Chapter 96 - 161 (3)

Tilting her head, Incus changed gears and turned a sharp left.

Screaming, we plummeted down into the kingdom.

Commanding the dragon scales armor to hook on a building, I lowered the inertia of our fall.

Incus however just rammed straight into a slanted roof, her crash forming a hole.

Running down the building, Incus maneuvered around the kingdom.

Soon, she stopped by a group of people who were staying in what seemed to be this kingdom’s guild hall, using it as a temporary safe house until things have been settled.

Seemingly searching for someone, Incus walked through the admiring eyes that stared at her.

"Hero, it’s great to see you here!"

"You’re the greatest hero!"

As compliments showered her, Incus forced a smile across her face.

Entering a door, multiple knights grew shock.

Closing the door, Incus glared coldly.

"H-Hero, what are you doing here..?" A knight asked, although his face was covered by a helmet, it was clearly visible that he was nervous, "Is there anything we can help you with?"

Suddenly, a loud snore echoed in the room.

Everyone turned their heads towards the source of the noise.

It was the leader of the sewage society.

"What’s he doing here?" Incus asked, pointing at the homeless looking man.

"Him?" The knight turned his head, "He’s the only one here strong enough to hold his own against a demon... during the invasion of the sewage, he saved our men and threw us out of the manhole."

"I heard a different story where everyone in the sewage united to defeat a demon with the sacrifice of a few people who lived there, or am I wrong?" Incus stared daggers.

"No, he killed one of the arch demoness’ generals but got injured, but when he tried running back away into the sewage, a few demons had followed him but he was too weakened at the time to defend against himself... so yes, some of his people did die but it was because they died protecting their chief." The knight clenched a fist.

"How did this old man manage to defeat a demon general?" Incus asked, her face filled with awe.

"I’m not an old man." The chieftain of the sewage society then woke up, "I’m in my early twenties."

"Huh, there’s no way this guy is in his twenties... right, partner?" Alleus turned her head to look at me, a look of confusion painted across her face.

I shrugged, and pointed at the chief, indicating for her to listen.

"Check status." Incus whispered, looking intently at chief Levis.

I couldn’t read Incus’ thoughts but I know what she’s thinking about.

How is someone with stats like his able to defeat a demon general? Don’t get me wrong, his stats are pretty high compared to the people from the academy... the only plausible reason must have been because of the unique skill the chief has.

"So, why have you come here... someone as important such as your self would just waltz in here without a purpose." Chief Levis then walked past Incus, "Unless you’ve come looking for support, to deal with that giant mess outside."

Incus turned to face chieftain Levis.

"If you knew then you should be out there instead of in here." Incus scowled.

"Then who will protect my people, without someone to guide them—"

Interupting chieftain Levis, Incus grabbed him closer to her face.

"Listen to me you bastard, I don’t care what you feel. If you don’t help then everyone will die, do you think that just because they’re underground, that makes them safe from danger?" Incus glared, "Well you’re dead wrong."

With a solemn look painted across his face, Chief Levis took Incus’ hand off.

"Now, you’re acting more like a hero... I was just kidding anyways. I merely posted myself here as the final stand of defense." Walking towards the door, Chieftain Levis twisted the knob open.

An influx of people then poured out.

"A little privacy is appreciated you know." Chief Levis chuckled, his laugh sounded kind.

Walking towards the castle walls, Alleus looked at me with concentrated eyes.

Just what is this girl doing?

"Ring, I don’t know if it’s just me but your hair has gotten whiter." Alleus felt my hair.

Slapping her hand away, I pinched a few hairs and extended it to take a look.

My hair has gotten longer too.

"She’s right, your hair has definitely gotten whiter. The patch of white is bigger than it was when we first met." Vertere nodded.

Soon we stood directly in front of the castle walls.

"Shouldn’t we have gone to the gate, w-why are we here?" Acro questioned.

Grabbing everyone with a tight grip, a small grin appeared on my face.

"W-Why are you smiling like that..!" Acro paled.

"Come on then, carry me up there." Chief Levis pointed.

Sighing, Incus held chief Levis like a baby and jumped up into the sky.

"Waaa!" Acro screamed, as we began ascending.

Landing on the top of the castle wall, Chief Levis began stretching.

The supreme brute demon has gotten closer than ever, I would say that just six... no seven, more steps and the demon will arrive at the castle walls.

Hopping, Chief Levis exhaled.

"Hero, if you wouldn’t mind, I want you to throw me at the demon will all of your might."

Nodding, Incus stomped into the ground and pushed Chief Levis towards the supreme brute demon.

"You better not fail!" Incus shouted.

"Don’t worry, I wont—!"

Flying across the air, Chief Levis screamed.

[Chapter 162: The last barrier]

...

As Chieftain Levis flew across the air, a manly shout escaped his lungs.

Readjusting himself mid air, he pulled back a fist as flash backs of younger times about his young flashed before him.

Everything then froze, as the atmosphere shifted around Chieftain Levis.
