Chapter 210: Rainy Night
Amelia ran in the rain.
Of course, it was raining. Carter had picked a good evening to have the conflict scene.
She rubbed her eyes, trying to get rid of those sentimental tears. But she didn't know if it was her tears, or the rain.
Unspeakable things lurked in the dark. They noticed her. A young, beautiful woman.
A prey for the night.
But all horrors had to step back when a Prince arrived.
Amelia hit her head on the chest of someone. She stumbled backwards and was about to fall flat on her butt when the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer.
"Why are you crying, my lady?" The man's soft voice was hypnotizing. Literally.
Amelia looked up.
It was the odd pale man that she saw on the same day she first me Dr. Frankenstein.
The Prince of Transylvania.
"You are..." Amelia widened her eyes. "Dracula?"
The pale man opened up an umbrella and put it over her head.
"You're going to get a cold in this type of rain. You need to keep yourself healthy, Miss Orchard. Or the Black Blood may find its way to you." The pale man said.
"You remember my name?"
"Of course. I always remember the name of a beautiful woman."
Amelia blushed gently. She suddenly realized that she was leaning on his chest and was basically in his arms.
She pushed him away and stepped back, putting herself in the rain once more.
Carter put the umbrella over her.
"Careful now. You don't want to get yourself wet."
Amelia adjusted herself and breathed in deeply.
"Thank you, sir. But I can manage myself."
She turned away.
But Carter wouldn't let her.
The pale man got in front of her in such a speed that surprised her. But her mental state was too fragile to notice the weirdness of it.
""What are you doing?" Amelia squinted her eyes.
"Please, do not think badly of me. The state of the city is not safe. Please allow me to walk you to your house."
"I told you. I can manage myself. And you are a little creepy being so persistent, Mister..."
"My last name is Wampyr, Miss. It is a little rare, so I understand that you didn't remember it."
"Alright, Mister Wampyr. What do you want? You see a helpless woman and you want to take advantage of her?"
'Clever little bird. That is exactly what I want.' Carter thought to himself.
The pale man chuckled.
"I see. Then would you like me to walk you to the police station? Then you can find a reliable officer to help you get home. Otherwise, these Infected may attack you."
Seeing the complete harmless expression on the pale man's face, Amelia's tension temporarily relaxed.
'Maybe he doesn't have any bad idea. Maybe he is just a gentleman.'
Amelia remembered to the first time they met. Dracula was also a very polite and charming man. He didn't cross over the line at all. Besides, he was also a very handsome and charismatic man.
Amelia figured he would have a dozen of countess running after him. He wouldn't be interested in a commoner like her.
"I'm sorry for my attitude, Mr. Wampyr. I was... a little upset."
"That I can see."
Amelia blushed a little.
"I... Uh... I don't have a place to stay actually. So maybe I will find an inn to spend the night."
'I know, Amelia. I know. That is where I come in.'
The pale man stepped forward closer. His eyes glowed red.
Carter looked directly into Amelia's eyes. Her gaze dazed off by a little.
"An inn? Such a beautiful woman like you can't stay at an inn. Come to my mansion. I have many rooms for you."
Amelia should have refused. Amelia should have walked away. But she had fallen into the hand of Dracula.
Carter's hypnotism worked wonderfully as Amelia nodded her head.
'Why did I nod?' Amelia asked herself.
She didn't know.
The pale man wrapped his arm around her. She didn't push him away this time. They walked away in the night.
The empty street was full of howling winds. Dr. Watson walked out from the alley and looked at the direction they had left.
'Isn't that Amelia? Who is that man?' There was a feeling inside Dr. Watson that night. A feeling that he came to regret many times in the future.
He could have saved her. He could have saved the love of his friend. But he didn't listen to his guts.
Dr. Watson turned around and walked toward the direction of the Institute.
Carter actually didn't own any mansions in Luandon. But he had many thanked to the courtesy of his children.
Each First Generations had gifted him many properties. He just didn't want to stay in them. And the other characters didn't have a good reason to use them either.
Carter entered the Crimson Villa, a place that his good son, Thomas Willis had prepared for him.
The butler, a vampire of course, came out and greeted him with incredible warmth.
He didn't stay in these properties. But the First Generations assigned servants to take care of it, in case he would come like that night.
"All Father..." The butler bowed.
"What's your name, child?"
"Albert, Father."
Dracula smiled. He leaned closer and whispered.
"Take care of this woman. Have maids bathe her and prepare her. Give her the best dress you can find. A good one with not much cloth. Feed her to her heart desire. Then lead her to my bedroom."
Albert smiled wickedly. "Is this... a new High Mother, Father?"
"I don't know. Maybe."
Albert nodded. "I will take care of her, Father. The maids will make sure she is squeaky clean. We have the best and latest perfume imported from Vitalia. It will certainly make her... delicious."
"Good boy."
Albert led the daze Amelia away. She was still confused about what was happening. But her mind was deep in the hypnotism that she couldn't know better.
'You have feelings for Frankenstein, Amelia Orchard. You grow a connection to him because you took care of him. But is it really true? Why don't I give you a challenge to test that out?'
Carter was thinking up of a plot that he had made himself. It was the twisted love story that people loved to hate.
'A love triangle between Amy, me, and myself.'
Carter laughed thinking about the implications of the script. In the end, Amelia was still his. He was just putting the most interesting story up front.
