As soon as Ji Nuan got home, she instructed the orc to carry the little female cub into her bedroom.
The little female cub lay in the soft bedding, occasionally letting out pained moans, looking extremely pitiful.
The orc sat beside the kang, watching the cub in pain, and felt as if his heart was being stabbed repeatedly with an iron knife; his eyes reddened and he was once again brewing tears.
Ji Nuan went directly to the storeroom and prepared two doses of herbal medicine, giving one to Xiu Yan to brew into a bitter potion for the cub to drink.
The other packet was wrapped in a clean cloth by her and taken to the kitchen.
She took out a brand new porcelain pot, poured a full pot of water in it, and placed the bundled-up herbal sachet in, then covered the pot with a lid.

"Nuannuan, the bitter potion is ready," Xiu Yan’s voice rang from outside the door.
Ji Nuan stood up and saw Xiu Yan walking in with a bowl of steaming, bitter-smelling medicine. Ji Nuan took a small wooden spoon from the basket on the table, ready to join Xiu Yan in the bedroom to feed the cub, when suddenly she remembered something and turned back to the kitchen.
Looking back at a puzzled Xiu Yan, she pointed to a small basket hanging on the beam: "Could you bring that little basket down for me?"
Xiu Yan frowned slightly, "Is it for the honey?"
Ji Nuan shook her head, "The bitter potion tastes too strong; I’m worried the little cub might not drink it. Later, we’ll use honey to soothe her mouth."
Upon hearing this, Xiu Yan nodded, set down the bitter potion on the table beside him, walked over, and stretched out his arms to take down the small basket.
Ji Nuan quickly grabbed a clean small bowl and spoon, scooped a few spoonfuls of honey into the bowl, and then rejoined Xiu Yan to the bedroom.
The orc guarding the cub looked excited as they entered.
Rubbing his hands eagerly, he asked, "Shaman, is the bitter potion ready?"
Ji Nuan smiled and nodded, sat down by the kang, and watched the cub with her little face all red. She slowly scooped up a spoonful of the bitter potion, blew on it, and brought it to the little one’s mouth.
The harsh taste of the medicine instantly wafted into the cub’s nostrils, causing her delicate eyebrows to immediately furrow, and her little mouth puckered, refusing to open.
Seeing this, Ji Nuan gave a helpless smile, and the orc anxiously looked at Ji Nuan, his face full of anxiety, wondering what to do.
Ji Nuan, feeling uncertain, handed the bitter potion to the orc, turned around, and took the honey from Xiu Yan’s hands, using the clean wooden spoon to dab it onto the cub’s lips.
The little one tasted the sweetness, stretched out her tender pink tongue, and licked the honey from her lips.
Ji Nuan, amused, shook her head, knowing that no child can ever resist the temptation of sweets.
She then took the bitter potion from the orc, lowered her head and whispered into the cub’s ear, "Little one, you can only have the sweet water of the Buzzing Insects after you finish the bitter potion."
The cub’s delicate eyebrows wrinkled again, issuing a few incomprehensible grunts.
Ji Nuan, smiling, stroked the little one’s head and scooped up another spoonful of the bitter potion, bringing it to her mouth.
This time, the little one actually opened her small mouth directly and swallowed the bitter potion, the bitter taste instantly spreading in her mouth.
