Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

The exclamation came out before I could stop it..

We were currently flying above the central plateau, where our final tests were to take place..

From my vantage point, I could see clearly a massive city with no end..

Yes. City. That was the only words to describe what I was currently seeing..

The central plateau looked to be even larger than bright sun city itself, and this was merely one of seven.

Granted, it was probably the largest of the seven,seeing that it housed not only the imperial citadel but the solarium apex itself, but the fact that just one plateau could rival the size of a first rate city just emphasized further the grandeur of an imperial city..

The shimmering dome surrounding the plateau, what I’d come to learn were called Aegis Shieds. Sounds familiar yes, that’s because they worked with the same principles as my <Aegis Bulwark> only this time, they used solar energies instead of earth...

An opening appeared within the dome as the galleon and Leo flew gently towards it.

The moment we passed through, the pressure hit me full on..

I know I’d said earlier that the pressure was the first thing anyone noticed, but I might’ve just understated it a bit, what I felt from high above and what I was currently feeling were worlds apart...

The pressure fell upon me like the weight of the world itself, I was no stranger to atmospheric weight, but this felt heavier than anything I’d ever experienced..

"Heh... old man.. is this another..one of your tests?" I groaned audibly, barely able to get my question out..

"If you can’t even withstand the pressure of the environment, then you have no business being here" his indifferent voice sounded from behind me..

His composure unruffled..

"Hehehe... you seem to forget just who the hell I am old man" I smiled ravenously..

I didn’t use Solar Empowerment, I had no doubt those who lorded over this place, the Calder imperial family, would notice the strange events..

So it felt foolish using their signature ability on their home turf.

No. I wasn’t afraid of consequences, with valen here, I doubt they’d be able to make a move on any of the candidates..

My reasoning was simple, if I can avoid any more annoyances, then why not? Besides, I didn’t need Solar Empowerment..

I had multiple ways of offsetting the pressure.

But even those were meaningless when..

Slowly, steadily, my back that was hunched rose back up and within moments I was back straight on the griffon’s beak...

I took in a deep breath, the scorching air rushing into my lungs, but this time it didn’t burn, it instead circulated through my body, my weariness from earlier fading away...

"Heh..takes a lot more than just a heavy atmosphere to put me down" I couldn’t help throwing a smug look at the old man that tried to pull a fast one on me...

The Solar Galleon descended swiftly, arriving at an expansive field, from up above, I could spot various other massive vessels either still arriving or having arrived already, we seemed to be part of the late arrivals...

The galleon didn’t land as one would expect, instead, the beam that had teleported the candidates onboard three days ago appeared once more, it’s brilliant radiance shining softly before disappearing just as quickly, In its wake, 999 candidates stood together with the supervisors from Helios city..

Even from above I could see the wonder and awe on the faces of over 50% of the candidates there..

Those who, like myself had probably never been out of their cities before..

"Humph.. country bumpkins"

"I’d expect nothing else from classless commoners.."

Trust human nature to always want to stand above others, the contemptuous voices of those who’d been to the imperial city before resounded, clear for all to hear...

The faces of those who had been awed earlier turning awkward in embarrassment...

Yet before those snotty bastards could be satisfied with themselves...

Screeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Leo nosedived like a flipping missile, his downward acceleration causing a tearing sound to resonate around the area, drawing the attention of not just our fellows but of those that had arrived as well..

"What’s that..."

"Is someone daring enough to attack the Imperial Citadel?"

The crowd was shocked, they didn’t know just what it was that was coming, but they could feel the frightening speed with which it was descending..

What about me you ask?

"Wooooooohhoooooooooo!!!!!!"

I was having the time of my life..

The sharp winds were neutralized by he sword field around me, so I could enjoy the thrill perfectly....

At least I did till we almost on the ground..

Once we were 10 meters from crash landing, Leo stopped abruptly, the suddenness of the motion throwing me clean off his head...

"BASSSSTAAAAARRRRRDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!"...

My outraged cry followed soon after..

I had not an ounce of doubt within me..

That bastard chicken had done this on purpose, we were too close to the ground, the suddenness of the move made it impossible for me to prepare, and the speed with which I was flung made my contact with the floor an almost forgone conclusion..

That was probably what that combo meal thought, wasn’t it?

A smirk curled up my lips..

They seem to always forget.

But I’ll be happy to remind them however many times it takes to hammer that fact into their heads..

In my presence, the atmosphere could only ever bow....

I waited until I was only a few feet from an embarrassing moment, and then..

Once again, coming to my rescue and quickly becoming my favorite ability...

"Atmospheric Erasure"

My accelerated and inevitable fall was stopped instantly..

For a brief moment, it felt like I had been paused within the air itself..

I righted myself and then..

Step....

I landed softly, not an ounce of dust being risen..

The silence that fell upon the surroundings was like music to my ears..

I looked up and caught site of the frozen smirk on the dumb creature’s face..

"Heh..." I laughed..

"Ladies and gentlemen, the main character has finally arrived"..

What’s an epic entrance without an equally epic introduction...
