Book 1 of Rebirth of the Technomage Saga: Earth's Awakening

Chapter 448 - 447: The Thread That Breaks

Location:Seven Peaks — Command Center

Date/Time:TC1855.05.01-03

Kael delivered the last three garrison reports on the first day of the fifth month.

He didn’t come to the command center — he sent them through Thorne, sealed in Shadow Pavilion pouches, with a single-page summary on top in his own handwriting. The summary was clinical. Three garrisons. Three identical transitions. The institutional capture pattern confirmed across the full arc.

Raven read the summary standing at the progress board. Thorne stood at the wall map. The privacy formations hummed.

Ashwick — thirty-five kilometers. Transition in TC1854.10. One month after Ironmere. Perfect administrative output commencing month ten. Zero human variance.

Dunmere followed at fifty kilometers. TC1854.11. Same pattern. Same perfection. Same absence of anything human.

Hartwatch was the last. Seventy kilometers. TC1854.12. The outermost garrison in the crescent. The final domino in a cascade that had taken five months to complete and four more to notice.

Five garrisons. Five months. A cascade that began at Greymere — eight kilometers from the Sanctum, TC1854.08 — and rippled outward at twelve to fifteen kilometers per month until every Imperial military installation within seventy kilometers had been captured, converted, and set to producing the paperwork that kept the Empire’s intelligence apparatus blind.

Kael’s summary noted the completion date: approximately TC1854.12. Four months ago. The eastern information corridor had been fully compromised since the turn of the year, and nobody in the capital had noticed because the reports kept arriving on schedule.

Raven set the summary on the table. Looked at the map where Thorne had marked all five garrisons — five pins in an arc, radiating from the Sanctum like the fingers of an opening hand. Greymere. Ironmere. Ashwick. Dunmere. Hartwatch.

"Four months," she said.
