Chapter 454 - 228: The End of the War, the Fall of the Divine Spirit
His last words were filled with obvious hesitation.
After all, that Golden Oak Tree was clearly at the fifth level. It was unthinkable that it could be the servant of a Level 4 Wizard.
But if that weren’t the case, why would Pei Ze allow a fifth-level Golden Oak Tree to take up residence in his Wizard Tower?
Yin Xue couldn’t hide the shock on her face either.
Ever since the war began, Pei Ze had delivered one shock after another, leaving her feeling almost breathless.
Even now, she still hadn’t quite recovered.
"That Golden Oak Tree should be a creature from the Ancient Forest Plane," Yin Xue said hesitantly.
"How so?" Lu Yan asked curiously.
Yin Xue explained what had happened on the Ancient Forest Plane.
Upon hearing her explanation, it dawned on Lu Yan. He finally understood why both an Ancient Tree Deer Spirit and a Golden Oak Tree had appeared in Pei Ze’s Wizard Tower.
But immediately after, his brow furrowed again.
"I heard from my teacher that not long ago, two other planes also fell victim to the alien insects. In just three or four years, three planes have already been occupied by them. They’ve been abnormally active lately."
Shaking his head, Lu Yan reined in his thoughts.
This wasn’t something a mere Level 4 Wizard like him could worry about. Such matters were for the great figures of the Dawn Council, the Councillors themselves.
As time passed, both sides of the war suffered heavy casualties.
The Spell Towers of most Wizard Towers had ceased their attacks. Their energy consumption was clearly too great, and they were now forced to conserve what they had left.
Only the Spell Towers of a dozen or so Medium-sized Wizard Towers were still roaring continuously.
"Tower Spirit 1, how much energy is left in the Element Pool?"
"Element Pool energy currently remaining: 14.71%."
"Cease the Spell Tower attacks," Pei Ze ordered without hesitation.
The remaining energy in the Element Pool was only enough to keep the Wizard Tower afloat and the Thunder God Golems operational; it could no longer support the enormous consumption of the Spell Towers.
As for the reserve energy in the over-capacity device, that was for emergencies. Pei Ze didn’t plan to use it now.
Outside the Wizard Tower, the Golden Rune Array surrounding its body trembled lightly, then quickly dimmed and disappeared.
Although the attacks from the Spell Towers were gone, it didn’t have a major impact on the battle.
By this point in the war, the Prayerers had already suffered devastating casualties.
From the depths of the Divine Kingdom, there were no longer dense, seemingly endless swarms of Prayerers pouring out.
As far as the eye could see, only about forty to fifty thousand Prayerers remained on the battlefield.
Although this number still far exceeded that of the golems, it was no longer of much use.
The Wizards’ goal was to slaughter the Prayerers in large numbers to weaken Rose’s power.
And this goal was now mostly accomplished.
Pei Ze could feel that the oppressive might originating from the Divine Kingdom that surrounded him had weakened significantly.
He looked up into the distance. Lights flashed across the sky, and wave after wave of surging, majestic energy fluctuations raged unabated.
Even from a great distance, one could feel its heart-stopping power.
That was the battlefield of Rose and the four Sixth-level Wizards.
’After fighting both the Divine Abomination and the Silver Moon Maiden, she can still hold her own against four Sixth-level Wizards piloting large Wizard Towers. Is this the power of a Middle-tier Deity? If a Middle-tier Deity is this powerful, just how terrifying must a High-tier Deity be, let alone the legendary gods above gods?’
Pei Ze sighed to himself in amazement.
If Middle-tier Deities were this powerful, just how terrifying must High-tier Deities be, let alone the legendary gods above gods?
Just as Pei Ze was lost in thought, an enraged and startled voice suddenly rang in his ears.
"Vampire!"
The voice spread throughout the entire Divine Kingdom like a rolling thunderclap, its fury and killing intent almost tangible.
It was Rose’s voice!
Pei Ze focused his gaze and saw that the sky in the far distance had, at some unknown point, been dyed a blood-red. It exuded a heavy, cold, and bloody aura, a crimson so stark it was almost blinding.
Pei Ze understood at once.
Annie had made her move!
After lying in wait for so long, this unfathomable Vampire Wizard had finally acted on her promise and struck at Rose.
The Spider Goddess couldn’t have been unaware of Annie’s presence and must have been prepared. Yet, judging by her voice, she had still suffered a great loss at Annie’s hands.
The crimson in the sky quickly faded, and the cold, bloody aura vanished.
