Chapter 63: The Ice Queen: A One Sided Spar [Bonus - ]
Renelle calmly looked at the opponent opposite her with only one thought in her head,
’Let’s impress my Butler, shall we?’
Though she already knew that it was unnecessary, after all, the obsessed idiot would be impressed no matter what she did.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice that suddenly appeared in her head.
[Good luck, my lady.]
"Huh?" She let out in surprise before turning towards her butler who had a small smile on his face, confirming that it wasn’t just her imagination,
Her butler had somehow spoken directly into her mind, but before she could figure out how he did it, a large shadow suddenly covered her as something wrapped around her, completely cocooning her.
Turns out, their battle had already started and the girl with glasses had made the first move.
Where Renelle previous stood was now a large viny flower that had completely sealed her within, with no escape.
"I apologize for catching you off guard, Lady Renelle, " the girl said as she slowly approached the flower, "but this is as easy as I can go on an E-rank, so I suggest you yield."
E-rank?
Ah that’s right, most of the students recalled that she had spent most of her time last year chasing the prince.
But if that was the case, how was she still in Class One?
Lucian let out a sigh as he stood by Noelle who seemed a bit worried.
Adrian, on the other hand, had no change in his express as he looked at the flower, almost as if he knew something that they didn’t.
Which he did.
Tess was about to end the match only to stop when a change happened in the arena.
"I appreciate the offer," a cold voice came from within the flower as ice started coating it, "but I should be able to handle myself."
CRACK!
A loud crack was heard as the flower and all it vines that were now completely coated in ice, shattered completely, revealing an unharmed Renelle within.
"Shall we continue?" She asked as he stepped away from the icy plants that suddenly disintegrated.
"I see," the girl in glasses said, "then I apologize for underestimating you."
With that, the ground beneath them started rumbling as thorny vines suddenly ripped out of the ground and without hesitation, slammed towards Renelle.
Renelle looked at the approaching vines without a change in her expression as she lifted her palm slightly and sent multiple ice shards towards them.
Compared to the vines, the ice shards were a lot smaller, so none expected them to do anything to or even slow the vines down.
But they were all surprised when the vines suddenly slowed down before becoming frozen stiff, turning to shards of ice.
Before they could reach Renelle, the vines shattered into smaller flakes of ice, harmlessly falling around her.
The girl with the glasses frowned, as far as she knew, Renelle was supposed to be an E-rank but the ease at which she was cancelling out her attacks told otherwise.
"It seems I have to update my info on her," she muttered under her breath only to notice that it was now... snowing?
Probably a side effect of all the frozen vines shattering around them.
"I guess I’ll just have to end this quickly," the girl with glasses muttered as new vines rose from the ground.
But these ones, instead of thorns, had small buds of flowers on them. The moment they fully surfaced, the flowers suddenly bloomed releasing a green most from within.
The mist would’ve caught anyone else off guard, but Renelle had already experienced it once before.
She knew exactly what that was.
"A sleeping gas," she muttered, in her previous life, she had seen her use this quite a few times, and she knew exactly what the effects were.
And fortunately, she had already prepared a counter.
"Freeze," Renelle ordered and the snow that was slowly falling suddenly picked up speed, rapidly wrapping around both the vines and released gas, encasing them in solid ice.
The eyes of the girl in glasses widened as she looked at her vines and their released gas perfectly encased in solid ice.
She was sure that this would work, and yet, it very clearly hadn’t.
"Then I guess I should stop holding back," she finally said with a sigh.
Her intention was to end this as quickly as possible, but that wasn’t working right now.
The ground beneath her feet suddenly ruptured as a massive cluster of vines burst forth, far larger and thicker than the previous ones.
These ones wrapped together, forming something akin to a towering serpent made entirely of vines and thorns.
She stood above it as she looked at Renelle.
Gas wouldn’t work, bindings wouldn’t work.
So she changed approach, she would be using raw force...which truly wasn’t her style, but she had no other choice.
ROAR!!
The vine serpent let out a roar as it quickly slithered towards their opponent, when it was close enough, it slammed its thorny tail at Renelle.
But just before it could reach her, a large ice spike rose from the ground and pierced straight through the tail before it started spreading throughout the serpent, quickly encasing it in ice.
The girl in glasses quickly hopped off the serpent, worried that she might also be frozen.
But just as she landed, an ice dagger was placed on her neck, and holding it was Renelle whose eyes seemed like they would stab her if she didn’t yield.
So she did.
"I give up."
Instead of an answer, Renelle just dismissed all the ice around as she walked off the combat training floor, ignoring the stunned gazes of all the other students and walking directly towards her butler.
Tess had a grin on her face as she announced the results, "winner, Renelle."
The Prince, Lucian, looked at Renelle with a surprised expression, as far as he knew she was only an E-rank.
So when had she suddenly become this strong?
"It seems you’ve changed, Renelle."
