Apocalypse Hoarder: I Have Billions in Supplies

Chapter 259 - 228: Part 2

’Will this rope actually work?’

’Probably not. But if the wolf isn’t dead yet, it might use the rope to climb up on its own... and then get chopped to bits.’

Jiang Si glanced back at the corpse, buried him in snow, then found a sturdy-looking stick nearby. After sharpening it with a stone, she set off.

It didn’t take long to get back to the ravine. Jiang Si cautiously peeked over the edge. The wolf she had knocked unconscious was awake and struggling to climb up.

Its will to live was so strong that Jiang Si almost couldn’t bring herself to eat it.

Only after confirming she could deal a fatal blow the moment she hauled it up did Jiang Si slowly lower the rope.

The snow wolf was very smart. It smelled her scent on the rope and, assuming she had ill intentions, shied far away, nearly falling back into the ravine.

Jiang Si waited patiently. Without the rope, the wolf definitely couldn’t get out.

It would have to take the risk eventually.

Jiang Si waited for about an hour before the snow wolf couldn’t sit still any longer. It crept closer bit by bit, sniffed the rope, and finally took a tentative bite, using it to pull itself up.

But just as it was about to succeed, it slid back down the icy surface.

Jiang Si nearly shouted, ’Damn it!’

The snow wolf was resilient. It kept climbing, trying again and again. After three failed attempts, on the fourth try, it finally managed to get its head over the edge.

Jiang Si had intended to finish it with her club.

But after meeting its gaze, she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.

She heaved a deep sigh and said to the snow wolf, "Fine, you can go."

After struggling the rest of the way up, the snow wolf looked at Jiang Si, and once it determined there was no danger, it walked off with a flick of its tail.

Jiang Si was starving. She started wondering where she could dig up some tasty tree bark and dried grass.

’Who knew the grass-eating experience from my past life would come in handy again one day.’

Jiang Si didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. It was all her fault for having a soft spot for fluffy things.

She searched for a good while and, after digging more than half a meter down, finally found some dried grass buried underground.

Jiang Si was chewing on it, the taste like wax, when she suddenly heard a faint noise nearby.

She looked up and saw that the wolf from before had actually returned.

And it was carrying the corpse of a snow fox in its mouth.

’It must have brought it for me to eat.’

’Oh my god, this wolf is too kind.’

Jiang Si absolutely adored fluffy things.

She walked over, processed the snow fox in a few swift moves, and then quickly used a translucent Ice Spear to light the "feast" of dried grass she had been about to eat.

The wolf stood nearby, picking at the entrails she had removed from the snow fox’s body.

It must have been starving too, as it even licked clean the blood on the ground.

After finishing the entrails, it sat quietly about ten meters away from Jiang Si.

’Is it thinking about whether it can eat me after repaying my kindness?’

Jiang Si couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. She cut the snow fox meat in half and tossed a piece to it.

It was probably the first time the snow wolf had ever seen such a foolish little creature—one that would give back half of something it had already been given.

But its hunger made the skinned snow fox meat completely irresistible.

The snow wolf was large. Its half of the hard-won snow fox vanished in just a few noisy mouthfuls, crunching through the bones until nothing was left.

At least that should take the edge off its hunger.

So, Jiang Si began to leisurely roast her own portion of snow fox meat.

She was still quite confident she could easily handle a single snow wolf.

As long as it didn’t ask for death, Jiang Si wouldn’t chase it away, considering it knew how to repay a kindness.

Soon, the snow fox meat on the fire began to emit a tempting aroma.

The snow wolf unconsciously crept closer and closer, drool dripping from its mouth.

By the time the snow fox meat was almost cooked, it was right in front of Jiang Si.

Its desperately eager expression was actually quite funny.

Jiang Si chuckled, tore off a leg, and generously tossed it to the wolf. "This is the last leg, you know!"

The snow wolf caught the leg in its mouth and bit into it as if it were the most delicious thing on earth. Its eyes shone brightly, and it deliberately slowed its pace to savor the meat.

Jiang Si also picked up her snow fox meat and began to eat ravenously. She needed to recover her strength as quickly as possible.

One bite after another. Although the snow wolf watched her with greedy eyes, it showed no intention of snatching her food. Instead, it lay down obediently, squinted, and looked as if it were dozing off.

Jiang Si was reminded of Qin Shen’s original form—fluffy, cute, and domineering, just like this.

No, his was even more domineering.

When she was full, she still had some left over, so she tossed the rest to the snow wolf.

The snow wolf, which had been on the verge of sleep, was instantly awake and ferociously devoured the rest with noisy chomps.
