Chapter 195: Church Facility
Church Facility.
Asher’s vessel woke up and, after getting ready, made his way to the cafeteria.
He sat down and began eating his breakfast, mostly ignoring the strange looks people were giving him. After what had happened yesterday, when he had destroyed his plate, some of the people in the cafeteria were now looking at him as if he were a rather strange person.
Asher simply continued eating as if nothing had happened, paying no attention to the weird looks directed toward him.
Asher then continued with his usual routine.
He worked with Dr. Samuel in Room 4, where the experiment was now almost complete. Most of the major stages had already been finished, and only a few final tests remained. They needed to run these last tests on the subjects to determine which method would produce the most stable and effective results.
For the time being, they continued testing the parasite on the human subjects.
After completing another round of testing, Asher began working on extracting the parasite from one of the subjects. The procedure was progressing normally at first, but something went wrong during the extraction, and the subject suddenly died.
Dr. Samuel immediately noticed the change and looked toward Asher for a moment. He didn’t say anything at first, seemingly trying to understand what had happened, before finally asking, "That’s unusual for you. You don’t usually make mistakes. Is everything alright?"
Asher remained calm and answered without hesitation, "Nothing. I’m fine. I was just thinking about lunch. I’m getting hungry."
Dr. Samuel stared at him for a moment before letting out a low laugh.
"Oh, you’re hungry? I can understand that not everyone is like me. I also heard the food was a little too hard for you yesterday that you even destroyed a plate."
Asher looked at Dr. Samuel and thought inwardly, ’As expected. They are even keeping watch while I’m eating.’
He then replied calmly, "Yeah, it was a little too hard yesterday."
Dr. Samuel simply laughed before saying, "I see. Well, mistakes can happen. There’s nothing to worry about if some of them die."
He paused for a moment before looking around the room and continuing, "Since we’ve almost completed the research, and you’ve worked so hard on it, you deserve a little celebration. So, you can eat whatever you want today. I’ll even speak to the cafeteria head and make sure you can order anything you want for the next week."
Dr. Samuel then added, "Once you’ve finished your work here, you can leave as usual. You’ve done more than enough for the project."
After saying that, Dr. Samuel and Klein began walking toward the exit.
Asher watched them leave, his gaze remaining on the door for a few seconds after it closed.
He then returned to his work and thought inwardly, ’No need for that celebration. I’m going to be free soon anyway.’
He continued working until he had finished everything that needed to be done. Once there was nothing else requiring his attention, Asher prepared to leave.
However, before walking out of the room, he stopped for a moment.
His gaze first moved toward the female empath demon, who remained in the room, and then toward the corpse of the subject who had died during the extraction.
Asher stared at the two for a few moments without saying anything. There was no need for him to stay any longer.
He then turned around and quietly left the room, closing the door behind him.
After Asher left the room, the female empath demon remained behind to take care of everything that was left.
She first used her mana to carefully move the surviving test subjects back to the section where they were normally kept. Once they were returned to their designated places, she made sure everything was properly secured before turning her attention toward the corpse of the subject who had died during the extraction.
The demon then used her mana to lift the corpse and carried it toward another section of the facility.
That area was used to store the corpses of subjects who had died during the experiments. Numerous corpses were already present there, each one placed in the designated area after their respective experiments had been completed.
The empath demon placed the newly deceased subject among the others and briefly checked the area to make sure nothing had been left behind.
Once everything had been taken care of, she closed and sealed the corpse section before leaving the area.
After some time had passed, the corpse that had just been moved into the section suddenly moved.
Its eyes opened, and the figure slowly looked around.
Numerous corpses were scattered throughout the area, most of them being Silver-rank cultivators who had been used as subjects for the experiments.
Asher carefully observed his surroundings and made sure that no one was watching the area. Only after confirming that he was alone did he finally relax slightly.
’It’s a good thing the demon didn’t notice anything unusual about the corpse. Otherwise, this would have been a real pain.’
Asher had deliberately caused the subject’s death.
While pretending to extract the demon, he had actually been using the opportunity to transform the corpse into one of his vessels. He had carefully concealed the process, making sure that no one could sense anything unusual.
Fortunately, no one had noticed.
Now, Asher was finally present in the place where he needed to be.
However, there was one problem.
The cultivation of the corpses stored in this section was far too low. Most of them were only Silver Rank, making them practically useless for what Asher had planned.
He didn’t have enough time to gradually increase their cultivation either. The section was sealed away and had very little mana available, making cultivation here extremely slow.
Asher looked around the area and thought, ’This is going to be troublesome. I don’t have the time to raise their cultivation from this level.’
He would need to find another way.
