Chapter 228: Wendigo Line
The Gray Creatures retreated, leaving Carter and Maisie.
The girl froze in fear. Even though this Werewolf had saved her. She didn't know what it wanted.
Carter grabbed the bodies of the Gray Creatures and disappeared into the woods.
"Wait!" Maisie shouted but the Werewolf was already gone.
Carter collected the Gray Creatures together and began to convert them into skin shards.
'What even is this creature? I hope I'm getting something good out of it.'
Carter turned back into a human. A cloud of white smoke released from him.
New clothes wrapped around his skin. Then he placed his hand on the corpses of the Creatures.

'Wendigo? Isn't this a cannibal spirit back on Earth?'

Carter acquired a total of 12 Minor, 17 Medium, and 9 Major Awaken Wendigo Shards. And 1 Minor Elite Wendigo Shard.
Carter's ears twitched. His Sonar Echolocation picked up on movement nearby.
'This breathing... Dorothy?'
Carter transformed his clothes. Now only a tattered version of what it used to be. It was to be more aligned to a beast just burst out of him.
He lay doen on the ground, pretending to faint.
Dorothy rushed at him and picked him up.
"John?! Are you alright?" Dorothy thought he was hurt because his clothes were torn. But no, he was completely fine. Not even one scratch was found on him.
Dorothy gently caressed his skin.
"This... What have you done, John?"
At the same time, Maisie came. She followed the footprints of the Werewolf and saw Maisie and Carter.
"You are the witch in Lanely..." Maisie said. Then she looked at the man in her arms. "He..."
The two women gazed upon each other.
Carter let the two of them work it out and only woke up a few hours later. He had to put on the act that he was a Werewolf after all.
"What is this?" Carter saw that he was covered in Dorothy's cloak.
Her smell was nice and soft.
"You awake? Are you alright, John?" Dorothy said.
"I'm alright. What happened?"
"We should be the one asking you that. Are you... a Wolfman?"
"Wolfman?" Carter chuckled. "What even is that? You meant a Werewolf?"
"Tell me more about this Werewolf." Maisie said.
Carter educated the two girls about Werewolf and its characteristic. He didn't actually tell them about the power of the skin of course. Only the legends of the monster.
"Where I'm from, Werewolves are the antidote to Vampires. They are the only ones that could wipe them out. Unfortunately, Werewolves are solidaey creature. It they were more social, the vampires would have no chance." Carter said.
"Are you a Werewolf?" Dorothy asked.
Carter stayed silent. Then he sighed.
"I think so. Many blackout episodes where I don't remember anything and when the beast took over. It is very powerful. But I cannot control it." Carter said.
"Lend me your power. I need to save my people." Maisie said.
Carter rubbed his chin. "Alright. But I need your help in finding someone. Her name is Primrose Quinton."
"Primrose? She is being held by the Gray Creature with my people."
"Oh? She was with you all this times?"
"Not all the times. Primrose is the last surviving member of the Quinton tribe. She came to Lanely to seek shelters. Richard took her in. She left with me when she saw the true face of Richard."
"True face?" Dorothy asked. "What do you mean?"
"Richard is a coward and a loser. All he wants is to keep the Wolfmen under his rule." Maisie scoffed.
"She isn't lying."
Beatrice and Leah stepped out from the dark. Even though Beatrice was mad at Dorothy, she still came to save the young witch.
Dorothy smiled, "Teacher!"
Beatrice slammed Dorothy's head twice. "Never go alone again!"
Dorothy grabbed her head pitifully but her face said it wasn't hurt at all.
Beatrice sighed. "War is coming upon us. And yet. Instead of building an alliance, Richard only wants to keep his power intact. I came here for an alliance. But I may leave empty handed."
Maisie stood up. "Help me get back the Wolfmen Tribe. If you do, we will be allies until the end of day."
Beatrice raised an eyebrow. She was tempted by that offer.
"To do that, you will need to rescue your people. How can you do that in your own?" Beatrice said.
Maisie grabbed Carter, "We have John!"
"Him?"
The group headed toward the lair of the Wendigo, where the Farrow was being kept. Maisie told Beatrice about the Werewolf.
"Werewolf... Another powerful variation of the Wolfman. Recently, more Pure Bloods are showing up in the world. The Vampires as an upgrade to the Undead. The Werewolves as an upgrade to the Wolfman. It feels like ther is an invisible hand orchestrated everything." Beatrice commented.
'You aren't wrong, Trix. That hand is mine.' Carter thought to himself.
They didn't return to the Lanely Ranch. Instead, they arrived at the lair of the Wendigos, a large dark cave with no ends.
"They are inside." Maisie said. "The Gray Creatures."
"They are Wendigos. Mindless creatures that feast on the flesh." Carter said.
"Wendigos?" Beatrice said. "You know about them?"
"Not too much. I only knew their name. Shall we go?"
"We should prepare ourselves. There is a very powerful Wendigo inside. Mucb more powerful than anything else." Maisie said.
Carter adjusted John's round glasses. "I haven't seen any creature in this world that can stand against the monster within me. Whatever it is. The monster will kill it."
Carter had a literal god-in-the-making in his pocket, Zeneros Blackburn. The devil. And many more powerful skins. He doubted that anything inside could hurt him.
Dorothy rubbed her cheeks. Now she knew he was a Werewolves. She liked him even more.
"He is even hotter than before!" Dorothy said.
Leah nodded approvingly.
Beatrice covered her face in shame. "These two... I failed you all, my Coven."
Carter wrapped a piece of cloth on a wooden stick and burned it, creating a makeshift torch. He marched into the cave.
"Shall we?"
Carter went inside. The women followed him.
