[Chapter 163: The last barrier (2)]
"Urgh." Staggering back, Levis wanted to run for his life but if he did then Rose will be in danger.
"Levis, your arm!" Rose extended her hand but was gently pushed away.
"Don’t worry, this is nothing but a scratch."
When Levis turned to face her, Rose’s face grew pale.
"Strange, you’ve gotten shorter." Levis chuckled but he then grabbed his mouth, "What the, what happened to my voice? It’s suddenly deeper."
"...Please. Don’t do this, just run away. Everything is over for me, my family’s shop had been destroyed... I have no future. But you do, so please just run away..! If you keep using that power of yours then you will become an old man!" Rose pleaded.
"Shut up..! I won’t abandon you, we will get out this alive. The both of us. Even if I become a frail old man after then, I won’t leave you." Levis then began walking towards the hoard of goblins, leaving the teary eyed girl hiding behind the sacks of rice.
"I sacrifice one week of my life!" Levis proclaimed.
Running at the goblins, he threw a smashing punch.
Not just one but multiple goblins had been eviscerated.
"I sacrifice one week!" Levis threw another smash.
Wave after wave of goblins, Levis gritted through the pain, through the fatigue.
His body was on the brink of failing.
***
Soon, the goblins had stopped attacking. Levis had defeated them all, but the crimson sky still remained the same.
"...Impossible, but I’ve killed all of them—!" Suddenly, a hobgoblin slammed a giant wooden club at Levis.
"Ack!" Slamming into the sacks of rice, Levis squinted his eyes open.
The sight before him was truly frightening.
A giant goblin had torn through the entire wall with just a measly swing of it’s wooden club.
The damage would have been fatal if Levis didn’t sacrifice a day of his lifespan before hand.
Even so, a large bruise was painted across his body.
The impact of the blow was strong enough to rip through his clothes, the only remaining piece of cloth being his torn pants.
"A-Are you okay?" Rose questioned worryingly.
Blocking out Rose’s words, Levis focused solely on the enemy before him.
If he runs then Rose will die, but he’s spent so much of his life killing multiple goblins already.
Victory isn’t shining down on him.
Playing multiple scenarios through his head, Levis found only one solution.
"I sacrifice—" But before Levis could continue his chant, the hobgoblin had grown bored and lunged at them.
"One month!" Levis then smashed the hobgoblin’s wooden club, making it explode into splinters.
If Levis had decided to dodge, Rose would have most definitely died.
Levis couldn’t hear, but Rose was shouting in outrage about how he could spend one month of his life so recklessly.
"Kyree!" The hobgoblin roared, wildly swinging his arms around at Levis.
Barely moving out of the way to dodge, Levis jumped up into the air.
"I sacrifice one year!"
Throwing a punch, Levis knew that one year was too much but if he under calculated the amount of time he had to sacrifice then it would have been for nothing.
Killing the hobgoblin, the crimson sky gradually turned back it’s original hue of blue.
Stepping outside the sacks of rice, Rose walked up to Levis.
Touching his chest, she began to sob.
"You’ve gotten so old." Rose trembled.
Forcing a gentle smile on his face, Levis said:
"Come on, let’s see if there’s anybody else."
At the age of thirteen, he had become twenty.
***
Back at the present, chieftain Levis relived some of his old memories.
However he did have one regret.
’I should have spent more time with rose.’ Thought Levis, as he inched closer to the supreme brute demon.
After the incident of his village, Levis acted as his guardian and placed Rose under an orphanage by some hotshot knight.
Levis himself explored the kingdoms to destroy any lingering demons that threatened humanity, with each visit to a different kingdom, he became older.
Soon, Levis was incredibly close to the supreme brute demon.
"I sacrifice... all of my time!" Chieftain Levis proudly proclaimed, the wind shifting as a bright light began to shine around him like a bright star.
Smashing his fist at the supreme demon brute, Queen Evecles who was watching over him grimaced.
He was still so young but he spent his whole life protecting others.
Because of his constant change of appearance, people who remembered him would always be shocked to see him.
No statues was made of him either.
The supreme brute demon’s skin the began to warp.
As seconds passed, a large gaping hole appeared on the demon’s stomach.
Roaring in agony, the supreme demon then began to fall as Chieftain began to fall.
His appearance was quickly changing, his hair grew long and turned white before eventually falling off.
Accelerating towards him, Queen Evecles caught Levis just in time.
Flying down to the base camp, everyone cheered for Queen Evecles.
"Thank you for saving us!"
"Glory to the queen."
Not being able to break the crowd, Incus stepped up and helped Levis stand up.
"You fools!" Incus shouted in anger, her voice resonated loudly enough for everyone to hear, "This man was the true savior who saved us! He has been granted the strength to exchange the time he has left to live for power!"
The people then grew silent.
"Praise your true hero of Febritust, the great Levis!" Queen Evecles stepped up.
Looking at each other, everyone nodded before shouting their praise.
"Thank you Levis!"
Forcing the last bit of strength he had left, Chief Levis curled up a gentle smile.
***
Holding ceremony for Levis’ death, Queen Evecles ordered for the artisens to make him a statue to honor his name.
Not only that but to create a building to honor the heroes that have died.
Not only from this demon raid but all of the ones that had occurred.
