Chapter 63: Forgotten City: The Shore [3]
[Enemies Killed: 20/?]
[Enemies Killed: 57/?]
[Enemies Killed: 105/?]
Aegon had rushed into the midst of the monsters and was killing them like files.
He used his dagger to slice their heads off which was the only way they could be killed.
At first when he started, he only cut off their hands and most of the time legs; when he saw the chance, but they had super regeneration speed and grew them back.
They proved difficult to kill until a certain humanoid ghoul rushed to him in full strength and Aegon instinctively cut off its head and the ghoul turned into ashes which was recorded as his first kill.
Since then, Aegon had aimed for the heads of everything ghoul that attacked him and was successful in killing them.
[Enemies Killed: 235/?]
He moved with tremendous speed and agility that it was very difficult for the monsters to follow his every move.
If he was to move left and they think that, but he would suddenly move right and they would think that again, but then he would move up or down and continue to confuse them.
His movement was unstable which gave him the upper hand in killing them. Even the mages who were floating in the sky couldn’t match his speed.
For a time they would aim to send their fire at him, but he would dodge, and the flame would hit and burn a certain ghoul on the ground if not more at once.
This happened a certain number of times, and when Aegon saw that many of the ghouls were on fire, he would quickly move to them and cut their heads instantly.
Seeing that they were not making any progress, the mages stopped firing as they were just killing their own, but that didn’t mean they felt defeated.
On the other hand, Aegon continued to kill as much as he could. He only used his dagger for now, and not any skills or abilities.
The only ability that he was using was the absolute deflection field which had already become, a body suit armor.
He was untouchable.
Aegon wanted to have fun while going on a killing streak so he didn’t use any more ability at the moment.
However, this wasn’t a mere killing any longer, this was a massacre. He was ending their lives like they meant nothing.
Over a thousand ghouls that are known to be dominators of death, yet they were being killed like flies.
While Aegon was running at full speed, his stamina didn’t reduce and the fatigue didn’t increase.
Everything was normal and calm like he wasn’t even moving or doing anything at all. It was strange to him, yet he took advantage of it.
His mana pool on the other hand was still full and so he wanted to make use of it to increase his killing streak more.
[Enemies Killed: 375/?]
Aegon released a portion of mana and surrounded himself after the layer of the deflection field.
It wasn’t just for protection but to increase his stats, his speed, his ability, his sense and intelligence.
The mana pool didn’t shift a bit as he made this modification, so he extended the mana to his dagger.
The dagger was already almost off its job. He had been using it to kill a lot of monsters and since it wasn’t very high in quality, it was starting to lose its edge.
’Although I bought it very expensive, it’s still no different from an ordinary dagger. If I need something better, I need to forge one out of something stronger.’
Aegon noticed the dagger losing its edge, yet he was unfazed. Since he was in a battle and couldn’t start looking for where he would forge a new one, the only option he had was to engulf it in mana.
[Enemies Killed: 655/?]
His killing streak increased drastically after he had covered himself and the dagger with mana.
At this point, he was moving at almost the speed of sound; so fast that the monsters on the ground all stood, trying to figure out where he was, or coming from.
However, they couldn’t, which gave Aegon ample time to execute them without worries.
Since they stood in confusion, he was able to cut them off very fast, to the point that he sliced over fifty heads symmetrically under the same second.
[Enemies Killed: 799/?]
However, even with this fast movement and ample time to kill more, it wasn’t still enough for him to kill over a thousand monsters.
At the current moment he had barely reached a thousand and there were more of them; about three times of a thousand, or even more.
’Just where do they keep coming from?’
The thought crossed Aegon’s mind as he killed them. This was a very important question and he needed to know.
’None of them are coming back to life because it is impossible. After they are killed, they turn to ash and dissipate.’
’Yet, their number is even more than normal.’
[Enemies Killed: 1001?]
As Aegon saw that he had reached over a thousand kills, he stopped for a moment and looked up.
’You guys are the one doing this, isn’t it?’
Looking up, Aegon could see the five mages holding their staff and the heads were glowing in different colors.
They weren’t firing flames anymore but seemed to be casting a spell that had already taken effect.
"Expected."
SLICE’
Aegon sliced the necks of five monsters at the same time, which had come to attack him; he did this even as he was still looking up.
Seeing that the monster mages in the air were holding their staffs strangely with the light that indicated a spell was taking effect, Aegon concluded in his heart.
’They are the ones doing this.’
He was certain and all along he had thought of them to be more than just monsters. And he was right, they were not just monsters, but monsters with intelligence.
"So it is not that these ghouls are endlessly coming out from somewhere, it is that these mages are the ones making them."
"Hmph."
[Enemies Killed: 1078/?]
While he was thinking he was still killing as his sense was very sharp that any ghoul who approached him would be killed instantly.
Although because of his concentration wasn’t full, the killing rate has reduced.
However, that wasn’t going to be the case in the coming seconds. Since Aegon had known the source of the ghouls, he knew who his target was supposed to be.
"Taking them down should be easy enough even though they are floating, but I can’t concentrate on them if they use any tricks."
"Plus, I still have these ones to deal with."
Aegon placed his head down as stared at the large amount of ghouls who were rushing towards him because he had just stopped moving for a moment.
It could be reasonable seeing that they couldn’t keep track of him while he was moving and felt this like a great opportunity.
However, that opportunity didn’t last long as Aegon dashed forward, towards their direction, unfazed.
Looking from the view of the ocean to the shore, he was the sole person at the right, his hands at his back as he ran, while on the left was a horde of monsters rushing to him.
The blood moon bathed this scene which looked magnificent in a single frame. If there was a possible camera here, capturing this sense would be a very great achievement.
His trench coat danced with the wind caused by his movement and just as he was about to crash into them, he leaped, his dagger pointing to the ground and the words left his mouth.
"Particle Execution!"
In that instant, space itself seems to play a specific role in this activation as it warped around every monster on the ground; crushing them, and in less than a mini seconds they all bursted into nothing.
No proof of their existence remained behind.
[Enemies Killed: 3590/3595]
Aegon landed on the ground, stared at the number of kills on the system and saw that he had erased over three thousand monsters but only five remained.
"Five?"
He looked up and saw the mages floating, covered in what looked like a yellow barrier; their body posture was in a form that looked as if they were in fear.
How couldn’t they? They just saw their whole legion erased out of existence by a single human.
So why wouldn’t they be in fear?
"Hmph."
