Chapter 117 - 169
"We applaud your triumphs, to think that you’ve made it this far despite having faced off the fourth of the twenty lieutenants of the demon king general Lamia."
Multiple demons started clapping, and the demons from the surrounding area froze.
They weren’t making any loud noises, not even a single step or flap of a wing was heard.
It was almost as if they were all afraid of these demons.
Lifting my finger, I started counting how many of them there were.
"One... four... six... seven... ten... fifteen."
There are fifteen lieutenants.
Stabbing her blade into the ground, Incus glared.
"All lieutenants, engage in combat and defeat these fiends as soon as possible. Delay is punishable by death."
At her words, multiple generals jumped to the front including the air walker.
Without as much as a second of delay, the sound of battle erupted.
All of the lieutenants had their own specialized weapon but none of them used a cape like the one that had just been finished off from earlier.
A lieutenant with a sword with screaming mouths launched down at the club wielding mage.
They were engaging in fierce combat as the screaming sword was spitting out a sort of black mucus that had incredibly strong acidic properties.
With the help of the airwalking general, the both of them were assisting each other with perfect unison.
The screaming sword then shrieked and bodies with frail bodies and black skin climbed out of the mouths of the blade.
Flying forward at the iron club mage and the air walker, the black bodies exploded when they had received a singular blow.
However when they did, the same black mucus from earlier started to corrode their armory.
One of the air walker’s scissor blades started glowing the same hue of color when he launched that cleaving attack.
Running on air, he pushed the lieutenant back.
Exchanging a clash of swords, the iron club mage had cast a spell to greatly enhance his strength.
Overpowering the demonic lieutenant, a cleaving light flew through the air and the demon before them had been severed diagonally in two.
"Don’t get so over confident, there are still fourteen of us!"
Shifting my attention to look at the other battles, a general figure was wielding a great sword without much effort.
Upon closer inspection, it was one of the generals earlier in the cave. Squinting my eye, I noticed that the general was a little girl.
How is this even allowed, I know that this is a fantasy world but come on? Who in the world would recruit someone who hasn’t even gotten through puberty.
Because she didn’t have the ability to fly, the girl had no choice but to use the surrounding environment to jump around and attempt an attack.
However, because she pauses for a brief second before jumping, it gives a lot of leeway for the demonic lieutenant that she was fighting to see the telegraphing of the attacks.
Dodging with small adjustments, the lieutenant scoffed:
"Is this really all that you can do? Oh general of humans, if this is all that you humans have to offer then it really is such a shame... you’re still far too young to take me on. Perhaps graduate from kinderschool before you attempt a battle that’s far beyond you."
Seeing that the demon was grinning with belittlement, the little great swordswoman jumped up.
Of course, she missed but as she was in the air, she threw the blade, catching the lieutenant off guard.
"Orgh!" The demonic lieutenant staggered, struggling to keep himself afloat due to the large hunk of metal that penetrated his entire torso.
"You think that this will kill me–!" The lieutenant pointed to a staff that was preparing to launch an attack with incredible mana, "Shadow swallow spider!"
Multiple threads of shadow spells weaved like a web and attacked the little girl general.
Raising her fists to protect herself, she was too far from anything to land and propel in order to dodge.
Just as the web of spells were about to hit her, the air walker sprinted with incredible speed and decapitated the lieutenant, cancelling the spell.
Falling to the ground, two smoke clouds rose up.
One from the little girl general and one from the lieutenant demon.
Pulling her blade out of the demon’s corpse, she jumped on the air walker’s shoulder and they joined the iron club mage who was engaging in combat against two lieutenants.
Where the hell are the other generals?
Anyhow, the two lieutenants that she was battling had matching weapons.
They were wielding large demonic looking bows with a fierce aura surrounding them.
Pulling back the bow, hundreds of arrows had been fired within just a second.
With expressionless faces, the demons opened their mouths, finishing each other’s sentences:
"You cannot."
"Defeat us."
"We are the strongest."
"Bowmen, attempting to defeat us is."
"Arrogance."
Scratching the back of her head, the iron club mage enhanced herself with a burst of mana before disappearing life a shadow when the lights have been turned on.
With incredible speed, she was circling around the two of them.
Aiming their bows, the two lieutenants couldn’t get a clear sight of her so they started to shoot seemingly at random.
However, I noticed something.
It wasn’t completely at random, they were shooting in a spherical shape.
But even so, it wasn’t enough to catch the iron club mage who was simply too fast.
The little girl and the air walker ran past her and decided to help the other lieutenants.
"W-What the hell is that!" Vertere’s mouth jittered with horror.
Looking at what he was looking at, my eye widened.
The lieutenants were merging together to become a grotesque demon with a set of wings that resembled biblically accurate angels.
When the merged lieutenant extended one of its large arms, a weapon that was made of multiple kinds of weapons appeared.
"This was meant for the hero Incus but play time is over."