Annie was true to her word, striking only once before leaving without any hesitation.
A portion of the Divine Abomination’s corpse also vanished at the same time.
A good portion of the pile of minced flesh on the ground was gone.
RUMBLE!
Deafening rumbles came from the distant sky, and the energy fluctuations grew even more intense.
The four Wizards pressed their advantage, intensifying their assault.
For a moment, the attention of all the other Wizards on the battlefield was drawn to it.
Everyone knew that the most critical moment was at hand.
If the four Sixth-level Wizards failed to kill Rose, what awaited them was a crushing defeat and a desperate rout. It was hard to say how many of the Wizards present would even survive.
Conversely, if the four Sixth-level Wizards were victorious, then this battle would be a bountiful harvest for them.
The value of a Divine Spirit’s corpse was far greater than that of all the dozens of Wizard Towers present combined.
Many Wizards wore expressions of nervousness and apprehension.
Pei Ze, however, was quite calm.
Most Wizards were cautious and careful, and those who reached the Sixth Level were even more so.
’My teacher and the others must have been confident to move against Rose. It might not have been a guaranteed victory, but they must have had at least a seventy or eighty percent chance of success. Even if they failed, they were surely confident in their ability to escape the Divine Kingdom. Of course, failure would mean unavoidable, heavy casualties. But I’m confident I won’t be one of them. Isn’t that what the reserve energy in the over-capacity device and the Power of Rules deep within my Sea of Consciousness are for?’
The battle on the field was still ongoing, but Pei Ze had most of his attention focused on the distant fight.
After an unknown amount of time, the energy fluctuations in the sky suddenly intensified, raging like a violent storm, before rapidly diminishing.
The hearts of all the Wizards present leaped into their throats, and they stared into the distance with wide eyes.
A sigh seemed to echo from the void.
At that moment, a strange, indescribable feeling suddenly welled up from the depths of every Wizard’s heart.
It was as if they had lost something, a hollow, sorrowful feeling.
This was not their true emotion, but an inevitable influence from the Dimension Space, as they were within the Divine Kingdom.
At the same time, an eerie purple flame ignited on all the Prayerers on the battlefield. They let out bloodcurdling screams, and in a short while, were reduced to ash in the flames.
In just an instant, tens of thousands of Prayerers were completely wiped out.
Seeing this, the Wizards understood at once, and expressions of wild joy bloomed on their faces.
It was obvious: Rose had fallen!
They had won the war!
A smile appeared on Pei Ze’s face as well.
Beneath his joy, he was also filled with a complex sense of emotion.
The Spider Queen was a very famous Divine Spirit in the Multiverse. She single-handedly created the Dark Elf race, striking fear into the hearts of countless civilized races.
In her long struggle with the Silver Moon Maiden, she had always held the upper hand, even forcing the Silver Moon Maiden to not dare leave her plane for fear of being ambushed and killed by the Spider Queen.
And yet, such a powerful Divine Spirit had now fallen within her own Divine Kingdom.
And the cause was merely an ancient Divine Abomination breaking free from its seal.
The series of events that followed ultimately led to the fall of a Middle-tier Deity.
Although there were many external factors in Rose’s death, the true main force was still the four Sixth-level Wizards, including Mo Weng.
’If just four Sixth-level Wizards can orchestrate the fall of a Middle-tier Deity, doesn’t that mean the Rule Wizards with their Floating Cities could kill one with ease? No wonder the three Divine Spirits of the Turin Plane, even when working together, didn’t last five years against the onslaught of Chenxi City and Red Lotus City.’
This gave Pei Ze a renewed appreciation for the power of High-tier Wizards.
"The Divine Kingdom is about to collapse! Everyone evacuate immediately!"
The Red-haired Wizard’s voice rang in his ears.
Pei Ze snapped back to his senses and looked around.
At the far end of the horizon, large-scale collapses began to appear. Space itself seemed to be kneaded into a ball, constantly compressing and contracting, swallowing all the land and webs.
Pei Ze’s heart went cold. He no longer hesitated and quickly recalled all the Thunder God Golems.
Tining and Leiot also returned to the Wizard Tower.
Accompanied by dull whistling sounds, dozens of Wizard Towers quickly shot out of the Divine Kingdom.
Before long, the vast Divine Kingdom completely collapsed into a black hole the size of a fist, which then vanished completely.
The Spider Demon Web, which had once resounded throughout the Multiverse, was, from this moment on, completely relegated to history.
