Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble

Chapter 55 - Flux, the masked elf

Silas reached the end of the mana path and found himself surrounded by pure darkness. It didn’t take a long time before the curtains fell down, revealing the true scene of the Pinky Finger Peak.

But the scene was just an inside view and when he looked past the scene, everything shifted.

Seems like they repurposed the illusion barrier and flipped it inside out. Silas sighed and then closed his eyes.

He covered his mouth and pointed at the two women in the middle, especially the first one. Her figure was pale and eluded supernatural elements. Charm.

Unable to contain anymore, Silas burst into laughter, shaking his head.

Ice-pick shot a sharp glance at him and pouted. Or tried to. She couldn’t move her mouth as she was gagged by a white cloth.

Silas walked over to her and sighed. Seeing her in state didn’t bring her joy at all. Ignored his laughter. It just caught him off guard.

Just as he was about to reach the two women, the previous voice sounded around him.

"Stop. I don’t give you the order to release them."

Silas paused his hand and frowned. He released his mana to the fullest, challenging the authority of the voice.

"Do I need your order?" He asked coldly. His whole demeanor shifted from outgoing to the one that was fitting of the heir of a famous family.

"Roland."

"Yes." The knight responded quickly, taking out his sword. The energy erupted from his body like a volcano and flew into the sword like a moving river.

"Cut them. Cut everyone who tried to interrupt me."

"Yes." The reply was short but it held the full intent of the knight.

Silas resumed his hand, crouching down, he smiled at Ice-pick and took out the gag.

"Sorry. I don’t think they would be hostile."

"You better be. Do you know how itchy to stay here like this all night?"

Silas shook his head. "Thankfully, I am blessed with a good life."

He moved past the succubus and met his apprentice’s eyes. He reached her face and removed the gag. Her body flinched.

Seeing her in a state of panic moved him. But Silas didn’t show any waver in his eyes.

He needed to look strong in her eyes, so that she could rely on him. He was an adult. Technically, he was younger than her by two years but his mental age made up.

He was above 25 years old.

She was like a younger sister to him.

"I am here. Sorry for the trouble. You must be scared."

Luna shook her head. He smiled and patted her gently and stood up.

In a flip, his eyes changed and lifted up his arm. Mana came forth from his core and moved.

He had finished analyzing the illusion barrier that surrounded them. Now, with a wave, he released the mana and crafted an anti-barrier spell.

The wall cracked and broke down into pieces. He heard gasps and shocked sounds. Now that the barrier vanished, he noticed a few people standing outside.

He memorized everyone and stared deeply at the leader. Or at least the person he thought was the leader.

He hadn’t seen the face of Pinky Finger master in the game. By the time the protagonist arrived here the master of the peak was outside searching for the artifact with his trusted group.

But he knew the name and his relationship. After all, it was the most important thing Rin said to the protagonist.

Silas stared at the man who wore the mask.

"Tell me a good reason why you tied up my people." Silas said. His tone was neither harsh nor cold.

He checked his emotions and noted that all of that was under control.

The mask man came forward. "They give me a strange letter."

"It is from me." Silas admitted. "But what is so strange that you have to tie up these women? Did I write something horrible? Tell me, Flux."

"Tell me the reason so that I can calm my anger."

Roland released the two pairs with his sword, cutting down the mana enforced artifact. They could fetch a good price from the merchant as the ropes had a good usage but Silas didn’t care at all.

"I admit I don’t have a good reason."

Silas’s mana flared up like a hot sun.

"So I admit that I am in the wrong, young traveller." Flux said and nodded.

Silas let out a sigh and withdrew his mana. He turned around toward his group.

"Sorry. Since he apologized we are going to take the apology. Of course, not for free." Silas smiled and turned his attention to Flux.

"Treat me and my people for lunch. And we will discuss it on the table." Silas said.

Flux turned to his people and ordered.

Silas walked back to his group and asked.

"What happened to you two? I am sure I said you can flee if the situation does not favor you guys."

Ice-pick looked away, avoiding his eyes. Suspicious, he grabbed her head and turned to his face.

"What did you do, Ice-pick?"

"It is not Sinne’s fault." Luna chimed in.

"You don’t need to cover her, Luna. I can see how stubborn she can be."

"Well.." Luna muttered.

"See. Your excuses dried out. Tell me what she does?"

"Nothing." Ice-pick said softly.

Silas couldn’t accept her word and looked at Luna. Luna evaded his gazes. He felt his heart shattered into pieces. His sweet Luna was rebelling against him.

How much did that succubus corrupt her mind?

Silas sighed and stood up. "Fine by me. I will just ask Flux."

"Wait. Wait. I will tell you. I will tell you." Ice-pick grabbed his shirt and pulled toward her.

"Sinne."

"It is okay, Luna. It is not like he is a monster." Ice-pick glanced at him with a smirk. "Well, he has a monster face but.."

Silas smacked her in the head. "Enough chit chat, speak."

"Ouch."

"Fine. Fine. Don’t hit me again. Like you said, we both came here to deliver the letter but for some reason they said we walked in with the intention to perform the assassination."

"Then, they suddenly jumped up with their spells, techniques and artifacts, holding us down. I tried to make use of my Charm but they restricted that with artifacts. At first, they wanted to kill us but when Luna gave them the letter, their leader stopped and captured us."

Silas stood and rubbed his chin. He already had a perfect picture of the situation. It was these two faults. He sighed, wondering why they could be this blind.

He was more disappointed at Luna.

He coughed and signaled the two women to come near him. As they got closer, Silas’s hand moved fast and flicked their forehead with moderate strength.

"Do you know why they say you have hostile intentions?"

"They lied, Silas." Ice-pick grumbled.

"Any ideas, Luna?" He turned to the smarter one.

"Because of my mana concealment?"

Silas clapped his hand. "Exactly. You both come to the mountain with your barrier spell right?"

Luan nodded.

"Even with the concealment, there is still a way to detect the presence. So when they found out about you guys, they came and checked, trying to see if you guys were enemies." Silas explained.

"And what did you do when they surrounded you?"

Luna frowned and looked at the succubus. "She released her charm."

"That increased their suspicions. Now that I got a full picture, I would also throw you guys into this. Consider this as a lesson on how to approach strangers." Silas waved his hands.

’They would be dead if they had to meet with the people I just interact with.’
