Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

The silent crowd stared at me without a word, I could feel stares from even those not among my fellow candidates..

I couldn’t tell if it was because I was too handsome with the way the girls seemed startstruck and about to have heart attacks..

Too freaking tall, with the way the guys seemed petrified and shocked...

Or just too freaking awesome, this being just because....

Might’ve been all three...

Yet before I could properly bask in my awesomeness..

Screeeeeee!!!

Leo’s annoying screeching sounded once more, his descent much more controlled this time..

Controlled in the sense that he didn’t missile dive, not in the sense of subtlety..

He beat his massive wings so hard they blasted away some innocent bystanders, the selfish creature making a whole 30 meter wide space for itself..

He landed like the proud concoction that he was, folded in his majestic wings, threw me a dirty look before he laid down, going on to ignore everyone..

"We greet the instructor and supervisors" the attendant that had been waiting quietly finally went forward, his posture humble as he welcomed valen and the others..

"Has everyone arrived yet?" Valen’s trademark stone cold voice answered...

"Your group will be making it so" the attendant responded meekly...

"Good.. then we can get started immediately"..

"This.. my lord.." the attendant couldn’t help voicing out hesitantly...

"Hmm? What is it" Valen turned around, his piercing stare making the attendant tremble violently..

"His...his majesty, the emperor.. would..would like to invite you for a banquet before the tests begin" the man stuttered as he delivered the message..

Would you look at that..

Seems I was right to believe that this man was anything but a normal "instructor"..

First he was left to oversee such an event..

Okay, maybe all instructors received that as some task or something.

But then, the amount of respect and reverence he received from his fellow examiners wasn’t normal. Sure we could chalk that up to him being their superior during the tests, so they needed to be at their best behavior..

But now, the very emperor of the eastern domain, the true one in all of the eastern domain was personally extending an invitation to this man..

No matter how extraordinary an instructor’s status, it shouldn’t warrant such an offer..

At least I didn’t think it did..

"Tell the emperor I do not have the time for such distractions, maybe next time" Valen declined as politely as you’d expect from a rock..

Somehow I wasn’t surprised..

The man didn’t seem to be one to give a fuck about your status...

Just my type of person..

I smirked, I was starting to like this guy alot, not that bitch ass griffon though, I’ll be sure to get my payback...

"Alright everyone!" Valen’s voice resounded within the expansive area, he didn’t shout, yet his voice seemed to be carried to the ears of everyone there..

"Since everyone has arrived, we shall begin immediately, but first"

SNAP!!

He snapped his fingers and we were all teleported to an expansive hall..

I shook my head, I really was starting to hate teleporting..

Getting my bearings back, I surveyed the hall..

It was large..

Large enough to fit over ten thousand candidates..

Me and the my group were sitting at the very back of the hall, and in front of me sat a sea of heads..

The atmosphere within the hall was heavy, not just with tension but with power..

These numbers were not your average people, they were the cream of the crop from all over the eastern domain..

And right at the very front of this hall, I could sense some auras that made even me feel a little bit excited, and I took my time scouting out some potential competition, I spotted something that made me freeze..

"Is that...."

A head of icy blue hair that seemed to glitter like freshly fallen snow..

Even within the hall’s dim lighting, it’s glimmering luster couldn’t be hidden..

"It can’t be..." it really couldn’t be who I was thinking it was..

Because the head I was currently looking at was seated at exactly the front row, together with those who made my instincts tingle..

It couldn’t possibly be, because the person I was thinking about couldn’t have such an aura, not so fast...

"Welcome, everyone!!"

Valen seemed to have started saying something but I was no longer listening, my full attention focused on trying to decipher if what I was seeing and the person in my head truly were one and the same..

"Most if not all of you here already know who I am, nevertheless, introductions are a must before we go further.."

"I am Valen Wildeheart, an instructor from Aeternum Academy, and the Overseer of this year’s tests"..

The hall became rowdy, the candidates seating straighter.

No one wanted to leave a bad impression...

"You have, of your own volition decided to embark on this journey, seeking greatness and ultimate freedom, yet none of those things are truly free"

"Your background, your lineage, you status, none of these matter to me, none of it matter to the world, for we all pay the price regardless."

"And the price you pay, most often than not, is your life.."

"So, before we begin the final stages of these trials, I shall once again give you the opportunity for retreat..."

Silence, the hall just stared in absolute silence..

Nobody here was normal.

They were either extremely talented, born of noble blood, or both...

None were cowards, none were ignorant of the stakes within these trials..

Aeternum’s academy trials were notorious for their fatality rates, the earlier test at the supreme cities were a clear example..

Those weren’t merely numbers or statistics, they were lives lost, dreams crushed..

Failure more often than not, when trying out for Aeternum, meant death..

But they were ready, they were willing, for nothing great would ever come from cowering..

"Good!"

"Since you’ve made your choices, I shall dally no longer"....

Valen’s voice sounded like static in my ears, my focus on one thing and one thing only, that person and then, almost as if having felt my gaze, they turned around..

Golden eyes met Icy blue eyes..

Both widening in absolute shock..

Yet before I could even be properly shocked, valen’s words finally registered in my ears..

"The tests begin...NOW!"
