After Victor went to the outskirts of the city, he brought out the Warlock skill books from his inventory, which dissolved into specks of light.

Victor sucked in a deep breath when he saw the insane damage and then frowned. "Oh, looks like this will fill the deficit of powerful attacks I had."

After finishing learning the skills, he waited patiently for his pursuers, whom he had sensed following him.

Turning around, he saw several players starting to surround him while he watched calmly.

"There’s no mistake about it. He looks the same as in the forum."

"Then if we kill that NPC, I guess we can get a lot of good drops, as he is a wealthy merchant?"

"I guess so. I saw players use the items they bought from Frost Eye and easily kill monsters which they had difficulty killing before."

Victor narrowed his gaze when he heard that.

Though he wasn’t afraid, he didn’t like it at all. After all, no one would like to be treated as a mob that drops items after being killed.

"But are you sure we can kill him? I mean, he killed the guild leader of the Crimson Lion Guild with such ease—haven’t you seen the video?"

"Idiot! Why worry about that? Though I have seen the video and will admit he is formidable, don’t forget not only our Shadowless Guild and Crimson Lion Guild have summoned all of their members, but we have invited other rogue players as well. I am sure we can overpower him."

Hearing the words Shadowless Guild, Victor looked at the player who had said those words. Looking at the lightly armored player, Victor murmured,

"If they are from the Shadowless Guild, then I guess Darius should also be here?"

Darius was an infamous name in the gaming community. He was the number one dark player who hunted both players and NPCs for resources, and there were rumors in the real world that he was tied to the mafia. After the era of Awakeners on Earth, he transformed the Shadowless Guild into the number one assassination organization in the real world.

Step... step...

Victor looked at the source of the footsteps and saw the players who were surrounding him open a path. Two handsome young men appeared before him.

They were Matthew, who was looking at him with hatred, and the other was Darius, the leader of the Shadowless Guild, who looked at him with greed.

Everyone stopped in front of Victor and the others. Looking at the calm NPC, Darius felt an inexplicable sense of uneasiness in his heart. That gaze felt as if Frost Eye was looking at them like insects.

"You are finally here." As Victor’s voice sounded, Darius felt even more uneasy. "I have been waiting for you for a while."

"You are quite brave. You actually dare to wait for us here. Hand over the items from the auction, and I can consider leaving your body intact," Matthew said with a sneer, thinking Victor was just acting brave.

When Victor heard Matthew’s words, the corners of his mouth rose slightly.

"An intact body? You... who got instantly defeated by me... I doubt you can leave a scratch on me even with your minions," Victor said, amused.

Listening to Victor’s mocking words, the young man sneered, "Heh, arrogant. You are just an NPC. I have also hired a few others."

Soon, a sharp wind sounded, and several helicopters appeared in the sky. After they descended, many NPCs wearing armor stepped out.

Victor immediately used his pupil technique, and surprise flashed in his eyes as he saw their details. "Hoh, peak Tier 0 mercenaries."

"Heh, how did a pauper like you, who wants free items, get money to hire a mercenary group?" Victor asked curiously, which enraged Matthew.

"Shut up! You’re the pauper! Your whole family is paupers!" Matthew said through clenched teeth.

"You all attack—" Matthew was about to order the mercenaries, but Darius interrupted him. "Wait."

"What’s wrong?" Matthew asked.

"If I am the one to kill him, will I get a better share of the spoils?" Darius asked, to which Matthew replied, "Yes."

"Good, then let me fight him first," Darius said as he walked arrogantly toward Victor, who watched in amusement. In Darius’s opinion, Victor was not that strong, as his danger level showed only "Medium," and Matthew had died due to a sneak attack. What Darius did not know was that Matthew, before leaving the auction, had suppressed his level so that others could see it, hence the lower danger level shown to NPCs.

"Oh, so you are the first one to come to die," Victor said nonchalantly.

"Heh, we will see who dies," Darius sneered at the NPC as he brought out a dagger and lunged at him at extremely high speed.

There is no way he could dodge this. After all, I have that equipment, Darius thought smugly. When he was hunting, he had encountered an unknown monster which he had killed with great difficulty, though it wiped out his entire guild in the fight.

Victor noticed his boots shining as small wings sprouted from them and used his pupil technique to see the details.

"I see," Victor mumbled and looked calm.

"Oh, interesting," Matthew’s eyes widened in surprise when he saw Darius’s sudden boost in speed and was pleased, eager to see Victor die.

Darius frowned when he felt like Victor could still track his movements but shook his head. ’How can a Tier 0 NPC possibly keep track of Tier 1 speed?’

But suddenly his pupils contracted when he saw a black shadow move past him.

’His movements... I can’t see them,’ he thought, but then a look of disbelief appeared on his face as darkness overtook his vision, and the last thing he saw were two notifications.

[Your level has been reset to 1]

"No way!"

"Guild Master, how did he die?"

"Shit, I knew it—I had a bad feeling!"

"Heavens, I didn’t even see the NPC move. It must be some kind of high-ranked NPC!"

"As expected, an NPC who can sell such rare items for experience would definitely not be weak!"

The members of the Shadowless Guild were shocked and then fell into despair seeing their Guild Master get killed so easily. They shuddered when they realized that after they logged out in the real world, he would vent his anger and frustration on them, which was nothing new.

"Lightning!" Everyone was shocked, especially the mercenaries, but before they could react, Victor raised his hand and pointed it toward Matthew and said, "Multi Purgatory Lightning Serpents."

As soon as those words left Victor’s mouth, his palm rumbled with black lightning, and then a large amount of black lightning spewed out from his palm, transforming into three 20-meter-long serpents that rushed toward Matthew.

"What—" Matthew could not react when suddenly three serpents made of black lightning bit him.

[You have died]

Everyone froze for a second when Victor simultaneously killed Darius and Matthew. The mercenaries, however, felt a chill run down their spines when they saw Victor looking at them.

"Damn, it’s a Warlock! Quickly, attack with everything you’ve got!"

The mercenaries did not dare go close to Victor and launched all sorts of long-range attacks, but to their despair, all attacks passed through Victor without causing any harm.

Victor raised his hand, and lightning serpents surged toward the mercenaries to their horror.

"No! Run!"

Looking at the appearance of the serpents, the faces of both NPCs and players turned pale.

Victor watched the serpents completely obliterate the NPCs and then turned to look at the players who were fleeing.

Victor would naturally not let them escape.

"Ah, no!"

"Damn it!"

"A devil! This NPC is a devil!"

"Frost Eye? More like Frost Reaper!"

The players wailed as Victor moved between them at extreme speed, using kicks and punches to reap their lives while simultaneously launching black serpent attacks at them.

That day, the legend of the White Reaper emerged among the players.
