Chapter 156 What About Her?
Dad said I had added too much mayonnaise and asked if everything was alright with me. He said I paid too much attention to cooking and haven’t messed up a meal since eleven years old when I was still learning how to cook. There is no way I could really tell him what was wrong. I told him that I was feeling a little cold from being in the swimming pool and training for long hours at school.
I forced myself to take a few bites of sandwich, and tried to seem cheerful by making up stories about funny things that never happened at school to throw him off his observation.
Mom scolded the hell out of me when she called. She had also gotten a call from the daycare. I also gave her the same cooked up excuse I had given Dad. Sandwiches are not exactly my favorite snacks to eat, but I still like them so much. But the I had just now tasted awful. I don’t know if it is me or if it’s because. . . . .
Maverick sent a text saying he is sorry and that Calix threatened him and he had no choice. I texted back. «Of course you didn’t.»
I can’t say that I blame him even though I’m deeply hurt. But it gets even more heartbreaking when I recall that the reason and how I had gotten involved with Calix in the first place was because of him. I’m a fool who disrupted my own plans for a peaceful school life. I didn’t obey my planned thoughts of keeping my head down. I should have just kept my mouth shut and pretended not seeing it.
As for Rex, I just hope that he stays away from me now. Same with Maverick. I don’t even have the strength to hope or be afraid of what Calix would do next. I’m numb, feeling irreparably broken. "So much for besties pledge." I mutter, crying myself to sleep.

Curtis and Lucas were in the hospital room with Rex when Dom suddenly barged in.
"Dude, what the hell! This is a hospital room!" Curtis scolds. He had almost dropped his computer because of the shock.
Dom does not respond, he walks silently to the bed where Rex is and tries to wake him up, but Rex did not even bulge, seeming to be unconscious. He turns to the two, asking what had happened because he thought Rex was supposed to get discharged today. He had been waiting at the house for him to arrive so he confess to him on how he had helped Calix manipulate the race.
After waiting long, He then decided to call Lucas who told him that they were still in the hospital and that he wouldn’t be getting discharged according to the former arrangements. "They discovered that his appendix is almost ruptured and performed emergency surgery on him. They brought him back not long ago." Lucas answers.
"Why all of a sudden?" Dom blurts out. He had been really hoping to let Rex know everything.
Curtis shrugs, "It just happened. And it’s good that they discovered it now and took it out of him. Hs life could’ve been endangered once again." Dominic tries to wake him up but was stopped by Curtis. "Stop it, he won’t wake up. He is still under anesthesia."
"Fuck!" Dom yells out in frustration. "I really wanted to talk to him!"
"About what? It better not be about the blowjob right?" Dom’s silence says yes to the assumption.
"Are you crazy? Don’t even think it about it. It would be insensitive to bring that up to him. He is not going to take that well in his condition.
When he wakes up and asks you about Gweneth, tell him that she is okay. And that Calix has left to see his uncle and that nothing happened. That’s what Lucas and I said when he asked us. We also blocked her on his phone so she wouldn’t call him." Dom stares at Curtis incredulously.
"How could you all be like this?"
"Like what?"
"Being cool with what Calix did earlier. Acting like it isn’t wrong!"
"Okay, it might’ve been wrong but who cares? It’s none of our business to interfere. It is between the both of them, and he won the bet. We can’t interfere with whatever he does with her even if we want to. You know how much we respect bets." Lucas thought that Dom was acting oddly emotional because of that.
Dom contemplates before saying, "It was manipulated. He didn’t win the bet. We manipulated it."
"Hold on, what does that mean?"
"Guys! You need to see this!" Curtis worriedly calls Dom and Lucas’s attention to come look at the computer. "What happened?" Lucas asked upon seeing the disturbed look on Curtis’s face. "I accidentally upload the video."
"What video?"
"The one with Calix and Gweneth."
"Then hurry and delete it, what are you doing?"
"I’m trying but it’s not working, look! The system has been hit with Ransomware. I have been trying to get rid of it since five minutes ago but it’s not working."
Dom fires at him, "How could you do that now?"
"It was a mistake. I accidentally posted it along with the sports shorts on my vlog!" He frets. Lucas grabs the computer and also tries to get rid of the virus despite being aware that Ransomware is not that easy to remove.
"It’s not working. You’ll have to go home and get one of the computers to get into your vlog and delete it."
"But what if the video spreads by then?"
"That’s why you have to get going now, you idiot!"
"Okay." Curtis grabs his jacket and car keys and runs out.
Dom lets out a mirthless laughter. "He just drove the final nail in the coffin. Why did he have to take a video in the first place."
"It wasn’t his fault." Lucas tries to brush it off. "And Calix might not even mind it."
"Oh yeah, but what about Gweneth?"
