Leisurely Farm Life in Beast World

Chapter 1198 - 1197: Intense Pain

Awa swiftly entered while carrying a tightly-wrapped Ada in his arms, and Xiu Yan quickly shut the stone door.

Ji Nuan pointed to the ground near the fire pit and said, "You can put him there for now."

Awa placed the orc, wrapped layer upon layer, by the crackling fire pit. With the warmth from the fire seed, Ada’s heavy breathing lightened noticeably.

The beast skin was unfolded, revealing a frail-looking orc before Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan. Ada was even thinner than before and appeared very unhealthy—exhaustion written all over him, his eyes bloodshot.

"Have you not rested for several days?" Ji Nuan asked him gravely.

The warm glow of the fire eased the intense pain in Ada’s leg. He let out a sigh of relief and nodded, "Yes. It used to hurt every night, but I’ve grown accustomed to it. Recently, however, the pain has been growing increasingly severe each day."

Ji Nuan sighed lightly, "You didn’t properly care for your injury after getting hurt, and now you’re paying the price for it."

She couldn’t help but surmise that perhaps something despairing had occurred after Ada injured his leg.

"Brother Xiu Yan, can you help bring me the treatment supplies I prepared earlier?" Ji Nuan turned to the orc with a sullen expression.

Although begrudging, the orc still moved his long legs towards the woodpile in the cavern and retrieved a small carrying basket.

Ji Nuan took the basket from the orc’s hands with amusement. "Thank you for your hard work, Brother Xiu Yan."

The orc shot her a deep gaze, then sneered, "Hmph."

Well, that cold laugh was really something!

While pulling a knotwood jar out of the basket, Ji Nuan muttered, "I had prepared these materials long ago and planned to treat you after the sandstorm passed. I didn’t expect your leg to have deteriorated this badly."

What Ji Nuan didn’t realize was how impactful her casual remarks were to the two orcs, Awa and Ada.

"Shaman, are you saying you’ve wanted to treat my leg for some time now?" Ada’s eyes brimmed with gratitude.

Ji Nuan looked up and saw him staring at her intently. She nodded, "Don’t get too emotional. I’m only agreeing to treat you because you’ve been diligent in watching over my firewood stash. If you had been slacking off, I wouldn’t bother with you at all."

Despite her words, both Ada and Awa knew that this kindhearted shaman had been mindful of Ada’s leg injury the entire time.

Xiu Yan handed her a bowl of clear water, and Ji Nuan poured a pinch of powder from the knotwood jar into it.

The water in the bowl instantly turned a pale green, releasing a faint herbal fragrance.

"Drink this potion and get a good sleep first."

Ada accepted the potion with a bitter smile. If he could sleep, he would’ve done so long ago; his leg pain had been tormenting him relentlessly.

He gulped down the potion and handed the bowl back to Ji Nuan, only to realize that the excruciating pain in his leg had vanished.

"My...my leg doesn’t hurt anymore!" he exclaimed, his voice shaking.

Next to him, Awa’s face lit up with joy as he knelt beside Ada excitedly. "Really, Brother? Your leg doesn’t hurt anymore?"

Ada nodded fervently in response, overcome with emotion.

However, it didn’t take long for him to notice something amiss—not just his leg, but his entire body felt limp and numb, completely devoid of sensation.

Seeing the hint of panic flash across his face, Ji Nuan smiled and reassured him, "This potion temporarily numbs the entire body. You won’t have any strength for now, but take this time to rest well. Regain your energy so we can properly treat you later."
