Chapter 1206 - 1205: Don’t Move
Ji Nuan’s guess was spot on—Ada woke up not long after they had finished their lunch. However, the effects of the Sharp Tooth Grass potion in his system had not yet worn off.
Awa helped him sit up and drink a bowl of broth, along with some well-stewed meat.
During this time, Ada’s gaze remained fixed on his injured leg.
"Shaman Ji Nuan said, Brother, you absolutely must not move your leg carelessly, or the freshly set bone might deform again," Awa reminded him.
Ada froze for a moment, then nodded regretfully. He had been thinking of moving his leg once the potion’s effects wore off to check if it had healed.
At that moment, Ji Nuan entered the mountain cave from the side: "Brother Xiu Yan said he heard Ada’s voice, so I came to take a look."
She carried a small basket in her hand, filled with herbs.
"Is the Shaman preparing bitter water for Brother?" Awa stood up.
Ji Nuan nodded, handing the basket of herbs and a pot to him: "Pour these herbs into the pot, fill it with water, and boil it down until there’s only one bowl’s worth left."
Awa stiffened and stared at Ji Nuan in surprise: "Sh-Shaman, do you mean... I’m the one who has to brew the bitter water?"
Ji Nuan looked at the orc curiously: "Of course. Or do you expect me to personally brew it?"
With a wave of her hand, she added, "Go quickly. Ada needs to drink it as soon as possible. If it’s delayed, he will suffer greatly."
"Shaman Ji Nuan, does this potion also contain the same pain-numbing ingredient you gave me yesterday?" Ada asked.
Ji Nuan gave Ada a brief glance. "Yes, because if you don’t drink that potion, the pain in your injured leg might cause you to move recklessly.
Then all of our efforts will be wasted."
Seeing that he understood his condition, Ji Nuan left.
Time passed swiftly, and by the next morning, the howling winds outside the cave had subsided, leaving behind a peaceful quiet.
Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan had gotten out of bed early. It was the first time the orcs had spent the chill season in the desert, and they were eagerly anticipating what the oasis would look like after the sandstorm.
As they opened the heavy stone door, Ji Nuan stepped out, bundled up in thick cotton clothing and a beast skin coat, hiding behind Xiu Yan.
The sight outside stunned Ji Nuan. The once golden desert was now blanketed in a layer of white, like a cottony quilt.
Snowflakes, soft as Gagabeast fur, were gently dancing and falling from the sky.
"It snows in the desert too!" Ji Nuan exclaimed, reaching out to catch a few snowflakes, watching as they melted in the warmth of her palm.
The sandstorm had stopped at some point, and the snow on the ground was already quite thick.
Ji Nuan could hear the lively chatter of orcs near the lakeside. "Looks like everyone’s out fetching water now that the sandstorm has stopped. Let’s go and take a look."
Xiu Yan glanced at her, then turned back toward the cave.
Ji Nuan touched her nose, wondering if she had said something wrong.
She racked her brain to figure it out, but still couldn’t think of anything.
It wasn’t until she felt a weight on her shoulders and found herself wrapped in a warm beast skin cloak that she realized and grinned sheepishly at the tall, stoic orc beside her. "Brother Xiu Yan went back to grab a cloak for me!"
The orc raised an eyebrow and looked at her, bending slightly to gather her into his arms. "Then what did you think I went back to do?"
