Evolution Online: Building a Kingdom with 100\% drop rate

Chapter 41: Ch-41: Meteor Town and Attack

After Victor dealt with his ambushers, he followed the map and arrived at a small town close to Moonlight City.

Meteor Town is a large town located within the Eindrik Kingdom, and despite its name, it is comparable in size to the fortified city of Patrian. This town was said to have been built after a large meteor struck this place and killed all wild monsters within the region. Before that, it was infested with monsters, and there would be frequent dungeon breakouts.

Originally, it was a small village. However, there are many places nearby suitable for both beginner and intermediate-level travelers.

As these places became famous, the number of visitors gradually increased.

There is a rumor that it will be upgraded to a city in the near future if this trend continues.

As soon as Victor entered the town, his eyes furrowed. "Something’s not right."

Victor looked around the town and saw not a single living being in sight, and many of the buildings were destroyed. According to the information he had gathered, this place was always filled with activity, and guards were stationed everywhere, but now the town seemed to resemble a ghost town.

Victor walked deeper into the town and finally saw some human presence, but many of them were tense and alert, as if they were watching out for something.

Victor approached a guard who was on high alert. The guard shot a wary look at Victor.

"Excuse me, can you tell me what’s going on here? I can feel something is wrong in the town."

"You are not from here, right?" the guard relaxed slightly and looked at Victor, and he nodded. "Figures, you wouldn’t know. A few days ago, there was a dungeon break, and monsters rampaged through the town, killing many residents. We have been on high alert and tense for the past few days."

Victor’s eyes widened as he thought, ’Could it be related to the hidden dungeon?’

"Can you elaborate?" Victor asked, and the guard gave him a look.

"Like I said, a few days ago, all of a sudden monsters started appearing. After some investigation, the Lord of this place confirmed that there is a hidden dungeon somewhere from which the monsters are coming. But even after searching for so long, we could not find it. We have asked the capital for help but still have not received any reply yet. The Lord even tried looking for Warlocks, but still has not managed to find any," the guard said in one breath.

"I see," Victor muttered, and then looked at him and said, "Maybe I can help you."

The guard looked at Victor strangely and said, "You? Are you a noble or a Warlock?"

"Actually, I am indeed a Warlock," Victor said as lightning flickered in his hand. Seeing this, the guard’s eyes bulged out, and he looked at him in disbelief, and then his body shook with excitement.

"A Warlock! A real Warlock!" the guard looked at Victor with heated eyes as if he were seeing something precious, which made Victor take a few steps back.

"Can you take me to your Lord?" Victor said calmly.

"Of course, I—" The guard’s words froze when—

BOOM!

Both of them snapped their heads toward the distance and saw a small mushroom cloud rising.

Victor saw the guard’s face turn paper white upon seeing this.

"Oh no, another attack!"

"Damn, we were just attacked yesterday!"

"Damn, these monsters!"

"Hurry, go to the underground bunkers!"

The crowd that had been walking suddenly froze upon seeing this, and then broke out in panic and started fleeing the area.

"Senior, please help us," the guard said as he bowed 90 degrees.

"Let’s go," Victor said without hesitation as they began running toward the area.

"Young Lady Daphne, you’re coming?!" asked a female voice as her expression changed.

"Obviously. Tell me how things are now. That’s an order!" demanded the young lady.

"But, Young Lady, your father—" the guard seemed to hesitate.

"Tell me now! I command you!" exclaimed Daphne.

"Listen, Young Lady... things aren’t good here. A group of creatures—monsters more powerful than last time—are destroying the entire place! They’re coming from some point inside, and they won’t stop," the guard said in panic.

The sound of gunfire and blasts could be heard from the distance, and a guard advised, "Young Lady, you must go!"

"Let’s go! I want to find my father!" ordered Daphne.

"But your father—" the guard said hesitantly.

"I will go, and no one can stop me. If you try, I will fight you, and I doubt you want to lay a hand on me," Daphne said. The guards seemed to fall into hesitation. Seeing this chance, Daphne slipped past them and sprinted toward the fight.

"Damn, follow her!" the guard said in panic as the others rushed after Daphne.

A middle-aged man was shouting orders to his soldiers, surrounded by advisors and officers doing the same. Hundreds of troops were fighting a wave of monsters.

"Father!" she called.

The man, with white hair and a beard, turned abruptly, surprised to see his daughter.

"Daphne! What are you doing here? Are the guards useless?" he scolded.

"Father, how can you say that? I am your heir—I should fight alongside you," Daphne retorted.

Before they could continue talking, a massive blast occurred, decimating a large number of troops.

"Shit!" the Lord cursed and was about to launch a weapon skill at the monster.

"What...?" The Lord and the guards barely had time to react when, in the next moment, an explosion burst on the face of the enormous creature. They saw two more black lightning serpents attack the monster.

The creature was thrown backward, finally retreating for the first time, its face charred as it drooled and staggered.

"What is that?"

Immediately, people stopped attacking and saw a man controlling the serpents.

---------

As Victor arrived, he saw a number of players along with NPCs fighting.

There were hundreds of people wearing similar-looking armor, while the rest were wearing common and mismatched gear. It was obvious at a glance who the players were and who the NPCs were.

There are so many players here... Victor was slightly surprised, even feeling a little cautious, worried that he might reveal his identity once he started fighting.

"DEFEND THE CITY!"

The guards roared loudly, causing the atmosphere to instantly change, and the place quickly became a battlefield, with both the NPCs and the players engaged in fights with the monsters.

"How come there are such high-level monsters here in a beginner area?" Victor frowned as he used his pupil technique and saw that many of them were Tier 1. Even he would have trouble dealing with them if he had not obtained his latest lightning attacks, not to mention the strongest among them, which he presumed the Lord of the town had barely reached Tier 1 and was not a Warlock.

Victor saw they were about to get overwhelmed and launched black lightning serpents at a nearby monster.

-----------

No one from the people of Meteor City understood what was happening or recognized the man.

"Who is that?" some men with weapons in their hands asked, pointing them at Victor.

"Lower your weapons, idiots!" the guard who had followed Victor turned pale seeing them target him and hurriedly shouted. Seeing the panic, they lowered their weapons. The Lord and Daphne looked at the guard and narrowed their eyes.

"Who is that?" the Lord asked, stunned at how easily the man had taken down the beasts which he and his guards were struggling against.

"My Lord, this young man is a Warlock," the guard said, and everyone’s eyes widened in shock.

"What? A Warlock?!" the Lord exclaimed and then thought, It makes sense now why he is so powerful.

Everyone was shocked. The next moment, Victor turned into lightning and moved toward the next target at the speed of lightning, launching more black lightning serpents at it. The mosnters tired to attack him but Victor dodged easily due to his high speed stat and the speed of lightning.

The monsters that were slain by Victor did not even have a chance to scream before becoming corpses, and when everyone saw how effortlessly he was slaying these monsters, their eyes widened with admiration and awe. They were looking at Victor as if he was some kind deity who descended to save them.

"Who the hell is that single-man army?! He’s killing the monsters as though they are defenseless chickens!"

"He’s probably some expert NPC assisting with the situation!"

"Wait, isn’t this Frost Reaper?"

"What? The NPC who slaughtered the Crimson Lion and Shadowless Guild?"

The players instantly recognized Victor, as many had uploaded videos of the fight online, and he had become the most famous NPC within hours—not only for the items he sold but also for his power. But now, seeing him fight, it seemed he had gone easy on those two guilds.

Victor kept fighting while chugging mana recovery potions. After he was done, he turned into lightning and stopped in front of the crowd.
