Infinite Skin System: Starting as An Eldritch Knight

Chapter 229: Flesh Cave

The cave was vast and dark. The ceiling was so high that they couldn't even see it. But Carter could see it all through his Sonar Echolocation.

He continued on. The torch flickered, shining the path ahead.

"How did you meet these Wendigos, Maisie?" Carter asked.

Maisie shook her head in defeat. "We were planning on creating a village on our own. One night, it simply appeared. There was only one. Not a horde like last time. But that one... It is very strong."

"How strong?"

"So strong I can't even grasp it."

'Champion? Not really. If it's the same one I saw, that one was only Awaken. But these species always have a leader. That leader may be a Minor Champion. Or at least it would be a Major Elite.'

The deeper they went inside the cave, the more they noticed bones and corpses on the ground. These Wendigos ate meat. They ate a lot of it.

Maisie shivered just by the sight of it.

"These monsters. They only ate living prey." Maisie said.

"How do you know?" Carter asked.

"Because I saw it dissection my people alive." Maisie bit her lips.

"What a horrible thing to witnessed." Leah said.

"Maybe we should back out? Asking for more help?" Dorothy trembled.

"From who? Richard? That man will never help." Beatrice said.

"He said that the late Alphas entrusted him with the fate of the Wolfmen. But I know my father will never do that." Maisie said.

They continued one. More bones and carcasses were on the ground. Some were still bloody and stank of decomposition.

Then Carter heard them. The horde of endless Wendigos in the far.

He stopped.

"They're ahead. Around a mile deeper." Carter said.

"How do you know? I can't see anything." Maisie said.

"I can hear them."

"So a Werewolf has much better sense than a Wolfman? Interesting." Beatrice said.

"Stay here. I will go ahead. Alone." Carter passed the torch to Maisie.

"Is it really okay? It is very dangerous." Maisie said.

"No creature here can hurt me."

Carter fell to the ground as his body contorted. His transformation began.

It was the first time he transformed in front of anybody.

Maisie covered her mouth. Her eyes were teary. Wolfman could shapeshift into a wolf without much sensations. But a Werewolf. A Werewolf Transformations was painful and horrifying.

Beatrice widened her eyes, trying to take in as much information of the transformations as possible.

Carter's spine shot up and enlarged. His skin shredded like snake. The bones of his finger broke themselves and rebuilt, becoming long sharp claws.

His mouth portruded forward and became a snout. His ears rearranged their position and became two large wolf ears.

The entire frame of the scrawny young man became the large body of the Werewolf.

It was much bigger and more intimidating than any Wolfman.

When Carter finished his transformations, the women stepped back instinctively. The change was so unsettled that they couldn't recognize John Collins anymore.

They could only see the ruthless Werewolf.

Its eyes shined in the eyes like two small moons. When it looked at them, the women jerked back in response.

Then just before it left, the Werewolf smiled.

Carter disappear into the night.

"That bastard definitely did that on purpose. He tried to scare us." Beatrice said.

"John would never do sometime like that." Dorothy said.

"Oh, you naive girl..."

Carter dashed deeper into the cave. His movement was gentle. It caused noise. And the Wendigos heard him.

The horde of Gray Creatures came rushing in from the deep end of the cave. There were many. They were as crowded as an ant nest.

'I haven't had a good battle since a long time!'

The last time he truly slaughtered countless foes. It was back when he attacked the Gold Stream in Hexilia. Even the war in Wild Earths was short lived because Ryuja was killed quickly.

The Wendigos came out and flooded at him.

He slammed into them like an unstoppable tank, crushing them like butter.

Weak Awaken Wendigos. They were nothing in front of an Elite. They died like ants beneath the feet of Carter.

The Wendigos realized his power and backed off. They actually weren't complete mindless. The strong would come forward and attacked him. While the weaker ones would circle around, finding a good poor to strike.

A Wendigo jumped at his back. This one was bigger than the usual, a Major Awaken Wendigo.

Carter howled, marking all the Wendigos and ignoring the one at his back.

It caught him and bit into his neck. Its teeth shattered like glasses.

The Werewolf smirked. As long as they couldn't penetrate Carter's skin, he was invincible.

He grabbed the head of the Wendigos and slammed it on the ground. His claws punctured through its skulls and turned its brain into mush.

More Wendigos flooded at him. They decided to pile on him this time, trying to use their weight to crush him.

It was a foolish idea. The Werewolf carried the countless Wendigos on its shoulder and jumped up, slamming them into the cave ceiling.

Bones were broken. Blood were spilled.

When Carter landed back down, the bodies of the Wendigo fell with him. They fell like dying birds falling from the sky.

"Is that it? Give me more!" The deep voice of the Werewolf echoed.

At that time, the Wendigos split open an empty path. A large Wendigo with chains over its body approached Carter.

It held an anchor in its hand.

The Wendigo spun the anchor and threw it at Carter.

Carter grabbed the chain in mid-air, causing the Elite Wendigo to freeze in shock. He pulled it over, lifting its off the ground.

The Werewolf jumped forward on four legs and bit the head off of the Elite Wendigo.

"More! I need more!"

Carter howled again. Many more enemy dots appeared in his Osmocolation. There were many that were Elite.

The Elite Wendigos surrounded him.

"Now more like it!" The Werewolf breathed in excitement.
