Chapter 50- The Rise (Part 8)
Chapter 50- The Rise (Part 8)
Realizing the disaster about to befall them, Rein clenched his teeth as he leaped in the air, landing on one of the more intact spots before he leaped again, closing the distance between him and Virgo.
"You won’t see the light of day, Rein!!!" Virgo yelled as he shot another bullet, aimed directly at Rein. The latter had already anticipated that as he quickly slashed with his sword. His reaction speed would’ve never been enough to deflect bullets, but Rein wasn’t using his reaction speed and rather his intuition and Life Essence to predict where the bullet would go and deflect it.
It was something that Rein started naturally doing without even realizing, as if his body knew the normal and right way of dealing with extremely fast projectiles.
*CLING* *CLING* *CLING*
His hand moved like a flash, slicing through the bullets as shards of melted iron flew everywhere around him.
"Die! Die! Die!!!" Virgo yelled in a crazed tone as he kept shooting endlessly. His gun seemed to have an infinite magazine of bullets. Rein tried to deflect as many as he could, using all his focus and power to fight that.
However, even then, Rein was still a human... Several bullets passed through. One hit his shoulder, the other sliced his cheek, and the last hit him right in the chest... Only for his chestplate to deflect it.
Landing on the ground, Rein used all the momentum he had built up as he launched himself forward like a flash. His eyes turned way sharper as if he knew that this was the moment... He either slices his enemy’s head or he will die trying.
Every muscle in his body pumped with strength, every cell in his being seemingly started working with one single goal in mind... Slice the head of the man in front of him. Everything around him, the rain, the crumbling ground, the world that was seemingly ending before his eyes... It all didn’t matter.
When his prey was there, a hunter would never care about anything happening around them. Until their target is dead... The world could go to hell for all they care.
Virgo clenched his teeth as he shot the bullet again, as he leaned back instinctively. The bullet flew toward Rein, cutting through the rain droplets. Rein felt as if he could see the bullet in slow motion, approaching him.
He had never entered a state of focus as deep as that one. He felt as if his mind had broken through a limit he didn’t know existed before. His head tilted to the side as the bullet barely passed him...
*Swish*
Then, he changed the grip on his sword as he twisted his body, slicing down with all his power. His sword clashed with the barrier around Virgo’s body.
"...!!!" Virgo’s eyes widened as he felt the weight of the hit. As if a truck slammed into his body. ’Shit!!!!’
Then, he saw the barrier, his sturdy barrier, and his strongest skill, crack. That single moment made his heart stop.
*Crack* *Crack*
The cracks spread quickly, way faster than he could move to save himself. The sword didn’t spare him either, as the moment it created that weakness, it pierced through.
Everything went white for Virgo for a second as his expression froze. Then, his vision returned as he saw a dark red color fill his vision. The blood splurted everywhere around him as he felt a burning sensation in his chest.
A large sword mark formed on his torso, going down diagonally from his shoulder to his hips. Everything happened so slowly and yet also in an instant. Rein’s sword retracted as he pulled himself back, breathing heavily.
*Drop*
Virgo fell to the ground, blood quickly pooling beneath him as he stared up at the rain. His eyes were oddly calm even as he was bleeding to death.
Rein simply stared at him as he held his shoulder and tried to regulate his breathing. He could barely stand from the immense pain as he used his sword as a cane to keep standing.
"Cough... Cough..." Virgo coughed as a smile appeared on his face. A rather soft, nostalgic smile that was filled with emotions he hadn’t felt in a very long time... Peace.
An image of a woman appeared in his vision.
"Mom! I promise you, I will become the strongest in the world and protect you!!" A young boy’s voice yelled in his mind, echoing through it. The woman’s smile formed before his eyes.
’I’m sorry... mom... I couldn’t achieve that dream...’
Those were his thoughts before darkness slowly consumed him and ate everything he ever felt... Sadness, anger, hope, revenge... And even love.
On that dark, rainy night... Virgo was no more.
Rein stared down at the man and his motionless corpse. His eyes were cold and distant. The rain washed all his blood as he stood silently. Even as the building and the entire world were splitting open, he didn’t care to look anywhere else for a few moments.

*BOOOOM*
Outside the building, the battle between Violet, Teo, and the two agents was brutal. Violet used her cycle to cast all her abilities on the targets. The world around her didn’t help her move out of their grasp.
However, at the same time, she wasn’t the weak girl she was before. She was far stronger and faster... And so was Teo, surprisingly.
"Give up, Violet! You are fighting a losing battle!" One of the agents yelled as they spat a mouthful of blood. Burn marks and frost bites appeared all over their bodies from all the spells Violet manifested. They could barely stand.
At the same time, Violet had a nasty injury on her left arm, rendering it completely useless. Teo, on the other hand, looked as if he had been beaten up. Bruises and blood marks were all over his body.
Both sides suffered immense damage.
"I won’t give up! You’d better kill me if you want that." Violet replied with a disdainful tone. ’Rein... Please... I hope you’re ok. Don’t die, please.’ She thought to herself. She knew that Reinw was still inside the building, and so was her family.
But, she couldn’t really run for their rescue. Instead, she had to deal with these two. So, she sucked a deep breath as she spun her cycle again, stopping at a random element... Fire.
A large ball of fire formed in her hand. She used a lot of her Life Essence already, but she ignored the pain and launched the ball at them.
The two tried to dodge out of the way, but... Violet had already anticipated that as she snapped her finger.
*BOOOM*
The ball of fire exploded near them, sending tongues of fire everywhere.
"AAAAAH!!!"
The two were hit directly by the blazing flames as they fell to the ground, crying in pain. The rain helped kill the fire that was burning them, but not before their skin turned crisp and burnt.
"Now, Teo!!" She yelled.
The latter nodded as he dashed forward with his dagger in his hand and shookly stabbed down. He didn’t even want to look and closed his eyes. The man grabbed his arm at the last second before he could reach him.
"H-Huh?!"
"You... bastard!!"
"Teo!!"
