The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 439: Accident

"Got it, I’ll send someone over immediately!"

Chen Ping’s response was brief, ending the call after a single sentence.

Ling Feng put away his phone and looked around. Below the hillside was the area near the cave where Zhang Song had been hiding, surrounded by desolate mountains.

After pondering for a moment, he decided to return to the construction site; there was no need to check out the cave again.

After all, it had been thoroughly searched, and those people wouldn’t be foolish enough to still be stationed there.

Turning around to head back up the hil, he saw Chu Nan’s people already waiting there.

Seeing them, Ling Feng smiled and said, "You don’t need to worry about this side, just keep an eye on the scene. If you find anything, make sure it doesn’t get damaged by the excavators!"

"What about those two guys from before?"

"The safety bureau’s people will be here shortly, let them handle it!"

"Understood!"

After giving a couple of instructions, Ling Feng walked towards the SUV.

Before he got close, Li Fei’er jumped out of the car and ran over: "How did it go?"

"It’s fine, took care of it. Can you check my back for me, see if there’s a hole?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.

Li Fei’er was startled, quickly circled behind him, and then exclaimed, "There really is one, what caused this?"

"A gun!"

Ling Feng laughed, pulled her into the car, and said to Chu Nan, "Got a bit careless and they ambushed me. Luckily, I was wearing a bulletproof vest!"

"What?"

Chu Nan had thought nothing had happened, but hearing Ling Feng say this, he suddenly widened his eyes and stood up quickly.

Then, seeing the hole in Ling Feng’s clothes and the white fluffy waistcoat peeking out from inside, he asked in astonishment, "This, this is a bulletproof vest?"

"Yeah, I made it myself, didn’t expect it to work pretty well!" Ling Feng said with a smile.

"What material is this? It looks like animal fur?" Chu Nan asked as he reached behind Ling Feng and felt around.

Ling Feng felt awkward and said with a wry smile, "It is animal fur, could you not do that? What are you picking at?"

"What kind of animal has fur that can stop a bullet?" Chu Nan asked, not minding the teasing and continuing to inquire with a chuckle.

"Well..."

Ling Feng drew out the word, not intending to explain the origin of the material because that would be a never-ending story!

Seeing his reaction, Chu Nan couldn’t help but roll his eyes: "Come on, we’ve known each other for quite a while now, don’t you trust me?"

Ling Feng looked at him: "We haven’t known each other for that long, actually."

Chu Nan: "..."

Just as they exchanged a few words, a car horn sounded from outside, Du Song and others had arrived.

Ling Feng got out of the car and saw that only Du Song, He Bing, and two other staff members had come in a pickup truck, so he approached and said, "The bodies are in the back mountain, can this truck make it through?"

Du Song glanced at the slope: "No problem, this truck is modified, it has great off-road capabilities!"

"Then that’s good, no time to lose, let’s deal with the bodies first!"

Ling Feng nodded and got into the truck with them.

A few minutes later, the vehicle arrived at the back mountain, and before they even made it down the slope, Ling Feng was stunned to discover that the two corpses from earlier had vanished!

"Fuck!"

After exclaiming in shock, Ling Feng immediately got out of the car.

He hadn’t seen wrong—the two bodies were there just a moment ago, but now they had disappeared without a trace!

He turned to look around, and in the eerily quiet surroundings, with only the occasional mountain breeze blowing, he couldn’t spot a single soul. Ling Feng was utterly dumbfounded!

"Boss, what’s going on, are there other people around?"

"Seems like it," Ling Feng said with a wry smile, "Whoever did this was pretty slick. I was gone for only about half an hour, and these two were already taken away!"

Du Song was unperturbed: "That’s actually better, isn’t it? Saves us the trouble!"

Moving bodies was never a pleasant task. Now that there was no need to move them, it was of course for the best.

But Ling Feng’s brow was furrowed tightly. He had thought there wouldn’t be anyone in these desolate mountains, yet someone had managed to move the bodies in such a short time. He had underestimated his opponent!

After hesitating for a bit, he turned to Du Song and said, "You go back first with the cellphone, check the numbers inside. I’m going to have a look around in the mountains!"

"Boss, you’re going alone? Why don’t we accompany you?" Du Song and He Bing asked.

"No need, I’ll be fine on my own!"

Ling Feng shook his head, handed the cellphone to Du Song, and in a flash, he had vanished from the spot.

Du Song and He Bing looked at each other, realizing they couldn’t catch up even if they tried. They shook their heads in resignation, got into the pickup truck, and drove back to the other side of the mountain’s base.

Ling Feng had already entered the dense forest, feeling a bit of regret in his heart. If he had known he’d be searching here, he should have brought Wang Cai along!

His own sense of smell was certainly not as keen as Wang Cai’s.

Racing aimlessly at high speed along the mountain valley, Ling Feng circled around the barren mountains and even made a point of taking a look inside the cave he passed by. Just as he had expected, there was nobody inside.

Twenty minutes later, he returned to the top of the hill with a trace of disappointment.

"I’ve been careless, far too careless!"

Muttering to himself, Ling Feng started to descend the mountain.

By the time he got back to the SUV, Chu Nan was already aware of the situation and asked with a seemingly pleased expression, "How did it go? Faced a setback?"

"Yes, our opponent is quite something," Ling Feng said, shaking his head helplessly.

"Actually, you didn’t really need to chase them. We’ve both shown our hands now, and we both want what’s buried here. If we don’t go to them, they will show up on their own," Chu Nan said with a smile.

"That’s true, but I always feel like there’s something unfathomable about the other side, like there’s a knot in my heart that won’t untie until I figure out what their deal is!" Ling Feng said, frowning.

Chu Nan chuckled, "You’re still too young after all!"

"Grandpa Chu, then you should teach my uncle more!" Li Fei’er said from the side.

"You little rascal, always trying to curry favors for Ling Feng. What could I possibly teach him? He’s much more capable than me!" Chu Nan said with a laugh.

"But that’s not right. You have more experience than he does, and your experience is better than his, isn’t it?" Li Fei’er pouted.

"That’s true, but I’m afraid Ling Feng wouldn’t think much of my experiences," Chu Nan said with a laugh.

Ling Feng, not being a fool, knew what to say at this moment and smiled, "You’ve seen much and know a great deal, being the Clan Leader of the Chu Family. You surely know more than I do. If you don’t mind, I would like to learn a thing or two from you!"

"Oh?"

A sparkle flickered in Chu Nan’s eyes as he asked with a grin, "What do you mean, is this like becoming my disciple?"

"Well, it’s more like a verbal agreement? The conditions here aren’t exactly proper, it doesn’t seem formal enough!" Ling Feng said with a smile.

"In the world of martial artists, who needs such formalities? You just need to call me ’teacher’, and this old man will be very satisfied!" Chu Nan said with a laugh.
