Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble

Chapter 56 - Lunch

The new barrier was set up and surrounded the lunch table. Silas was impressed by their teamwork more than anything else.

The speed of the barrier was fast but it was only fast because of their teamwork. Each person knew how to craft a crest and deployed. They must have trained days and nights to achieve this level of understanding with each other.

This was no mere teamwork.

Silas looked around at the people. There were about 6 people, elves and humans working under Flux. He knew that this amount was not the end.

Flux sat on the edge of the table and ate his meal. Silas sat in the opposite. Beside them were Silas’s people.

Roland didn’t join the lunch and stood behind him like a statue, ready to attack at any moment.

Silas sliced through the meat with the small knife and put it into his mouth. The tender meat melted inside, he didn’t even need to chew the meat.

Both he and Flux observed each other intensely. Flux took off his mask and fully revealed his face. The jaded man was calm and collected, eyeing on Silas.

Silas didn’t want to lose the battle and displayed the manner of a noble, fully intended on showing his status.

After the lunch, Flux stared at him, this time he didn’t even bother to hide it anymore. Silas coughed and signaled Roland to take away both Ice-pick and Luna.

The knight followed his instructions and soon, only two people left on the table.

"Do you enjoy the meal?"

"Yes. You have a wonderful chief." Silas smiled.

Flux took out the letter from his pocket and showed it to Silas. Silas recognized the letter and sighed inwardly.

"Did you send the letter? Or is someone else sending it?"

"It is from me." Silas admitted. "You can check with your many artifacts, Flux."

"Don’t call me by my name. I don’t trust you yet."

"Superstitious. Well, I can’t blame you. In this world everything can happen. So many mysteries are left to be uncovered." Silas sighed, visibly distracted.

"Are you a prophet?"

"Why?"

"Are you a prophet?" Flux repeated the question.

He stared at Silas with a hardened expression.

Silas slowly shook his head and answered. "No."

"Then why did the letter have her name? No one knew about our relationship? No.. they don’t even know about our past relationship. You said she is my wife."

Silas didn’t answer and let out a long and suffering sigh. Another lesson he needed to take into heart. Just like Ice-pick and Luna failed to see their capabilities, he also failed in his knowledge.

He tapped his temple, reminding himself to not forget. He had a habit of dropping guard when he stayed with someone he could relax with.

"That is because I saw the vision."

Flux was taken back and laid back on the chair, crossing his arms.

"And you say you are not a prophet?"

"Because this information is related to a certain thing." Silas spoke in a vague manner.

Flux nodded slowly and sighed. "Since all of this is a misunderstanding, let’s start from zero."

"Sure, fine by me." Silas said.

"I knew about your journey. You went to Middle Finger and Pointer and returned to Middle." He paused. "And you circle to us. What is your goal, Traveller?"

"To have an understanding between the peak masters."

"It is impossible."

"Why? You haven’t even considered the possibility yet."

"Aanacia is not someone you can be friends with. She is an insane woman. She can’t be reasoned with." Flux added.

Silas smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I know. That is why it is possible. I will deal with her on my own. Right now, I am finding the goal of each person here. What is yours?"

"Tell yours first."

Silas chuckled. "Fine. I want the approval of Eli."

It was a lie but he omitted the treasure of the world serpent. Flux looked at him and pondered, gradually he gave in and nodded.

"Tree’s tears."

Silas frowned. "Do elf like the tears?"

"I don’t know about others but I come here to destroy the tears." Flux declared.

Silas tapped his hands on the table and asked. "Why?"

"It is a personal reason." Flux declined.

Silas sighed and noted down in his head. He should take a notebook with him and pose as a detective. That would be a fun roleplay.

As the ideas came, he asked. "Do you have a small book?"

"I do."

"Can you give it to me?"

"Not for free."

Silas clicked his tongue and took out a coin and threw it to Flux. The elf caught the coin and looked down. "I don’t need money."

He sighed and took out a mana crystal. Immediately he imbued the crest into the mana crystal and threw it to the elf.

Flux caught and another elf appeared. The elf observed the crystal and said in monotone.

"Tier 3 barrier spell."

Flux looked at Silas, not understanding why he gave a precious crest for a book.

"I don’t want to trade."

"Consider it as a gift." Silas laughed.

Flux stood up, Silas followed as well. The elf gave him a small book.

"I will see you."

Silas walked back to the edge and found Roland and the two women waiting for him. He signaled them to stay silent and called out Vae.

The white spirit appeared and warped around his group in understanding.

Silas took out the book. Flux even gave him a pen. He started listing everything he knew.

Eli wanted to know and made friends.

Lynn’s motives were unknown and she appeared to be in a fight with Flux.

From Flux’s words, they had some kind of past but not lovers yet. And his goal was to destroy the tears.

As for Aanacia, she was an insane woman and loved him? He wrote a bunch of question marks and closed the book.

Now, only the final master of the peak was left.

Silas turned to look at Ice-pick and gathered mana into his hands and started playing. It had become a routine for him to pass the time.

Someone tapped his shoulder. Silas turned around and saw Roland, pointing at the mountain beneath.

The final mountain. The Thumb Finger.

"I sense someone gathering the energy. Possibly Fifth circle."

Silas nodded.

"Enemy?"

"I don’t know. I don’t sense any hostile intent from the energy." Roland said.

Silas called, "Vae."

The white spirit appeared and landed on his shoulder. "Can you help us shield the attack from that person?"

Vae looked down and nodded.

Slowly, the wind lifted them and guided them beneath. The attacks didn’t come but Silas now saw the immense power behind the energy.

It was like he was holding.

The mountain peak was similar to Lynn. Completely flat and devoid of anything.

In the middle stood a huge elf, naked. Not entirely as he wore ripped pants. His muscles were highly developed especially on the arms, neck, chest and legs.

His upper body was broad.

Overall, he looked like a giant panda packed with muscles.

"I am Rowe, the warrior of the elf race." the huge elf announced. "Battle with me, humans."

Silas landed on the ground and immediately worked on his social skills. "I come here to chat, Sir Rowe."

Rowe shook his head and extended his hand, flesh opened up. But there was no blood dripping from the opened flesh.

Instead, what came out was a white substance, warping around his hand like a gauntlet. Rowe glanced at his hand and nodded in satisfaction.

He smiled and laughed out loud, his laughter roaring like a predator. And he was a predator. The energy surged out from him and transferred to his hand.

The white gauntlet packed with energy landed on the ground.

"I will take after the battle. You may fight with everything you got."
