Chapter 449 - 448: What the World Heard
Location:Multiple — Blackhawk Guild, Wu Estate, Imperial Palace, Long Compound, Seven Peaks
Date/Time:TC1855.05.05-07
Commander Arwen Drake read the briefing at her desk in the Blackhawk Guild’s eastern field office, sixty kilometers north of Seven Peaks.
She read it once for content. Twice for implications. Three times for the thing that wasn’t written — the gap between what the briefing said and what it meant for everyone who depended on the eastern trade routes, the garrison patrols, the intelligence infrastructure that kept half the Empire’s commercial network functioning.
Then she stood, crossed to the communication array, and sent three messages in ninety seconds.
The first went to the Guild’s central command in the Imperial City: full mobilization of eastern scout teams, verification protocol, all active contracts in the eastern districts suspended pending security assessment.
The second went to her four regional coordinators: scout teams east by dawn. Standard reconnaissance configuration — two cultivators, two trackers, one formation specialist per team. Primary objective: independent verification of garrison status at all five named installations. Secondary: civilian assessment of eastern district conditions. Do not approach within ten kilometers of the organic growth perimeter under any circumstances.
The third went to Raven: Received. Moving. Will have independent verification within the week. — Drake
She didn’t question the intelligence. She’d seen what Seven Peaks produced — the Federation assault, the broadcast, the War Games, the independence declaration. Raven didn’t send warnings for practice. If the briefing said five garrisons were compromised, and an organic growth perimeter was expanding at fourteen times its previous rate, then five garrisons were compromised, and something was growing faster than anyone had planned for.
Drake pulled her field coat from the hook by the door. Buckled her sword belt. Walked out into the pre-dawn darkness toward the staging area where her personal scout team was already assembling, because the communication array’s activation tone was the Guild’s equivalent of a fire bell and her people slept light.

Lord Hadrian Wu received the message at the Wu estate in the Third Ring at midday.
