk again."

Kael told her in a firm voice, and Lyra looked cornered. Her eyes darted around before she finally sighed and decided to tell Kael what was wrong.

"Fine! Since you want to know so badly, I will tell you what is wrong. But you cannot say anything until I am done, alright?"

Lyra asked, and Kael nodded.

He had a feeling about what was coming next, but Lyra’s words still took him by surprise.
