Chapter 64: Forgotten City: The Shore [4]
"So even monsters can feel fear, huh?"
The entire shore was clean and free of the one large horde of monsters all because of the one ability of a human standing on the shore.
However, he wasn’t the only being here. There were five other creatures, but they floating in the air and covered in a yellow barrier.
Aegon noticed the barrier; it was made out of mana and he thought in his heart.
’I am guessing they saw the ability activate, knew what it was in fear and with fast instincts they protected themselves.’
’It would only make sense. They are the ones that need to be alive so they can create more monsters later on.’
Aegon understood the situation very clearly but it was more than that.
The monster mages, when they saw him leaped, the energy that was concentrated at that moment in that particular time; in his body and on the dagger was so intense that they instinctively felt a need to protect themselves from whatever was supposed to happen.
And after the execution they saw nothing remained and were consumed by more fear.
Making them monsters that felt fear.
Aegon was on the ground and looked up. The mages monsters had already moved more up in the air, keeping a great distance away from Aegon
Seeing this, he knew they had nothing left to do, or they were probably trying to cook their next move.
So he simple place his head down and looked at the two system windows hovering before him.
[Ding! Quest Complete!]
[Quest: Kill the Ghouls and earn the title "Killer of Ghouls" status: Completed.]
[Enemies Killed: 3590/3590]
[New Title Obtained: "Killer of Ghouls"!]
[New Feature Unlocked: System Points (SP)!]
[Description: SP can be used to upgrade the level of stats and can also be used to purchase items like weapons, materials, potions and other equipment in the ’Shop’. SPs can be obtained after completion of quests and purchasing expensive items, as a return]
[Current SP: 1000]
"Hm? System Points?"
Aegon saw the new feature and was amazed by it. Since long it has been the system increasing his stats based on his performance after every quests.
However, now that has changed. Aegon can now upgrade each of his stats based on his preference.
"Upgrading of stats is cool but I can always max it with mana."
This was indeed true, but it can be a little tasking. While he can use mana to engulf himself and fight, the limit will be broken as he would be pushing himself beyond his limit while at the same time using mana to activate his skills and abilities.
At this point, he had already removed the mana that surrounded himself likewise for that of the dagger.
This wasn’t a good combination and style of fighting because of how much it would weigh on him.
However, if he manually maxed his stats through the use of the system point, this won’t be a problem anymore.
That is, because the stats which are natural and not enforced by mana, making his fight smooth and more effective.
Both ways could still work perfectly, but the latter is more preferable.
"Make sense."
Although increasing stats with system points was good, it wasn’t really what intrigued Aegon.
’I can also use it to buy items in the shop?’
This was very much what caught Aegon’s interest. His current and only weapon is nearly on the brink of death so he needed a new one.
’I thought about forging a new one, but I can purchase it in the shop? That’s a lot more convenient.’
Aegon’s lips curved into this smile while he was looking down at what only him could see; the system window.
However, on rhe other hand, the mages monsters that were floating were puzzled to why that humans was having such expression while staring at the ground.
Is he insane?
They were supposed to be cooking their next plot but they couldn’t keep their eyes of him, as he looked strange.
How can such a person ignore them as though they didn’t matter or exit?
It was as if their presence wasn’t there. But, although it was, he didn’t seem to acknowledge it.
This spiked a certain feeling in the monsters which made them go for their next trick.
This thing is, Aegon never felt like they didn’t exist, infact he was on his guard waiting for their strike, but how would know of this?
There were still mere monsters even with the small intelligence they possessed.
Aegon looked at the other system window and saw that he had obtained the title ’killer of ghouls’, but didn’t feel anything particular to it.
Then his eyes met with another system window which just appeared. It was his status window and the first thing he looked at was his remaining MP.

____END____
’Amazing, it has only gone down by one percent.’
The thrill in Aegon’s face was surreal. He couldn’t imagine it; once there was difficulty and he had to manage his mana, but now not more.
’I never really thought about it after getting this mana, it has not been sucked away like the previous.’
’Does it have something to do with?...’
He place his right hand on his chest and felt the pendant there, which was given to him by Suisho.
In that moment, Aegon’s eyes scanned through his status window and saw all that was there.
There were things that he hadn’t used yet, like the ’shop’ and some skills. Also some other things that he didn’t even know what they were all about, like the ’white room’.
These were for another time as in this moment a sound was heard which drew his attention.
Aegon gazed quickly and moved up looking at the monster mages but everything seemed normal, except that they had already removed their barrier.
"Hm."
Aegon knew this wasn’t what he heard as the barrier wasn’t going to make such a cracked sound.
During this moment, his deflection field ability was still active and the worn out dagger was in his right hand.
His gaze moved around to find what had made such a sound; even looking at the ground to see if he stepped on anything but he didn’t since he hadn’t moved for a while.
Crack!
The sound came again, this time more loud as Aegon raised his head. He looked at the wall of the city and felt something strange about it.
In that moment, all the statues that were in standing in stone suddenly broke out of the stone and dropped to the ground.
The animals that were once statues were alive and normal on the ground with their skin and appearance intact.
However, just then, lights fell from above and landed on each and every animal and in that moment they all began to change form.
A normal looking tiger with a good form of four limbs, claws, and fangs suddenly changes to a big cat over three hundred feet tall.
Its eyes were beaming with flames, its claws also emitting flames. Its appearance had changed and it wasn’t the only one.
Every other animal also change to a massive monster with a specific power assigned to them, making them strong.
Aegon looked at this newly born monsters which were the handwork of the mages.
Although the monsters were not much in number, about just over a hundred; they were massive and could use mana, meaning they had a certain ability or skill in their possession.
Aegon looked unfazed as he looked up at the new monsters, then uttered.
"Give me a break."
