Chapter 57 - Faced with a huge Elf
Silas turned around and met with Roland.
"Ice-pick. Luna." He called out the two. "You guys stay in the back and support us. Don’t use charm. This is not a battle to the death."
"Really?" Ice-pick voiced.
"I think so." Silas said with an easy smile.
He took out his sword from the back and took a stance. Silas saw himself as a mage but his fighting style was focused on melee.
He modified his circles after the melee fight.
"Vae, you can drop the wind and watch over us. I don’t think Rowe will kill us but to be sure, save us when we are in trouble."
The white spirit nodded and flew to the sky with incredible speed.
Silas turned his attention to Rowe and analyzed the huge elf. From what he knew, the big elf was Fifth circle Elf in martial path.
He didn’t know about his magecraft so he also needed to look out for that as well. Facing without knowing anything about the opponent was alarming.
Rowe laughed and slapped at his own belly with his other hand. "Come. Since I am stronger, I will not attack first."
Roland looked at Silas and nodded at him.
"Go." Silas ordered.
Roland immediately used his third Circle, the energy control (Burst ). The energy in his body traveled through the body and circulated on his feet.
He then used his footwork, Wind Flow and dashed. In an instant he arrived in front of Rowe, drawing his sword, aiming at his neck.
Silas saw everything and his eyes locked on Rowe’s hand. The hand with white gauntlet moved and blocked the sword.
Sparks flew when the two touched.
"My turn." Rowe flashed a smile and swung his fist with another hand, taking hold of the sword.
Silas won’t allow that as he fired a concentrated Piece spell. Rowe let go of the sword and blocked the spells.
Roland took the chance with his nimble food steps, backed away.
"What is his gauntlet?" Silas arrived beside him and asked.
"No ideas but it’s hard."
"Can’t you break it?"
"I can try but it will take a lot of effort." Roland said with a frown.
"Okay, don’t fire out everything yet, we will observe his cards."
Roland nodded and leaped back into action. His sword was swift and precise, only aiming at the vital points of the elf.
Despite having a huge body, the elf was flexible enough to dodge and block everything. He lifted up his foot and smashed at the ground, sending shock waves around him.
"Haha. I have never fought with such a dirty knight before." Rowe yelled. "Come on. Press me more. What are you looking at, strange ugly man? Attack me."
"You guys in the back can also join as well, don’t listen to others." Rowe laughed.
Silas frowned and joined. He mainly aided Roland, taking him from the grip and gathering the attention to him when he needed.
They were both playing safe to take a look into Rowe’s cards and Rowe knew it. He allowed it until he got bored.
Rowe stepped down, energy beaming under his feet. Like Roland, he had energy control technique imbued in his circle.
The energy burst out from his body and Rowe grinned.
Roland clicked his tongue.
"Prepare..."
Before he could finish his word, the huge elf appeared in front of him, swinging his fist to his face. Rowe’s figure was solemn and imposing, a sense of terrifying strength radiating in the form of physical presence.
Roland moved first and blocked the fist with his crossed arms.
Crack. Crack.
The sound of bone breaking under the pressure was loud enough to echo in Silas’s ears.
Roland was firm and stood tall, even after both of his arms broke, he was still in his place.
"Haha." Roland chuckled with a hint of madness. The strength he once held was gone. He thought of him as a proud knight but now he was reduced to a mere guard placed beside his master.
He was supposed to be in front but now....
"Why are you smiling, knight?"
"I am just laughing at myself."
"Don’t be discouraged. I am surprised that my push doesn’t even push you."
Roland shook his head. "Doesn’t matter."
Silas grabbed this small opening and activated the second circle, Water Serpent. He let the water flow into the sword and took a step forward.
He pulled back the sword and aimed at the torso.
With a swift motion, he stabbed. The process was so smooth that Silas knew he surpassed the beginner level and reached the intermediate.
The sword flashed and entered into the flesh, the water flew into the wounds and as a result, the body became bloated.
Silas changed his stance again and this time, he crafted a Tier 1 spell and aimed at Roland’s chest.
Wind blast.
Roland’s body flew backward.
"Heal him." He ordered.
Ice-pick spread her arms and charmed the air around her to cushion the fall. She hugged Roland and placed carefully on the ground.
Luna came forward and performed a healing spell to his arms.
Seeing their quickness, Silas nodded and turned his attention back to Rowe.
"Do you want to continue?" He asked, stopping the water. "I can command the water to burst out inside your skin."
Rowe looked down at his bloated figure and laughed.
"Do you think this is strong enough to kill me? It will hurt but I can heal this in a few hours."
"I know. But do you want to know the pain of skin ripping apart? Or your small blood vessels split open due to pressure. I know someone who doesn’t like that kind of pain."
"What happened to that person?"
"He blew himself up."
"Haha. What an interesting story. You two must be good friends."
Silas smiled, the corner of his mouth twitching. He dropped his sword and sighed.
"Come on, stop the fight. We can’t win against you."
"How would you know if you haven’t even boiled your blood yet?"
Silas flinched as he remembered the sensation of heat overflowing into him.
"You asked for this." Silas lifted up his hand and readied to order the water to burst.
And he did.
But there was no movement inside Rowe’s skin. The water was calm. He still felt the mana in those waters but no matter what he couldn’t order them.
"Take this as a lesson from an old warrior." Rowe smiled and his flesh opened up like before, this time water came out. His water.
Silas clicked his tongue and immediately grabbed his sword, he surrounded himself with another serpent for protection and engaged with the warrior.
His fight with Rowe was not as intense as Roland. That must be because Rowe slowed down his fists.
It reminded him of his mother’s teaching, and beat him up until he managed to stay firm on the ground. And he had said, his mother’s teaching was working flawlessly.
Despite the difference in strength, Silas managed to not fall.
"Your basics are flawless. Even better than the knight but your sword lacks devotion. Let’s end this with the final clash."
Silas nodded and stepped back. He conjured many serpents and placed them in front of him.
Rowe grabbed his gauntlet hand and swung, dashing toward him, he aimed at his head.
Silas tilted his head, narrowly avoiding the hit and spun his body and used the momentum, kicking at his chest.
It was like hitting on the steel wall, his feet hurted.
Rowe looked down at Silas, who was grabbing his leg and nodded.
"Good. Good. You both have a conviction. Speak and I will listen." He crossed his arms and said with a smile.
