Chapter 51- The Rise (Part 9)
"Aaaa... Aaaaa..." Teo’s hand shook as he tried to force the dagger down. However, the agent was still stronger than him, or at least equal to him in strength, so he was stuck there, unable to push it any further. At the same time, the agent used his other hand to try to punch him in the face or poke his eyes.
"Get off me!" He yelled as he hit Teo while the latter covered his head. He didn’t want to give up or let go. His teeth were clenched, and his eyes were still in immense fear. Yet, his hand gripped the dagger till it became white from the lack of blood circulation.
’Die!!!!’ Teo’s face turned red from sheer exhaustion and relentless desire to kill his target. He had done enough cowardice in his life; he had promised himself that he would become stronger, that he would forget how much of a pathetic man he was, and start a new page.
He had promised himself, again and again, and yet he still failed to see that large bear, and he ran away... Again. The feeling of bitterness and anger that he experienced as he ran for his life was unlike anything he had experienced before. That was perhaps the lowest moment in his life, and he knew that.
So, deep down, he understood that this situation was perhaps his last opportunity to actually find himself... His true self. This was his last chance to be the man he wanted to be since a kid.
’I won’t... give up! I won’t give up now!! I don’t want to be the same again!!’ His eyes flared with endless emotions as his Life Essence exploded everywhere around him.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" He grumbled loudly as he put all his force into his dagger. The man felt the pressure increase tremendously as he panicked and grabbed the dagger with both hands, trying to stop it as panic settled in his eyes. His legs kicked at Teo’s back, trying to make him falter or stop for a second.
However, it was as if the man had been possessed by a demon. He could see it, the crazed intent to end his life, and that made him shudder for a second.
The dagger kept descending slowly toward his chest.
"Fuck! Fuuuuck!!! Get off me, you bastard!!! You won’t dare to kill!!" He yelled.
However, Teo ignored him completely as if he didn’t even hear him. One inch after the other... Until the dagger reached his chest and started sinking into it.
"I...I’m not the same person." He muttered. "I’m sorry... But, I won’t let myself fall into that pit again. The Teo from the past is no longer." His eyes opened again, showing a new light he didn’t have before.
*Swish*
The dagger was planted into Marco’s chest as his eyes widened to the extreme... He tried to breathe, but he found himself unable to... Slowly, his strength waned and then the light in his eyes dissipated.
He died.
"Hah... Hah... Hah..." Teo breathed heavily as he dropped back, his head arched back as he tried to calm his racing heart. ’I did it... I actually did it... I killed someone... I... killed someone.’
A mixed feeling of immense fear and weird excitement filled his heart. He didn’t know how he was able to pull such a ridiculous thing off, but he somehow did it.
"Hahaha... Hahaha... Hahahaha!" He started laughing in a crazed state.
"Teo?"
"Hahahaha..."
"Teo!"
"Huh?" Snapping out of his daze, he stared to the side as he saw Violet approaching him. Behind her laid the corpse of the other agent, motionless... clearly dead.
"Good job." She said. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I’m fine... I think."
"Good. We need to move. The building is about to crumb-"
"Violet!!"
At that moment, before Violet could even turn around, she saw a group rushing toward her from a distance. She squinted her eyes through the rain and saw them as her eyes lit up.
"Mom! Dad! Emily!!!" She yelled as she ran toward them. Her arms wrapped around them tightly as she hugged them with all her might. "You’re fine! You’re all fine!"
"Are you fine, honey? Oh my god, you’re bleeding everywhere!" Her mother looked at her with concerned eyes.
"I’m fine. What about you, Alex?"
"I’m ok... We didn’t get injured." Alex replied with a nod.
Then, Violet looked around her as her expression darkened. "Where is Rein?"
"Rein is..." The group stared at one another with a difficult expression.
"He’s still inside," Alex replied. "He paved the path for us to escape. I think he’s still fighting Virgo."
"What?! But..."
*CRASH*
"The building is crumbling!" She said. "He needs to get now!"
Turning to the warehouse, she was about to run toward it when Alex grabbed her arm.
"You can’t go in there, Violet! The building is collapsing!"
"But, Rein!"
"What would you even do, huh? You’re running to your death. Maybe he will figure a way out." Alex said with a cold tone.
"..." Violet pursed her lips, her face pale and terrified as she stopped and looked at the building. ’Rein, please... be safe. Please...’ She thought to herself.
With each large rock falling to the ground, her heart would fall with it. They all stood there, under the rain, waiting with dark looks on their faces. At that point, most of the building had turned into rubble, and only small parts of it remained intact.
They all could only watch as the harsh truth slowly dawned on them. There was no way anyone could truly escape a building that crumbled on their heads. Not to mention that Rein had to somehow escape Virgo or kill him before he could do that, which would be extremely hard in and of itself.
Eventually, the last parts of the building gave out, and everything fell to the ground. The entire warehouse was leveled by the immense earthquake.
"No..." Violet muttered with a wavering voice as she stared blankly at the state of the warehouse. She was completely shocked, unable to even think.
Cain looked down with a deep frown on his face while Victoria put her hand on her mouth.
"Uncle Rein..." Emily muttered as she grabbed her mother’s hand.
"No... Rein..." Violet tried to step forward, her eyes still wide open. She wanted to go and search through the rubble. She wanted to call for his name, to do anything instead of painfully standing there and staring at that horrific scene.
The suffocation she experienced at that moment, the sheer terror, and the emotions that went through her.
’You promised me you won’t die... Rein... You promised. You can’t break your promise. You can’t.’ She thought to herself as she walked toward the rubble. ’You can’t die. You promised you would escape if you felt that your life was threatened. You told me not to worry... You told...’
As tears welled up in her eyes, and as she was about to crumble to the ground just like that building.
"How much I hate dust. *Cough* *Cough* It’s like I’m breathing flour."
"...!!!"
Everyone turned around immediately when they heard that voice. There, standing behind them, with his back leaning against the wall, was none other than Rein... Staring up, he looked at them.
"It seems everyone is fine. That’s good."
