Chapter 85: Revenge Taken
It had turned dark and the three of them were standing on top of the roof of a tall building.
They watched as cop cars filled the streets and helicopters flew above and all three had the same thought.
’ We fucked up.’ they naturally realised their mistake but there was no turning back now. " Lets swear not to tell others about this."
Marcus made the couple swear, he couldn’t handle the mocking of Suzie, that little brat was very rude.
However he was mostly afraid of Adrain thinking they were stupid, if only he knew that Adrain would’ve made the same blunder.
" Should we do what the boss assigned first? There’s still time to deal with those bastards but I have a feeling we won’t be leaving calmly."
Charlie suggested and the other two nodded, they split up, their bodies turned into blurs.
--------------------------
Somewhere in the city on a tall building, a muscular man with greying hair sat in an office on the top floor.
In front of him stood five people dressed in different attire, " Boss, you think this was done by some serial killer? Heart snatcher, that what I’ll call him."
One of those people spoke, he was a young man with spiked hair and earrings, he was dressed like a hooligan.
The old man raised his head and looked at him coldly, " This looks familiar." The old man answered.
He had received a report from Lagos about a new species of Fayera that always took the hearts of its victims.
A woman in a suit and glasses stood forward and gave him a tablet, it had the CCTV footage of the hotel.
" Strange, why would they expose themselves like this? Are you certain this was not their ploy?"
The old man asked and the woman nodded, " I can’t be certain but it’s unlikely, from the records, those three are from this city originally.
They suffered from one of the mayor’s antics and disappeared, if they’ve been turned, it would have been recent.
I don’t think they know much about us or they might be underestimating us." She replied.
" I need you five to find them for me, studying a new species would be quite beneficial to the organisation."
The five people bowed and left, those five were the only rank 2 Espera working for this branch of organisation.
The old man was the director, the only rank 3 Espera in the city and the pillar of this branch of the organisation.
Unfortunately unlike Lagos, his city did not have a level limit barrier and all type of monsters can come through.
--------------------------------
Somewhere else, a group of six appeared, they all looked different but they all had humanoid forms.
" Are you certain those three are related to it?" One of them asked in a feminine voice.
" No, however if they are, it would be best of we capture them, now stop asking questions and spread out, find them before the organisation finds us."
They spread through the city searching for their targets but both the organisation and the mysterious figures couldn’t find them.
-----------------------
Two days passed and the mayor’s birthday party arrived, security was tight around his mansion.
Yet nobody in his house noticed he had received guests he did not invite, the werewolves had used compulsion to get themselves inside.
Marcus took the position of a waiter, this allowed him to go to places the others couldn’t without suspicion.
Of course they can use compulsion but they had detected signs of two Espara in the house.
They didn’t trust their compulsion to work on Espara, they were not monsters like Adrain. All of the guests had arrived by 11 o’clock.
Yet the mayor did not arrive, the guests were confused and some of the guards went to check on him.
They found the mayor and his son dead in his office, their heads were cut off and nailed to the wall.
Yet the culprit was not there, " Lock the house down!" They shouted which terrified the guests.
Outside the house, a group of six people with different forms watched everything unfold.
However they did not notice a woman clad in a black cloak standing a few hundred metres away from the house.
The woman had a paw of a fox on her hands and she was chanting in a low breath, an invisible energy left the claw and went towards the house.
Inside the house, the five agents were also confused, they stood in front of the office but their faces couldn’t stop scowling.
That was because they could clearly sense the aura of the three perpetrators inside the room.
Not residue of the aura’s but their actual aura as if they were standing there but they were not there.
" This is strange." The woman with glasses whispered and the others agreed with her but the most shaken were the twins.
They had been standing outside this office this entire time but they saw nobody and all of the sudden, the mayor was dead.
They didn’t even know how to face the mayor’s wife and his two daughters, they decided to leave for now.
The perpetrators in question had left the house long ago. " Who do you think that woman was?" Charlie asked.
" Doesn’t matter, we need to leave quickly, we can’t deal with all of those monsters." Marcus answered.
They ran like wind until they arrived at an abandon church near the edge of the city, in front of the church was a truck.
" Get inside." Louis shouted and the people inside the church ran out and went inside the truck.
They all looked haggard with worn out clothes, there were 16 of them, more than Adrian asked for.
Charlie immediately started the truck and drove off, they left the city then started speeding.
It was nearly 12 pm, the chances of coming across wandering Gadra was much higher than during the day.
" That went better than I expected." Marcus commented but Louis just clicked her tongue.
" I wanted to torture those two bastards, killing them was too easy, we didn’t even have time get a confession out of them."
She sounded annoyed and Charlie just giggled, " Just be glad we even had our revenge, the organisation reacted much quicker than we expected.
Stationing a level 2 agent near his house was just a dirty move." He looked at his wife, while they complained, they both had smiles on their faces.
They drove through the bridge and finally left the city entirely.
Shortly after they left, the mysterious group appeared at the edge of the bridge but not a single one of them dared to take a step further.
Because in front of them stood a woman wearing a black cloak, on her shoulder there was a sleeping black cat.
They couldn’t see her face but her presence made their bones shake with fear.
