Chapter 248 - 224: Giant (3)
Hayden had thought Jiang Si and her group would be impressed. He’d helped dig a path, but no one said a thing. Then he watched as Jiang Si’s Barrier Space effortlessly swept away the thick snow.
And then there was the one who could control vines, sending them into the military base to scout ahead. It seemed he was completely useless in comparison.
Hayden couldn’t help but feel dejected.
Zhang Aihua’s vines probed inside and quickly discovered something below.
As Jiang Si walked forward, the Barrier cleared away any unwanted obstacles in her path.
Hayden had thought his own abilities were quite powerful, but now he understood why they had no intention of letting his group stay.
They didn’t just have defensive abilities; they had the power to attack him, too. A single glance at the guns and ammunition slung over everyone’s shoulders made that clear.
Once the buildings destroyed by the snow were cleared away, the ones still intact came into Jiang Si’s view.
Everyone looked ahead and exclaimed in delight, "Helicopters! And off-road vehicles! Motorcycles! Patrol cars! Protective gear!"
With every word they spoke, their excitement grew.
After all, a free-for-all is always fun.
Jiang Si no longer needed to make physical contact to store things in her space.
With a flick of her finger, all the equipment that was still usable vanished into her space.
Besides these large items, there was also firefighting equipment, riot gear, and basic medical supplies.
Jiang Si secretly scooped everything up, leaving nothing behind.
This left Hayden and his people both envious and even more desperate to join Jiang Si’s group.
But Jiang Si still gave them no answer.
Continuing forward, they came to a place specifically for docking search-and-rescue boats.
Unfortunately, the weight of the snow had crushed them. The equipment was broken and damaged beyond use.
Jiang Si’s hope for a luxury yacht was temporarily dashed.
But she figured a place as big as Miduo Castle had to have one tucked away in some corner.
After scavenging the supplies, Jiang Si and her group headed for the next location.
Hayden plunged his hand into the icy sea, snatched up a handful of fish, and offered them to the group to eat before quickly hurrying to catch up.
Jiang Si’s group then arrived at a strategic supply depot. The buildings here were specially designed to keep food from spoiling or getting damp, and to prevent any pests from getting in.
But when they arrived, all they saw were mountains of bones buried under layers of snow and granaries that had been destroyed by heavy weaponry.
’Looks like there won’t be any supplies here.’
Suddenly, a horde of zombies caught the scent of Hayden’s group and burst out from the ruined buildings.
Although Hayden wouldn’t hesitate to crush a zombie underfoot, he was still deeply repulsed by them.
’He was especially worried about what would happen if a zombie bit someone of his immense size. Would he turn into a giant zombie?’
He quickly turned to Jiang Si for help. "Can you let me hide? I’m scared."
He was genuinely scared, not faking it, and he looked to be only in his teens.
Seeing zombies approaching from all sides, Jiang Si flicked her finger. Hayden was suddenly enveloped in an unprecedented warmth.
’We’re in!’
’This is incredible.’
It was like suddenly walking from a world of ice and snow into an invisible, air-conditioned room.
Hayden’s mother was also overjoyed. She pressed her palms together and said to Jiang Si, "Thank you. God bless you!"
The words had barely left her mouth when the zombies slammed into the Barrier with a wet THUD.
They stumbled backward and fell to the ground.
Jiang Si had blocked the scent of Hayden’s group. The zombies scrambled back to their feet, looking utterly confused, before turning and lurching off in another direction.
Hayden was even more amazed by Jiang Si’s power.
He watched Jiang Si with pleading eyes, desperately hoping she would let them stay.
But after leading them a short distance, Jiang Si turned to him and said, "You’re safe now. You can go."
No one wanted to leave such a warm and comfortable environment.
Hayden pleaded again, "Can you let us stay? I’ll do anything, really!"
The others seemed sincere enough. Jiang Si considered it. "If you want to stay, you have to follow orders. If you don’t listen, if you cause trouble or start fights, I will show absolutely no mercy. Understand?"
Joy instantly spread across the faces of Hayden and his group. "Thank you! Thank you! We swear on God’s name!"
’A promise made now is no guarantee for the future.’
Jiang Si never trusted promises. Her last words weren’t just for Hayden’s group; they were for Zhang Aihua and her own people as well.
’With her current power, she could crush them to death without even lifting a finger.’
