Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble

Chapter 29 - Experiment

The invitation detailed the party. Due to Silas’s group, they acted like they didn’t know about the kidnapping and started hunting someone responsible.

Scapegoat for their crime.

And then, they declared that they were making a party to honor Silas and the victims by making a party. Effectively, making the situation of their family good.

Silas had no reason to reject the invitation. He would probably get a reward and had some form of connection in the family.

In order to destroy it, he needed to know about their inside. What was their weakness? He didn’t want to just destroy their family, he wanted to make sure that this kind of family won’t appear in the future.

To achieve this, he needed to clear everything. Exposed everything hidden underneath their skin.

Silas stopped his steps and looked at the house he just brought. Old Gin worked fast and immediately brought the house after he gave him the money.

The house was not grand but practical. He still lived in the inn for appearance sake. He didn’t like wasting money but it also fell into a scheme.

Silas checked the house and was greeted by his people. He nodded at them and went to the basement. The basement was clean, spotless.

He smiled and clapped his hand.

"This basement will be my lab." He said to Old Gin who was following him.

Old Gin nodded and left the basement. Silas turned around to face the two women. The two he needed to make his new magecraft. To be precise, to create an artifact.

He needed the bloodline power of Ice-pick race and as for Luna, she had to work in work that required time and effort.

That was what she was for anyway. He paid her the money for the work so he was not cruel.

"But why do I have to do that?" Ice-pick complained, shaking her head.

"I am going to introduce you to the other men in the party. Don’t you want to come with me? I am sure you will find your love there." Silas said.

Ice-pick smiled, beaming brightly. She jumped up and down. For some reason, Silas’s eye followed her breast.

He coughed and turned his attention to the making the magecraft artifact.

He had ordered Old Gin to bring out a few cloaks. Before he came, he wanted to look at Ice-pick power.

Her racial ability to meld with the darkness. The ideas came from seeing Fatty’s bodyguard. The technique which was deployed by the bodyguard was used by a high level assassin.

Which required a high level talent and darkness affinity.

So he planned to create a low level one.

"Ice-pick, show me how you change your clothes. With your shadow."

She nodded and gathered energy around my body and manipulated the shadow around her, covering her body. She made the wings with shadow and even her dresses.

Silas studied the transformation with mana sense.

Previously, when she transformed into a full demon, he was busy with the wolves.

Now that there was no such thing, he learned a lot from that.

Silas took out the book and started writing it down.

[The crest you are planning to create is correct but needs to change a little in output if you want a silent crest.]

Thamior said inside his head.

Silas frowned and whispered. "Why are you helping me?"

[To survive of course. And to get into your goodside.]

Silas didn’t answer and let him work. He listened to Thamior’s advice.

Silas asked a lot from Ice-pick. By the time the day came to the end, she didn’t say energy left to transform.

He looked at the works he did and felt a wave of pride come into him. At the current rate of development, it would take about 2 days to create the artifact and another day for testing and refining.

The day of the party was at the end of the week so he still had plenty of time.

Leaving the house, Silas went to the high end restaurant in order to treat Ice-pick and Luna for their hard work.

"Wow, Yammy. I don’t know humans can cook something this tasty." Ice-pick said, chewing the streak.

Silas shook his head and took a slip at the wine. He looked at Luna who was carefully slicing off her meat, trying not to create a sound. She must be scared of the restaurant aura.

Well, everyone inside were rich and nobles. They all stared at them, eyes filled with curiosity, not even trying to hide.

Silas and Ice-pick were not affected by their glances.

Silas was used to the crowd and immune to it. As for Ice-pick, well, in short, she was too stupid to care. Her mind was focused on the food and nothing else.

They ate the meal and enjoyed the wine and dessert. Soon, they left and went to the inn.

Roland stayed in the house and decided to train. He said he was getting close to the fifth circle and thought about seriously attempting to break through.

Silas didn’t need him to guard him so he let Roland stay there. The inn held a group of powerful people for protection. There was one fifth circle mage protecting the inn. So he felt safe enough.

Silas wished him for the best. He meant it whole heartedly. He needed powerful people beside him.

After the treasure in Palm Mountain, Silas was planning on recruiting people to his side. With the treasure, he was certain people would follow him.

Silas sighed and went to bed with his throbbing headache.

***

Days passed quickly when he was confused on a project.

Silas stared at the cloak he created and nodded.

The final product was finished. Now, he just needed to try and test the product. It took them about 3 days to make the cloak

No name yet for the artifact. He was too lazy to name one. And giving a good name was not a strong trait of his. He sucked.

Silas coughed and grabbed the robe and went upstairs. He found a knight hanging around and called out the name.

"Dimeu, come. Come."

A knight came and bowed to him.

"Wear this and tell me how you feel about it."

Dimeu received the robe and looked at Silas in confusion. "What is this sir?"

"An artifact. You know how to activate it right?"

"Yes, sir. I learned from the house."

"Good. Let’s see the effect. Don’t worry, it is safe." Silas smiled and patted the knight, bringing him outside the yard.

Dimeu wore the robe and channeled energy into the robe, a black mist emerged from the robe and turned into a shadow, covering around him.

The shadow didn’t weigh so it didn’t affect the movement.

Dimeu swung his sword trying the effect of the robe.

The function of the artifact was simple. Create a mist, similar to his second circle, covering the body.

And the second effect was covering oneself with shadow to hide in the darkness. Very useful when fighting in the darkness.

Perfect artifact for facing the men from the Empire.

Silas laughed loudly. Dimeu looked at Silas, not sure how to answer to the laughter. Soon, he joined as well, faking a laugh.

Silas took back the robe and went back to the basement. He dismissed the two women.

Ice-pick wanted to check the city but she was bored going alone so she grabbed Luna with her. With the two strength, Silas was not care about them facing a powerful people.

Luna was smart. He was certain that she could tame the succubus.

Silas picked up the blue print of the artifact and carefully put into the bag, along with the robe.

He then went outside, searching for Roland.

He found the young knight and said, "Hey, we are going to that building, tonight."

"Okay. You finish the artifact?"

Silas nodded and smiled. "I will sell them and build myself an army here."
