Chapter 1197 - 1196: Calling for Help
Awa nodded, then took a few pieces of beast skin by his side and covered Ada’s body. Only then did he move the large stone blocking the cave entrance, leaving just a narrow gap sufficient for himself to slip out. As soon as he exited, he blocked the entrance again with the stone.
But in that brief moment, a streak of cold wind managed to seep in. Inside the cave, Ada’s body trembled. He bit down hard on his forearm to suppress the scream that was about to escape his lips, managing to let out only a muffled groan.
"Shaman Ji Nuan! Shaman Ji Nuan!" The urgent cries woke up two dozing orcs.
Ji Nuan rubbed her eyes and looked toward the already-dressed orc. "Who is it?"
Xiu Yan glanced at her, his expression slightly displeased. "Seems like the younger brother of the lame orc."
"It must be Awa. You don’t even remember their names, do you?"
Xiu Yan snorted coldly. "Why bother remembering them?"
With that, he got up, bypassed the fire wall, and walked outside.
Ji Nuan also decided not to sleep anymore. She grabbed the cotton coat by her side, slipped it on, then put on cotton shoes before getting out of bed.
Outside, the stone door was opened. She could clearly hear voices of the orcs speaking—it was indeed Awa.
"Is that Awa? What happened?" Ji Nuan also walked out from behind the fire wall. Inside the mountain cave, the orc looked disheveled, his face streaked with cuts as though slashed by something sharp.
Awa’s eyes were slightly red. "My brother’s leg started hurting again. He’s been rolling on the ground, the pain so bad he’s nearly dying.
Shaman Ji Nuan, could we borrow some firewood and a fire seed? I want my brother to warm his leg."
"Ada’s leg is hurting again?" Ji Nuan, seeing his battered state, initially thought the tribe had been attacked. To her surprise, it turned out that it was Ada’s condition worsening. Looks like treatment for his leg can’t be delayed any longer.
"I can treat your brother’s leg and help him walk again so he can go out hunting. Do you want me to treat him?"
Ji Nuan looked at Awa, her face serious.
Awa suddenly felt as though he was plunged into the sweltering dry season, overwhelmed by an unreal sensation. He pinched his thigh hard and rasped, "Is it true? My brother can really stand up again, can really hunt?"
Ji Nuan nodded. "Yes."
With a thud, Awa dropped to his knees, his beastly face filled with determination. "Shaman Ji Nuan, please save my brother. If you can heal his leg, I’ll do anything you ask."
Ji Nuan waved her hand dismissively. "Let’s not talk about that for now. If I’m going to treat your brother, your mountain cave won’t do. Go back now and bring your brother here."
Awa nodded and got up quickly, seemingly afraid Ji Nuan might change her mind. He turned, opened the door, and dashed out.
A tall figure suddenly stepped in front of Ji Nuan, blocking the gust of cold wind that had just blown inside.
Even so, Ji Nuan couldn’t help but shiver. "Gosh~ It’s so cold."
"You told them to come here—where are they going to stay?" Xiu Yan frowned. What should have been a peaceful winter retreat was once again disrupted by intruding orcs.
The orc’s expression was somewhat sour.
Ji Nuan chuckled. Pointing to the kitchen nearby, she said, "Isn’t there a stove in the kitchen? Let them set up a sleeping area by the stove. Maomao and the others have a ton of dried grass over there. We can bring some over to layer the ground, then add a beast skin covering on top. It’ll be much cozier than their current living situation."
Just as the two orcs were talking, the stone door was knocked upon once again.
This time, Ji Nuan wisely hid behind the fire wall, avoiding the onslaught of cold wind.
