Chapter 261: Stance
Both of the Saints didn’t say anything else, but internally, both of them had become wary and suspicious of Eldric.
The fact that Eldric had known about someone like Asher and had never shared that information with them was enough to create a small doubt in their minds.
However, neither of them showed it.
They simply remained calm and didn’t press Eldric any further.
After a moment, it was the Pope who finally asked, "So, now that he has decided to do this, what is the Dragon’s take on this matter?"
Eldric replied calmly, "My clone is on his way to meet him right now. I should be able to reach him soon, and only then will I be able to say anything about his stance. So, you will have to wait for some time."
Neither of them said anything after hearing this.
They simply remained silent for some time.
The silence continued.
It was a heavy silence.
Even though everything seemed peaceful on the surface, there was already a crack between them because of what Eldric had just revealed.
And Eldric himself knew this.
But he continued to maintain a calm expression.
If he showed even a single sign of weakness here, it could become fatal for him later.
Eldric remained completely calm on the outside, but internally, he was just as confused as the other two.
He had only learned about most of what had happened after the Church informed him about the incident.
He knew that Asher was the person who had openly announced war against the entire human force, but even Eldric didn’t know about Asher’s abilities or the full extent of what he was capable of.
The only reason Eldric even knew about Asher in the first place was because of the way the Dragon had taught him to recognize him.
The Dragon had given him certain information and had specifically instructed him to report if he ever encountered someone matching that description.
Eldric had done exactly that.
He had reported Asher’s presence to the Dragon when he first learned about him.
After that, however, the Dragon never contacted him again regarding Asher.
Because of that, Eldric hadn’t paid much attention to Asher afterward.
He had assumed that whatever the Dragon wanted to do, he would handle it himself.
But now, everything had suddenly changed.
Asher had appeared before the most powerful figures of the human race, revealed his existence, and declared war on the entire human force.
And even after all of that, the Dragon still hadn’t contacted Eldric.
That was what confused Eldric the most.
’What exactly is going on?’
Eldric remained silent while thinking about it.
He didn’t know the meaning behind the Dragon’s silence, nor did he know why someone like Asher had been allowed to remain alive if he was really this dangerous for so long.
That was why he had decided to personally go toward the Dragon.He wanted to hear the answer directly from him.Only then would Eldric be able to understand what all of this truly meant.
Eldric had also not shared the fact that Asher Astrean was another vessel of the same man who had just announced war against everyone.
But in his mind, it wouldn’t have mattered much even if he had revealed it.
Even if the other Saints knew that Asher Astrean was one of his vessels, they still wouldn’t be able to find the other vessels scattered across the Continent. There was simply no way to know how many vessels Asher had or where they were currently hiding.
Eldric also didn’t want to make any decision without first asking the Dragon.
Something like this could have many consequences, especially because Asher was currently at the Academy, a place where the children of many powerful Nobles were present.
For now, Asher was remaining peaceful.
But Eldric didn’t know what he was truly capable of or what he could actually do if he decided to act.
Eldric could easily handle a Gold Rank vessel of Asher.
That much wasn’t a problem.
But the real question was whether that Gold Rank vessel was the only thing Asher currently had at the Academy.
Eldric simply didn’t know.
And he couldn’t afford to take that risk.
Because of that, he decided to leave things as they were for now.
Asher was usually peaceful and spent most of his time doing strange but harmless things, so there wasn’t much reason to believe that he would suddenly do something like this.
Still, Eldric couldn’t completely ignore the possibility anymore.
What surprised him the most was Asher himself.
Never in his wildest dreams had Eldric imagined that the kid who had once come to him simply to improve the food menu of the Academy would eventually do something like this.
He still remembered how casually Asher had talked about food back then.
And now that same kid had stood before the strongest figures of the human race and declared war on them.
Even now, despite knowing that everything was true, Eldric still found it difficult to believe.
After some time, Eldric’s expression suddenly changed.
The other two Saints immediately noticed it, and they understood what it meant.
His clone had reached the Grimwood Continent and was currently talking with the Dragon.
No one said anything for a moment.
The silence continued as they waited for Eldric to finish receiving whatever information his clone was bringing back.
After some time, Eldric finally turned his gaze toward the other two Saints and said, "He has said that he will not take any action in this matter. We have to handle everything ourselves if we really want to stop him."
He paused for a moment before continuing.
"Because the moment he interferes, even in the slightest, the small chance we currently have of defeating him will disappear completely. And the only way we can kill him is when he tries to break through, and all of his other vessels have already been killed."
