Chapter 155 Acting Normal
I glance at the wall clock once again, it shows that I have exactly an hour and thirty-five minutes left before my flight. That means this place would become a madhouse again because I plan to leave in the next twenty minutes whether or not his guardians or whatever shows up. "You still have a knack for dealing with them." Ms Tilda compliments.
"Thank you so much again. I don’t know what I would have done on my own. I was so confused, and it just happened that both of my assistants decided not to show up today." She pauses to angrily huff. "I’m firing their asses over the phone later. Please do reconsider taking their place, hmmm?"
There she goes again. This woman has not yet given up on wanting to drag me back here. "You are the one who should do reconsiderations on firing your employees, because I will never be taking that offer." I tried my possible best not to let my irritation come out to make that response sound rude.
Her expression fell into sad and disappointed one, "But why? You are really good at it, even more so than me. Look, he hasn’t cried at all since you held him. I couldn’t manage him before you arrived."
"Then close the daycare if you’re not up for it anymore. Or go on a vacation." I strongly suggest.
"If I do that, then I will be lonely. I will keep doing this until the day I die.
There is a kind of feeling that comes with being around them. It’s like fulfilment and peace. I can’t go away from this feeling ever." She states with a genuine, happy smile plastered on her face. This place is just like a home for Ms Tilda. She used to be married, but she had gotten divorced. Her husband left her because she couldn’t conceive. She says it is her fault, that she had an abortion procedure when she a teenager and her womb somehow got damaged in the process. That is why she built up this Daycare center to be around kids all the time.
"Have you gotten in touch with any of them yet?" I ask about the baby’s guardians.
"No, it’s still negative. The sister’s line is going through, but she is not picking up. I have left her countless missed calls." She complains. I sigh exasperatedly again.
How could someone just forget that they have a kid at a daycare? Are they planning to abandon him? I glance at him, he flashes me a big smile that strongly tugs at my conscience. I really hope not, I thought with a sigh.
One would have to be really heartless to abandon this cute little thing. Especially as his parents.
"You’ll have to call the police then." I say. We had come up with that idea a while ago, but she said to wait a little. "I will soon. The sister has never been late to pick him up before. Do you think something bad might have happened to her?"
"Possibly. But what about the parents?"
"That is another—wait, there she is!" I was shocked to see Gweneth. She looks even more shocked to see me. She runs and drag the baby away from my arm. "What are you doing with him?
Hurting me is not enough, you want to come after him too?" She barked at me.
Baby brother? "I--"
I had started, before Mrs Tilda stepped in to calm the situation. "Calm down, there is obviously some sort of misunderstanding here. He is—"
"Don’t let this bastard come near my brother ever again!" Mrs Tilda flinches at her shout,
Gweneth pins the death glare on me again. "I don’t know how you found out about him. But let this be the very last time you do this. I won’t let you get away with hurting him. Try anything, and I will make sure to send your dirty soul to hell!" The intensity of her words and glare still lingered heavy on me even after she leaves.
"That was venomous." Mrs Tilda exclaims with a hand on her chest. "I almost got a heart attack. Do you two know each other?"
GWENETH
The rage from earlier is still simmering inside me. How dare he? He sexually abused me just earlier and he maliciously went after my brother? How did he know about him?
I am going to kill him if he touches Percy or come near him at all. I would not mind having to get my hands dirty and become a murderer and going to jail if that happens. I brushed my teeth like crazy using insane amounts of toothpaste over and over again until my gums were sore and bleeding. I didn’t feel hurt by it one bit. I expected pain but there wasn’t.
Maybe I’m just too numb to feel it. If anything I was a glad because blood tasted so much better than semen.
The killing rage simmered into deep, depressing hurt after a while. The most hurtful thing for me was being unable to express it. I had to act normal when Dad came home early even though he had said that he would be coming late. He asked about why I did not go to pick Percy up on time and I lied that I was occupied with swim training and then I lost track of time and my phone battery died.
He scolded me a little about it and was overjoyed about the inner state swimming competition. I had to fake being overjoyed as well. I had not made dinner thinking Dad would not be coming. And I wasn’t in the mood nor did I have any appetite for food. I don’t think I would be able to eat again with this mouth. If only it is possible to get another one. But it is not.
I had to normally make dinner. I wanted to make fry eggs to add to the croissants bread that we had, but there are no eggs. So I had to go with sandwich.
