Chapter 321 - Shadow Element?
SCREEECH!
The scorpion let out an enraged cry.
The scales across its head had dented slightly from Owen’s sheer strength.
But it didn’t have time to stay angry, several loud rumbles ringing out above it.
RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
Everyone glanced up, finding Theo high in the sky on top of Feng.
Above him, dark clouds had gathered, blocking out the light from the natural mana crystals.
Golden lightning flickered within them, rapidly gathering directly above the scorpion.
For the first time since the battle started, the creature seemed to sense a genuine threat.
SCREEECH!
Deep purple poison mana erupted around its body.
The remaining roots around its legs began melting instantly.
BOOM!
At the same time, the ice around its pincer shattered apart.
Even the metal restraining its tail began sizzling as corrosive poison spread across it.
’’Everyone!’’ Theo’s voice rang out loudly. ’’Get back!’’
None of them dared to hesitate.
The lightning inside the clouds instantly began gathering up into several large spheres.
WHOOSH!
In an instant, several huge beams shot down from the sky.
They rapidly started swirling around each other before merging into a single enormous beam.
But just before it reached the scorpion, shadows began rippling underneath its body.
WHOOSH!
Its massive body sank directly into its own shadow.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The lightning beam slammed into the sand only a moment later.
A several-dozen-yard-deep crater filled with glass and molten sand formed.
But the scorpion was nowhere to be seen.
’’Shadow element?!’’
Theo’s eyes widened immediately.
That was the last element he’d expected the scorpion to have.
’’Feng!’’ he instantly called out.
’’Still can’t sense mana,’’ it replied. ’’But I’ll tell you once it reappears.’’
Wind mana began spreading through the air immediately.
Meanwhile, the others quickly reacted.
Iris and Lyra took to the skies, while Jim shone a bright light above him and his stag.
Only Owen stood alone, his massive flaming body slowly turning as he searched the surrounding sand.
’’Where the fuck did it go?’’ he cursed in annoyance.
Before anyone could answer, the shadow beneath Owen’s feet suddenly moved.
His eyes instantly narrowed.
’’Oh...’’ he muttered slowly. ’’Fuck me.’’
Theo’s expression darkened at the same time.
He could only watch as two large pincers burst from the shadows and clamped around Owen’s legs.
CRACK! CRACK!
Both of Owen’s rock legs instantly shattered beneath the poison and sheer pressure.
Owen fell forward uncontrollably.
At the same time his three-story-tall body slammed into the sand, the scorpion emerged directly behind him.
SCREECH!
Several shadowy tails appeared beside its real one.
In an instant, they all shot straight for his chest.
ROARRR!
Before any of them could reach Owen, a light green blur shot through the air.
Massive green flames burst from its mouth, swallowing all the tails at once.
At the same time, the green blur shot through the flames.
Once again, the Bone Dragon bit down on the real tail, taking it back with it thanks to its speed.
’’Fuck yeah!’’ Owen shouted, his rock legs already reforming.
At the same time, Theo’s entire body lit up in a yellow light.
Without hesitation, he jumped off Feng.
As he fell, the umbrella disappeared from his hands, only to be replaced by his lightning spear moments later.
CRACKLE! CRACKLE!
Dense lightning began bouncing between each of his spearheads.
Sensing the danger, the scorpion reacted instantly.
Shadows immediately began rippling beneath its body.
A quarter of its body disappeared.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Two large beams of light shot from one of the nearby dunes.
They slammed into the shadows underneath its body, canceling the spell instantly.
SCREEECH!
The scorpion’s body was forced back out.
Theo glanced aside, finding Isabelle and Lucienne with Light mana gathered around their hands.
’Perfect!’
CRACKLE!
More lightning began gathering inside his spear.
The scorpion immediately tried again now that the light had faded.
’Too late!’
BOOOOM!!!
His lightning spear pierced straight into its back.
SCREEECH!
Lightning crackled around the scorpion’s body.
The scales surrounding the spearhead disintegrated instantly, leaving a large hole in its back.
But before Theo could push the spear any deeper, the rest of the scorpion disappeared into the shadows.
WHOOSH!
Theo landed heavily in the sand, immediately glancing around.
’Damn it,’ he thought, his expression dark. ’I could’ve burned its nerves if I’d been inside a bit longer...’
SCREEECH!
Only a few seconds later, the scorpion reappeared nearly two hundred yards away from them.
A thick, almost ocean-like wave of poison began forming above it instantly.
CRACKLE!
Theo didn’t hesitate.
He shot forward, unwilling to let it finish whatever it was working on.
At the same time, Jim stared at the rapidly increasing ocean of poison mana.
His face slowly began to pale.
Everything in his head told him to stay as far away from that thing as possible.
Instead, he suddenly slapped the Aurora Stag beneath him.
’’GO!’’
As the stag shot forward, many thoughts ran through his mind.
’What the fuck am I doing?’ he thought. ’This is fucking insane!’
Even so, he continued chasing after Theo.
SCREEECH!
The massive ocean of poison came crashing down towards them.
’’Feng!’’
WHOOSH!
His unicorn optimized its height, quickly picking him up.
At the same time, a crystal path appeared underneath Jim’s stag.
It sped through the sky, just barely managing to circle around the ocean of poison.
’’Go on, Theo!’’ Jim suddenly shouted. ’’I’ll make sure it doesn’t run!’’
Theo glanced behind in surprise for a second.
Then he nodded.
’’Isabelle! Lucienne!’’ Jim continued. ’’Get your Light ready!’’
Both women immediately looked towards him.
Meanwhile, dark clouds had gathered once more above the scorpion.
This time, however, Theo poured in over a fourth of his mana.
’Come on,’ he thought. ’Just a bit more.’
Finally, the lightning gathered up into a single huge sphere.
Theo struggled to keep it under control, having never poured so much mana into a single attack before.
’’I’m ready!’’ he shouted.
Jim swallowed hard and raised both hands.
Several huge white ice crystals began forming throughout the sky.
They were molded into hexagon-like shapes, each side as smooth as possible.
’’Fire now!’’ he shouted.
