Chapter 260: Crack
In a different space.
There was a large table in the middle of an empty and isolated space, and three people were sitting around it. The entire area was separated from the outside world so that no one could hear or see anything they were discussing inside.
All three men appeared to be in their forties, but in reality, they were centuries old.
These three people were the current Three Saints of the human race.
The first was the Pope, also known as the Light Saint.
The second was an Emperor from the past, who had long since stepped away from the throne and was now known as the Lightning Saint.
The third man was the Headmaster of the Aetherium Academy, Eldric, also known as the Water Saint.
It had been many years since these three Saints had gathered together for a meeting like this.
But the situation had changed.
After Asher had openly declared war against the human race, they could no longer remain uninvolved.
For a moment, none of them said anything.
The atmosphere around the table was unusually serious, and each of them was silently thinking about the information they had received.
Finally, it was the Lightning Saint who broke the silence.
"So, someone like him has been around us for so long, and no one even noticed that something was strange about him. That is quite surprising, don’t you think?"
He said this while looking directly at the Pope.
The Pope looked straight at the Lightning Saint before replying in an annoyed voice, "What exactly do you mean by that? Do you think someone among us is working with him?"
The Lightning Saint remained calm.
"Chances are not zero."
The Pope’s expression became slightly more serious.
The Lightning Saint continued, "If what he said is really true, then perhaps some of us are actually cooperating with him. Maybe they are looking for a way to break through into a higher Realm that we currently have no knowledge about. If that man really has a method to help someone reach such a Realm, then that would be a very tempting offer, don’t you think?"
His words caused the atmosphere to become even heavier.
Neither of the other two Saints immediately answered.
It was then Eldric who finally spoke.
His voice was firm and calm as he said, "There is no Realm above Saint Rank, at least not in our world, and there is no known way to reach one. So even if that person really has a method to reach a higher Realm, it wouldn’t necessarily work."
He paused for a moment before continuing.
"The world itself wouldn’t allow it unless he destroyed the laws of the world first. And you have already seen that prophecy. He did exactly that."
Eldric looked toward both of them.
"So instead of pointing fingers at each other, would you two rather think of a way to defeat him?"
Neither Saint interrupted him.
Eldric continued, "Otherwise, you have both seen what will happen. And you already know that the world isn’t simply limiting us. It is also protecting us from something that exists beyond this world."
His expression became slightly more serious.
"If those things really enter this world, then that person won’t be the only thing we have to worry about."
Eldric continued, "He also mentioned those things himself and claimed that no other being would enter this world. But can you really believe that?"
For a moment, silence returned to the strange space.
Then it was the Lightning Saint who spoke in a curious tone.
"You really are quite knowledgeable about this, aren’t you? You really learned many things under that Dragon during all those years, don’t you think? But you still don’t share those things with us unless they are really important. Sometimes, I wonder if you are truly on the human side."
Eldric didn’t answer.
He simply remained silent, his expression calm as he continued listening.
Everyone knew that Eldric had stayed on the Beast Continent for many years and had learned many things there. His time under the Dragon had given him knowledge that even the other human Saints didn’t possess, and it was also one of the reasons he was considered more capable in certain matters despite being the youngest among the Three Saints.
The Lightning Saint watched Eldric for a moment but didn’t get any response.
He then continued, "But I still don’t understand how someone like him managed to enter our world without even that Dragon noticing. That seems very strange, don’t you think?"
His expression became more serious.
"At the very least, he should have noticed someone like him. And even now, he remains silent. Isn’t his duty to protect the balance of the world? Something like this is happening right in front of us, and he still hasn’t taken a single action."
He leaned slightly forward.
"That doesn’t make sense, Eldric. At least you should know what his stance is on this war. Is he really going to let that man rampage like this? You must have some way to contact him and ask for his opinion about all of this. Isn’t he your master? Haven’t you asked him about this matter?"
The Pope and the former Emperor both looked toward Eldric, waiting for his answer.
Eldric remained silent for a moment.
Then he calmly said, "He knew about him long ago."
As soon as Eldric said this, the expressions of the other two Saints changed.
Both of them looked at Eldric seriously.
"You knew about him?"
Eldric simply nodded.
The two Saints exchanged a glance before looking back at him.
"Then why didn’t he take any action against him or inform anyone else about him?"
Eldric remained calm as he replied, "Because we never knew he was something like this."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"We never knew that he would eventually do something like this."
Both of the Saints didn’t say anything else, but internally, both of them had become wary and suspicious of Eldric.
