How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 637 : I Miss You So Much

“Xiao Ya, why have you been so down since you came back from school?”

Hearing her mother’s question, Su Ya, who was sitting on the sofa watching TV, forced a faint smile and replied, “I’m not down. It’s just that this drama is a bit emotional.”

Su Ya’s mother sighed softly, shaking her head in resignation. Having lived with her daughter for so many years, how could she not notice? Ever since Su Ya returned home, she’d been spacing out frequently. Once, she even saw Su Ya tearing up while watching a comedy anime!

“Xiao Ya, be honest with me. Are you dating someone at school?”

“Huh?! Dating? Of course not!” Su Ya quickly denied it, though her eyes unconsciously avoided her mother’s gaze.

Her reaction only confirmed her mother’s suspicions—her daughter was indeed in a relationship, and from the looks of it, it wasn’t going well.

After a moment’s hesitation, Su Ya’s mother gently said, “You know, Xiao Ya, it’s okay to tell me if you’re seeing someone. Your dad and I won’t make a fuss about it…”

“I already said I’m not,” Su Ya replied, letting out an exasperated sigh. “I’m going for a walk.”

After changing clothes and putting on her shoes, Su Ya stepped out into a world blanketed in white. Yesterday’s snowfall had made the already low temperatures even colder. Hugging her coat tightly around herself, she walked aimlessly through the streets of the city she had known her whole life.

At some point, she found herself standing in front of her old high school. The gates were locked, the school closed for the holidays. As she stared at the familiar building, she wondered why she had chosen to attend S University. If she hadn’t gone there, she probably wouldn’t have met Ling Ning.

At the thought of Ling Ning, her gaze darkened.

“Su Ya?”

A familiar yet unfamiliar voice called out from behind her.

Xie Zeyu hesitated, unsure if the girl in front of him was indeed Su Ya. He had only gone out for a walk when he spotted someone who looked like her. But since her back was to him, he couldn’t be certain.

“Hmm?”

Su Ya turned around, and Xie Zeyu smiled gently, though he seemed to hold back something unsaid. “What are you doing here?”

“Just out for a walk.”

“Is that so? How about grabbing something to drink? My treat.”

It was the same invitation he’d often extended to Su Ya during high school.

“Thanks, but I’m heading back soon. Maybe next time.”

With a polite smile, Su Ya turned and walked away.

Watching her retreating figure, Xie Zeyu let out a bitter chuckle. He realized he never stood a chance—not even now, after she and Ling Ning had separated.

“I’m home.”

The warmth of the heater greeted Su Ya as she stepped inside, relaxing her tense features.

Before she could enter the living room, she heard her parents chatting with someone. Curious, she assumed it must be a visiting relative.

Changing her shoes, she walked into the living room—only to be stunned by the sight of a person she knew all too well, sitting comfortably and laughing with her parents.

Sensing her presence, Ling Ning turned with a radiant smile. “Long time no see, Xiao Ya~”

“You… why are you here?!”

Su Ya’s shock was palpable. She hadn’t expected to see Ling Ning, not here of all places.

Before she could process what was happening, her mother lightly smacked her on the head. “What kind of reaction is that? Your friend traveled all this way to see you, and this is how you greet her?”

“I…”

“Auntie, it’s fine,” Ling Ning interjected with a smile. “Su Ya and I are close friends. We tease each other a lot. Besides, I didn’t tell her I was coming—I wanted it to be a surprise.”

“Oh, it’s definitely a surprise,” Su Ya muttered, raising an eyebrow. She couldn’t fathom how Ling Ning had found her house.

“I’ll just take Ling Ning to my room to chat for a bit. We’ll be back soon.”

Not waiting for her parents’ response, Su Ya dragged Ling Ning out of the room. Ling Ye, watching the scene unfold, stood frozen in place. She wanted to follow but was trapped in Su Ya’s mother’s embrace.

Why did things turn out like this?!

Once inside Su Ya’s room, Ling Ning sat casually on the bed, her eyes scanning the space. It looked just like it had in her previous life.

“Why are you here?” Su Ya asked, her voice tinged with complex emotions.

“Because I missed you, Xiao Ya~” Ling Ning replied, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Su Ya pressed her lips together. Why could Ling Ning say such things so casually? Why did she always have to be like this?

Sighing deeply, Su Ya asked, “How did you even find my house?”

“You told me once, remember? Otherwise, it would’ve been a hassle to track down.”

After a moment’s thought, Su Ya realized she had indeed mentioned it before. She had unknowingly dug her own grave.

Before she could say anything else, Ling Ning stood up and approached her.

Instinctively, Su Ya stepped back, only to find herself pressed against the wall. Ling Ning was so close now. Su Ya raised her hands to push her away, but her gaze fell on the scar on Ling Ning’s right hand, stopping her.

A flash of pain crossed Su Ya’s eyes.

Taking advantage of Su Ya’s hesitation, Ling Ning pulled her into a warm embrace.

Feeling the familiar warmth, Ling Ning’s lips curved into a faint smile.

Su Ya thought Ling Ning might kiss her and instinctively closed her eyes. But the anticipated sensation never came. Instead, she heard Ling Ning whisper softly in her ear:

“I miss you so much.”
