Chapter 322 - Sensing Fortune?
Isabelle, Lucienne and Theo reacted simultaneously.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Two bright beams shot through the air.
At the same time, a colossal pillar of golden lightning crashed down from the sky.
SCREEECH!
The scorpion reacted instantly.
Shadows rippled underneath its massive body.
Just as it began sinking into them, the two Light beams struck Jim’s largest ice crystal.
ZZZZZ!
The light instantly split apart.
Several beams shot out, heading straight for the other surrounding ice crystals.
ZZZ! ZZZ! ZZZ!
The beams fractured once more upon impact, bouncing back towards the crystals underneath the scorpion.
Within a second, brilliant white light flooded the desert from countless different directions.
Every shadow surrounding the scorpion’s body completely vanished.
WHOOSH!
Its half-submerged body was violently forced back out.
SCREEEEECH!
The scorpion let out an angry cry as it raised its head.
Its eyes slowly filled with a golden color, the colossal lightning pillar filling its vision completely.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The lightning pillar crashed into its back.
It disintegrated its hard scales instantly.
THUD!
The scorpion’s entire body slammed into the ground from the sheer pressure.
Golden lightning tore through the exposed flesh underneath its scales, rapidly shooting through its massive body.
BOOOOM!!!
It burst straight through the scorpion’s underside, leaving a massive hole running completely through its body.
The scorpion’s legs buckled instantly.
THUD!
Its massive body collapsed onto a huge crater of molten glass.
As the molten glass began fusing to its charred skin, a weak cry escaped its mouth.
Then, it stopped moving entirely.
High above, Theo continued staring down at it.
’Feng?’ he asked internally.
’’It’s dead,’’ the unicorn replied.
A deep breath left Theo’s mouth as he nodded once.
His skin began turning normal, having canceled his Lightning God’s Body spell.
’’Good,’’ he finally said. ’’Let’s go down to the others now.’’
Feng nodded once.
It tilted its wings and slowly began gliding down.
As they approached the ground, Theo’s gaze swept across the battlefield.
Large sections of the desert had completely changed, with several pits of molten glass and acidic poison littering the place.
’That was a mess,’ he thought.
Had it not been for their contracted pets, they wouldn’t have been able to do this nearly as easily.
’But at least we managed to beat such a strong creature now.’
That was already an incredible feat by itself.
Especially when considering that only he and Isabelle were Gold Cores.
WHOOSH!
Feng finally landed beside the others.
Theo jumped off its back and immediately heard a loud laugh.
’’HAHAHA!’’
Jim stood on top of his Aurora Stag, both hands raised triumphantly.
’’Did you see that?!’’ he shouted. ’’That was all me!’’
Theo couldn’t help but smile.
’’Good job,’’ he replied, giving a thumbs-up. ’’I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.’’
Jim’s expression instantly grew brighter.
’’It wasn’t a problem at all,’’ he said, patting himself on the chest. ’’In fact, I can do this ten more times if we have to!’’
Owen, having just approached after canceling his rock form, let out a loud scoff.
’’You were trembling like a leaf the entire time.’’
Jim’s smile froze for a moment.
He instantly turned towards him with narrowed eyes.
’’How would you know that?’’ he asked loudly. ’’You weren’t even close to the battle!’’
Owen’s expression darkened slightly.
’’I know because I know you,’’ he replied instantly.
Before he could say another word, Jim raised both his middle fingers.
’’Fuck off.’’
Owen immediately stuck his tongue out.
’’Whatever,’’ he muttered. ’’Had that damn thing not broken my rock legs, it would’ve been different.’’
Chuckling lightly, Theo shook his head.
’’Alright, that’s enough now,’’ he said. ’’Everyone, gather up.’’
’’We need to see how we go from here.’’
The others quickly began making their way over.
Before long, everyone stood around in a circle, their summoned beasts standing behind them.
For a moment, it remained completely silent.
Though the fight had momentarily taken their minds off it, the fact they’d been randomly teleported was still present.
Theo glanced at everyone for a moment.
’’First off, is anyone injured?’’ he asked.
Each of them shook their heads.
’’Good.’’
Theo let out a quiet breath before glancing around.
’’From what I know, we’ve landed in a large scorpion breeding ground,’’ he continued. ’’So we really need to talk about where we’re going now.’’
Lucienne was the first to nod.
’’We should recover our mana first,’’ she said. ’’We’ve been randomly teleported once. What’s to stop it from happening again?’’
Theo’s expression slowly turned more serious.
He hadn’t thought about that in particular.
’’You’re completely right,’’ he replied, nodding once.
Lucienne’s eyes lit up.
’’Also,’’ she continued gleefully. ’’There are also the others.’’
’’I’m sure we won’t be the only ones who’ve been teleported randomly. Some of them might even be in the chamber with us.’’
Theo nodded once more.
With how enormous this chamber was, that was entirely possible.
’’Then we move a bit away from the battlefield to recover,’’ he decided. ’’After that, we can start figuring out where to go exactly.’’
Before anyone could respond, Feng suddenly raised its head.
Its gaze shifted far into the horizon as its eyes narrowed slightly.
’’Contractor,’’ its voice rang out inside Theo’s mind. ’’I sense something.’’
Theo’s head snapped towards it instantly.
’What?’ he asked, brows furrowing.
’’The winds of fortune wish to lead us somewhere,’’ it continued, taking a step forward. ’’A good opportunity has appeared for you.’’
Theo’s expression changed instantly.
This wasn’t the first time he’d heard Feng talking about Fortune.
’Where?’ he asked immediately.
Feng continued staring towards the distant dunes.
’’Not far,’’ it replied. ’’Perhaps a few minutes from here.’’
Theo glanced in the direction it was looking.
Nothing unusual stood out to him.
Still, he had absolutely no reason to doubt a Wind Kirin’s Fortune Sense.
’Alright.’
He turned back towards everyone else with a small smile.
’’Now that we’ve settled this,’’ he said, pointing into the distance. ’’Let’s get moving.’’
’’Lest we attract the attention of more creatures or other groups.’’
The others nodded right away, completely in the dark about what Feng had said.
