Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble

Chapter 28 - Invitation

Tolstoy Empire was the bordering nation of Zrron Kingdom and others kingdom around them.

They held the biggest land and also known as the Empire of War due to their blood thirsty nature. But their thirst calmed down and they didn’t initiate war for the last hundred years.

They let others develop in peace but they didn’t let go of their nature, slowly waiting to hunt. Right now, everyone thought Tolstoy dropped their thirst and started to change due to a new royal member.

For a while, it was true but the heir to the throne was a true follower of their blood. He wanted to change the status of the Empire.

"Don’t believe me?" Silas asked, lifting up his chin.

Fatty slammed his fingers on the table and shook his head.

"No, do you have proof?"

Silas shook his head. "I don’t. You have to believe in my words."

"Even so,.."

"Even with all that, I want money. Money fitted for this information." Silas smiled.

"No way, we don’t know if the information is true or not. And how can we take advantage of such information? The best we could do is sell to the royal capital but due to nature, we would be hunted down and questioned." Fatty said with his logic.

That was an exaggerated reason and at the same time, probably what would happen to the brunch.

This information was too bizarre after all.

Even the high officials in Tolstoy didn’t know the information. The crown prince suppressed his desire and slowly focused on building up his army.

Now, the success of getting the money fell on how hard he could convince Fatty.

"You have a magic crystal to connect with other information centers right?"

Fatty nodded slowly. "I do."

"How about the information brunch on Tolstoy?"

"We have a few but we don’t pour resources into that too much." Fatty said.

"Good enough. Connect to them. I will help you deduce whether the information I provided is correct or not." Silas said.

Fatty looked at the bandaged man and sighed. He snapped his finger and a shadow emerged from behind him.

Without turning around his head, Fatty ordered. "Took out magical crystals and connected with others."

The shadow followed without asking a question.

Soon, a crystal landed on the table between Silas and Fatty.

"First connect to the Empire and ask about the food price. You will see it increase a little due to the over consumption." Silas said.

Fatty asked and indeed the food price got higher. But it was not due to over consumption was instead, the crops died a lot.

Silas chuckled. "That was probably the suppression from the crown prince. He is smart so it is normal to hear like this."

"That doesn’t mean anything."

"I know. The next question is the rewards the Crown prince asked of the Emperor. Either land or mountain. Maybe both, considering he needed to find iron and flat land to train his soldiers." Silas said.

That information was spot on.

Fatty frowned, hearing the confirmation.

"I need another piece of information." He asked.

"You will get it. I saved the best for the last one." Silas smiled. "The relationship between the Empire and the Holy Church of War."

Fatty asked the magic crystal and replied immediately.

The information centre of the underworld was impressive. Even in foreign lands, they were top notch.

"For a few years, the relationship between the Empire and the Church of War started to decline. Mainly because of the stagnation of the war in the Empire. But when the crown prince came into power, he focused his attention on fixing the relationships."

"The reason he declared was that the Emperor’s bloodline came with war and he wanted to tie the relationship into the legend."

"But there was no visible progress in the relationship. The Empire continued to suppress the Church’s intention of going on a war."

Fatty stared at Silas.

He didn’t need to explain the information. Fatty sighed.

"And what does this information have to do with us? It is useless."

"Really? Do you really think so? If you think it is useless then, you are stupider than I thought." Silas waved his hand.

Fatty grinned his teeth and smiled softly, his eyes twitching.

"Very well, we will give you the money. How much do you want?"

"Not much." Silas said. "A few gold coins and help me with something. I will give you other things."

"Information?"

"No. This information is enough for you. I will give you a recipe on how to make a weapon. To get a profit with the information I just sold."

"Tell me about it."

"I will come in a few days to give you that. For now give me my money." Silas stood up.

Fatty nodded and whispered something to the shadow behind him. The shadow vanished and appeared with a poach. Fatty threw the poach to Silas.

Silas caught it and peered inside. Gold coins shone inside, blinding his poor eyes. This amount should be enough for a few years of normalcy.

Silas placed the poach inside his cloak and left the building. "I will come."

"And I will wait for you, C.C."

Fatty said, looking at the back of the two strangers. The information they brought was a world shattering event.

"Shall we follow them?" The shadow behind him spoke for the first time.

Fatty shook his head. "No need. I don’t want to get near him. I got a bad feeling."

As someone who managed this branch of information center, he trusted his instinct the most even more so than the cold logic. That was how he survived and now, his instinct was telling him to stop interacting with the man.

But the greed inside him can’t stop. With just this information alone, his wealth would soar to the sky. In order to use that, he needed to work hard.

Silas returned to the inn and started counting the money he received. The smile on his face was devilishly evil. He laughed and played with the coins.

"They are my baby. I love you so much." He kissed the coins.

Roland looked at Silas with disgust. "And what are you planning to sell?"

"A basic robe to protect people. Since the war is coming, I want to strengthen the people’s survivability. But I haven’t designed it yet, so I am going to research it for now. I need to get a workshop. Well, with this money, I can easily buy a house here."

Silas smiled, looking out at the window. The sun had come. Soon, he heard a knock on the door.

He let it enter, expecting Old Gin but it was not.

It was a random old man with the uniform of a butler. He adored the crescent moon in his chest, showcasing that he was from the Floen Family.

He bowed in a practiced grace. "I got a letter from the Family for Sir Viremont."

"Do you still consider me as Viremont?"

"The Family thinks so." He took out the letter and handed to Silas. Silas grabbed the letter and dismissed the man.

As soon as the man left, Silas opened the letter. Roland watched over, trying to read as well.

It was invitation letter to the party the family was making.

The execution of the kinapper of the children in the slum.

[Haha... looks like they are making you a hero, Kid.]
