Chapter 259: Punishment
Meanwhile, at the Church Headquarters, Solarius was sitting in his office with a huge pile of paperwork in front of him.
Most of the paperwork wasn’t even important.
It was just some stupid administrative work, such as servant salaries, kitchen expenses, supply records, and other irrelevant tasks that could easily have been handled by lower-ranked personnel using a computer instead of being written and processed as physical copies.
Yet, for some reason, Solarius had been ordered to do all of it himself.
Solarius was going through the paperwork with a frustrated expression, but he still didn’t stop even for a moment. He continued checking every document, signing some papers, writing down information on others, and occasionally staring at a particular document as if he wanted to burn it with his eyes.
His mood was already terrible because of everything that had happened earlier.
And now, instead of resting, he had to deal with paperwork.
Suddenly, the door opened, and someone entered the room.
Solarius didn’t even look toward the door to see who had entered because the person coming inside hadn’t concealed his presence at all.
Instead, he was openly displaying his Immortal Rank presence.
It was a man with black hair who had an appearance somewhat similar to Solarius.
The man calmly entered the room and looked toward Solarius, who was still doing his paperwork without stopping for even a moment.
The man watched him for a few seconds.
Then he smiled and laughed for a moment before saying, "Brother Solarius, so I guess it really is true."
Solarius didn’t look up.
He simply continued working and said in an annoyed voice, "Colin, leave. If you just came here to mock me, then you can leave. I’m not in the mood for that."
Colin was a Cardinal of the Church and also the half-brother of Solarius. Their mothers were different, which was also the reason they had different hair colors and slightly different appearances.
To the outside world, Colin was simply known as a Cardinal.
Very few people outside the Church knew that he was also one of the sons of the Pope.
Colin looked at Solarius for a moment before asking, "So, is it really true that someone actually declared war on the entire human race in front of you and the others? And that person was only a Master Rank?"
Solarius continued writing without looking at him.
"Yes, it’s true. And then I also killed him with my own hands later."
Colin looked at Solarius for a moment.
Then his expression became slightly more serious.
"That really doesn’t seem true. But knowing that all three Saints are having a meeting right now, I guess it really is true, even though it still seems impossible."
Solarius finally stopped writing for a second before replying in an annoyed tone, "Just believe it or don’t. I don’t care. And leave if that’s all you wanted to say."
Colin didn’t leave.
Instead, he walked over and took a seat opposite Solarius.
He looked at the huge stack of papers on the table, picked up one of them, read it for a few seconds, and then slowly placed it back where it had been.
He then smiled.
"You really have fallen this low after the mess you caused with that Demon incident. Father gave you a punishment even though everything was fixed without much trouble. I never thought I would see you sitting here making bills for kitchen groceries."
As Colin said this, Solarius stopped for a moment.
His hand remained still above the paper.
For a brief moment, he seemed to remember something unpleasant.
Then he simply continued working as if nothing had happened.
Colin noticed his reaction and smiled even more.
He continued, "Father really does give unique punishments. Simple, but somehow the most effective ones."
He paused for a moment before adding, "By the way, you also have to clean the bathrooms in all the Church facilities after all this. You do remember that, right?"
Solarius’s hand stopped again.
Colin’s smile widened.
"And you have to do it using only your hands and simple cleaning equipment. You remember that part too, right?"
Solarius finally stopped working completely.
He slowly raised his head and looked toward Colin.
Colin was now sitting there with a smug smile on his face, clearly enjoying every second of his brother’s suffering.
Solarius’s expression became darker.
"Leave this instant, bastard. I’m already in a bad mood because of what happened today. I might actually kill you."
Colin’s smile widened even further.
"Ohh, I’m really scared."
He deliberately paused for a moment before continuing.
"By the way, do you mean that beating Edward gave you when you said, ’because of what happened today’?"
As soon as Solarius heard this, all the color drained from his face. He slowly looked at Colin with an expression of complete disbelief, as if he couldn’t believe that Colin somehow knew about something that was supposed to be a secret.
Colin smiled even more and then said, "So it really is true that he beat you, called you a dog, and even shoved your own bone into your mouth."
Solarius stared at Colin in disbelief.
"How do you know this?"
Solarius was genuinely shocked. As far as he knew, no one even knew about what had happened other than Edward and Cassie. He hadn’t reported the incident to anyone, not even the Pope, because he had no intention of telling anyone about it.
Solarius then asked in an angry tone, "Who told you all this?"
Colin’s smile widened.
"A little bird told me when I was taking a walk in the garden."
He paused for a moment before casually adding, "And I also seem to have left some trash there. Be sure to clean that up after you finish all this."
Solarius’s expression twitched.
Before Solarius could say anything else, Colin simply stood up and walked toward the door.
Without saying anything further, he walked out of the room without stopping.
And then Solarius cursed internally "That bitch,how dare she do this."
