Chapter 62: Light Vs ??? [Bonus - ]
The Prince calmly stood across another student, the one that looked perpetually bored.
He had both his hands in his pocket as he looked at Lucian, not the least bit bothered about the fact that he was about to face a prodigy.
Adrian calmly looked at the two, they were best of friends in the future and this spar was the trigger.
Was he interested in disrupting this event? Not in the least bit.
Neither he nor his lady stood to gain anything from it, so he’d just let it happen as intended.
"Begin," Tess instructed.
Unlike Darius, neither of the two moved, preferring to observe the other.
The Prince frowned when he noticed that there were no openings in the bored kid’s form, even though he seemed relaxed.
With a sigh, he lifted his hand and his mana immediately started flowing.
"I-isn’t that overkill?" a student said as he watched the prince’s attack form.
Even Tess’s interest seemed to have been piqued as a smile appeared on his face when he saw what the prince did.
"I apologize," Lucian spoke up as he looked at his opponent, "but this is the only way I can ensure this ends fast enough."
Above him were multiple golden swords made from hard light, all aimed towards the bored student.
But instead of panic, the bored student let out a sigh as his hands moved out of his pocket and he calmly waited for the attack.
"Come at me," he calmly.
The Prince didn’t hesitate, the moment his opponent showed no intention of giving up, he launched the swords forward.
They moved faster than the eyes could track, aiming directly for the bored student and the next second.
BOOM!
A cloud of dust was kicked up as an almost endless amount of sword landed in the position where the bored student stood.
The other students had their eyes widened as they looked at Tess, waiting for her to put an end to the spar, but the smile on her face showed she had no intention to.
The Prince suddenly dismissed the remaining swords, letting the dust cloud clear up.
The dust cloud dispersed, causing Lucian’s eyes to widen in surprise.
Standing there without even a single hair out of place was the bored kid, the only change was in his expression as he now had a small smile.
"That tickled," he muttered in a tone that seemed like he was taunting the prince.
Lucian’s surprise turned into a frown as he looked around the student, there were craters around him created by his light swords but the spot where the stood was completely unharmed.
Which meant he hadn’t dodged, instead, he was using something to block the attacks, but what?
What element was strong enough to stop his light attacks with little to no effort, or at least the student made it seem as if he expended no effort at all.
"What’s your spirit’s element?" The prince asked with narrowed eyes.
"Telling you now wouldn’t be a smart move would it?" The student responded with a smile, "how about you find out yourself?"
"Alright," Lucian said as a layer of golden glow enveloped him, and the next second,
BOOM!
A large crater was left behind as he suddenly disappeared or rather, he moved faster than most eyes could follow.
He closed the distance in an instant, his hand coated in golden mana as he aimed a direct strike at the student’s chest.
BOOM!
A shockwave was sent in every direction, fortunately, the students outside remained unaffected thanks to the barrier surrounding the two.
Lucian frowned as he slowly pulled his fist back and looked forward, his attack had landed on something, but it obviously wasn’t on the opponent before him.
It felt like he had hit some sort of barrier.
"Air," the bored student suddenly spoke up.
"Huh?"
BANG!
Before the Prince could fully understand what he meant, a force suddenly slammed into him, launching him backwards.
"But unlike normal wind spirits," the bored student continued, "mine also allows me to control the air pressure and density, which allows me to harden it enough to stop your attacks."
In short, he could basically manipulate the molecules of air however he wanted.
"Also," the student put his hands in his pocket again, "if this was an actual battle, an air wall would’ve been enough to turn you to paste when you dashed towards me earlier."
His tone didn’t make it seem as if he was only lightly stating that.
It seemed he truly did consider that option, and only discarded it because this was a simple spar.
"I see," Lucian said with a nod as he stood back up, "then I suppose I should be glad that this is only just a spar."
Tess, on the other hand, looked like she was enjoying herself far too much.
"Less talking," she called out lazily, "more trying to kill each other."
Lucian exhaled as his body started glowing again, but it seemed as if he was suppressing his mana.
The next second, he was gone completely only to reappear in front of the bored student again with his fist coated in golden mana again.
"You already tried—" before the student could complete his words,
BOOM!
Lucian’s fist slammed into the air barrier that had formed, but unlike before, a visible crack appeared on the invisible barrier.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Not letting up, he followed up with barrage of strikes, each one faster than the last, and each one forcing the air to collapse and reform repeatedly.
The bored student clicked his tongue, " you’re being annoying."
He sent a blast of wind towards the prince, but to his surprise, his opponent anticipated that and disappeared, reappearing in his blind spot.
BANG!
This attack forced the bored student to slide backwards.
"I guess you can’t keep up your barrier at all times," Lucian said with a smile, "then I’ll just have to overwhelm you."
"Tch," the bored student let out, but the very obvious smile on his face told that he definitely wasn’t annoyed.
BOOM!
The Prince disappeared again, but when he reappeared this time, there were multiple him.
Two of which were obvious made from light due to their golden translucent forms, each taking appearing at a different side of their opponent.
Lucian struck from three different angles at once and the next second, the compressed air there shattered, destabilizing the entire pressure field for a split second.
That was all he needed.
BOOM!
Without waiting, he stepped closer to his opponent with a glowing fist again but it was met by a wind attack launching the two backwards.
"You’re persistent," the bored student said before adding, "how about we end this?"
"I agree," the Prince nodded with a smile as he created multiple weapons above the air again.
His opponent responded by taking his hands out his pocket and creating multiple layers of barriers before him.
"Go!" The Prince said as he extended his hand forward and all the light weapons immediately headed for his opponent.
BOOM!!!
When the attacks landed, the entire combat training room shook and within the barrier, so much smoke and dust had built up that no one could see the results of the attack.
Slowly the dust cleared up, making out two silhouettes within, both standing.
When it fully cleared up, the students way watched as the bored student had his hand up in surrender as a golden sword rested close to his neck.
"I give up," he said with a sigh before the sword disintegrated and the prince finally put his hand down.
He then walked towards the student and extended his hand for a shake, "Lucian."
The bored student looked at his hand for a while before sighing and shaking it, "Caius Morcant."
"I see," Lucian nodded, "I’ll remember it."
"Alright then," Tess’s voice suddenly interrupted as she turned towards Renelle and then the girl with glasses, "you two are up next."
Without saying anything, Renelle walked forward, calmly passing the prince and standing on the platform that had quickly fixed itself again thanks to the magic tools.
The girl with glasses stood opposite her as they both waited.
"Begin!"
