The snow wolf retreated with her, but its large ears were spotted in an instant.

This caused the men to shout in alarm, "A wolf! There’s a wolf!"

The man in the lead, tired of eating grass, got a fierce look in his eyes. "What’s all the shouting for? A wolf is perfect. We can finally have some meat."

They glanced at each other, a little timid, but their desire for meat was overwhelming.

After hesitating, they chose to give chase.

In the distance, the figures of Jiang Si and the snow wolf were exposed to the men’s view.

This was an even greater temptation than delicious food or women.

The six men’s eyes were filled with greed, as if they were completely blind to the danger.

The leader suddenly pulled a pistol from his coat, aimed it at Jiang Si, and said, "Be a good girl and do as you’re told. I might spare your life."

Jiang Si’s lips curled into a smirk. "An old piece of junk, and it’s not even loaded. Who are you trying to scare?"

The man’s face instantly turned pale, his expression a mixture of shock and confusion as to how Jiang Si knew.

When the other men saw that Jiang Si was right, they immediately thought of retreating.

But before they could run, the snow wolf shot forward. In a flash, it had mauled them to death.

Jiang Si had been about to use her energy, but seeing the snow wolf excitedly devouring human flesh, she lowered her gaze and prepared to continue her search for a place to rest.

She had thought that with this "feast," the snow wolf wouldn’t follow her.

Unexpectedly, after taking a few large bites, it hurried to catch up, looking as if it intended to stick with her for good.

Jiang Si suddenly asked, "Why are you following me?"

"AWOOO~"

"I have no idea what that means," Jiang Si said with a sigh of resignation. "Fine, you can follow me. But wipe your mouth properly. It stinks."

The snow wolf understood. It stuck its hindquarters in the air, plunged its head into the snow, and rubbed vigorously until all the blood was gone.

Jiang Si stared at its broad, sturdy back and tentatively climbed on. The snow wolf didn’t seem to mind, so she directed it to find a place to spend the night.

After walking for a while, they found a suitable cave.

Something had probably lived here before.

There was even dry grass inside.

She nestled inside, and the snow wolf squeezed in after her.

It was a huge beast, making the spacious cave feel crowded.

Fortunately, it was quite warm this way.

She had just closed her eyes and was drifting off to sleep when she smelled a delicate, elegant floral scent.

Jiang Si struggled to get out, but countless roots suddenly sprouted from within the cave, binding her and the snow wolf tightly. The root’s tendrils tried to burrow into their bodies to absorb nutrients.

The instant the roots loosened, Jiang Si grabbed a dagger she had taken from the men earlier, slashed the roots apart, and broke free with the snow wolf.

Only then did she discover that it was actually a giant Snow Lotus.

It had been lying dormant under the snow. Only to catch prey did it reveal its true form.

Jiang Si immediately began to regulate the temperature. The Snow Lotus feared high heat; as long as the temperature rose, it should retreat on its own.
