Chapter 6 : Chapter 6
Chapter 6 - Hanging Oneself Like the God of Longevity—Tired of Living, Are We?
After a busy day, his soul and body felt as though they had undergone a double "torture." Now that things had finally settled down, hunger flooded his heart like a tide.
He simply took out his phone, opened a delivery platform, and operated it like a pro, ordering a large amount of food and drinks.
Lin Zhi lay on the sofa as if a weight had been lifted, closing his eyes tightly and waiting for the delivery rider to arrive.
Just as Lin Zhi was dozing off and about to enter the land of dreams, a "Ding-dong" sound jerked his drowsy consciousness back.
Yang Guo had already stood up and walked to the door. He steadily took the large and small bags of delivery boxes and, after saying thanks, closed the door with a BANG.
As the boxes on the table were opened one by one, various fries, colas, burgers, and fried chicken came into view.
Without a word, Yang Guo grabbed a burger in one hand and a cola in the other, eating in large gulps like a starving tiger, his face full of satisfaction.
Lin Zhi was not to be outdone. He finished a cup of iced cola in one breath and then began to feast heartily.
To think an immortal would have a stomach like a bird—why does it feel like I can eat even more than before?
Lin Zhi’s mouth was stuffed full of food as he pondered this.
The food on the table was quickly devoured by the two of them. Yang Guo was stuffed, exposing his belly with one foot on the ground and the other resting high on the sofa, looking quite comfortable.
Lin Zhi looked at the table, seeing only empty packaging. He smacked his lips, feeling like he hadn't had enough. He couldn't help but marvel, "As expected of an immortal lady, this appetite is truly beyond ordinary!"
He gathered the trash from the table and took it to the door, then stepped outside.
"Where are you going?"
Fatso’s voice came from inside. "I’m not full. I’m going downstairs to buy some more stuff," Lin Zhi said before closing the door.
When he was coming up with Fatso earlier, Lin Zhi had noticed a supermarket nearby. He took the elevator and went straight to the supermarket entrance.
He grabbed a large bag of various breads, chicken legs, snacks, and drinks. After scanning the code to pay, Lin Zhi returned to Fatso’s place.
Being eighteen, it was only natural to love snacks. He figured he should let the immortal lady taste the local snacks here.
Forget eating them; she probably hasn't even seen them before, Lin Zhi thought to himself.
Under Fatso’s shocked gaze, Lin Zhi proceeded to devour the various snacks he had bought without pause.
"Burp~"
Lin Zhi let out a burp and patted his slightly protruding belly. Like a lazy cat, he leisurely lay down on the sofa, squinting his eyes happily with his small feet swaying back and forth.
Looking at the graceful figure like a willow tree, the fair and straight ivory-like calves revealed under the long dress, and the tender flower-petal-like feet...
Yang Guo’s eyes lit up. He swallowed hard, and a thought inevitably rose in his mind.
He crept to Lin Zhi’s side and gently shook Lin Zhi’s arm. His round face wore a wretched, fox-like smile.
In a sleazy tone, he said, "Hey, Lin Zhi, we’re good brothers, right?"
Lin Zhi naturally noticed that something was wrong with the Fatso in front of him, but he still answered, "Is that even a question? Of course we are."
Hearing this, a flash of joy appeared in Fatso’s eyes. He rubbed his nose and continued, "Then shouldn't you provide some benefits for your good brother first?"
Seeing Fatso’s wretched expression and the way he was shyly yet secretly peeking at him, Lin Zhi understood instantly.
His expression tightened. Speechless, he curled his body like a shrimp. "Go to hell!" Before the words even landed, he kicked out like a gale.
"Ouch!" Yang Guo was sent tumbling to the floor like a kicked ball, sliding along the smooth surface until his head hit the coffee table, finally coming to a stop.
Lin Zhi didn't stop there. He stood up and delivered a flurry of kicks to Fatso’s backside.
While kicking, he cursed, "I didn't expect you, Yang Fatso, to be this kind of person! Disgusting, foul, utterly wretched!"
"I was wrong, I was wrong! Stop hitting me, I was just joking!"
Yang Guo held his head with one hand and his backside with the other, wailing on the floor. The noise was like a pig being slaughtered.
What was he thinking? Such an idea was unacceptable to Lin Zhi, but if the immortal lady found out, it would truly be a case of hanging yourself like the God of Longevity—tired of living.
She was an immortal!
Under Fatso’s bitter pleading, Lin Zhi finally stopped. He gave the still rolling Fatso a displeased look before pulling him up.
"Holy crap, you really hit hard!"
Fatso rubbed his sore spots, pointing at Lin Zhi with a look of fury like a provoked rooster.
Lin Zhi slapped the pointing finger away. His cold voice softened slightly, but he still spoke seriously. "You’d better be joking. Put away those thoughts. Don't you know the status of this body? She’s an immortal!"
"If she has some way to perceive what’s happening here, you’ve really got a lot of nerve."
Fatso curled his lips, looking scared. He then gave a sheepish smile. "Um, I really was just joking. I’m not that kind of person."
Seeing that it was late and stars had climbed into the night sky, with lights appearing in the surrounding buildings, Fatso spoke again. "It’s late. I’ll head back first. I'll come find you tomorrow, and we can go to the hospital together."
"Don't go back. Sleep here. We’ll go together tomorrow."
Lin Zhi offered for him to stay, and Fatso didn't hesitate much. He stayed over; after all, only Auntie Mei was at home, so he just had to call and let her know.
"Sleep early."
The two washed up. Lin Zhi picked a bedroom, said a word, and walked inside.
Lying on the bed, Lin Zhi gazed at the starry sky outside the window. He wasn't sleepy at all. His mind was replaying today's experiences like a movie.
Faced with the unknown fears of the future, the eighteen-year-old youth felt his heart fluttering with panic for the first time, making it hard to fall asleep.
In the early morning, the sunlight spread over the earth like a golden veil. The bustling streets were currently welcoming the first morning rush.
Lin Zhi hadn't slept all night. Surprisingly, his state was exceptionally good, with no signs of having pulled an all-nighter.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!
Lin Zhi knocked on the opposite bedroom door, the sound as loud as a drumbeat. "Get up, Fatso."
After waiting for half a minute, the door slowly opened. An exhausted Yang Guo stepped out like a disturbed sleeping bear, his hair a mess.
Not yet fully awake, he muttered as he walked out, "Why so early? Can't a guy sleep a bit more?"
His peripheral vision caught Lin Zhi. Despite everything that had happened yesterday, seeing Lin Zhi now still left Yang Guo’s heart struck by shock.
Simply because she was too stunning!
Lin Zhi did a quick wash, put on a white mask, and walked out of the complex with Yang Guo. He waved his hand, and a taxi waiting for passengers sped over, heading toward the hospital.
Although Yang Guo’s family had several cars, neither of them had a driver's license. They only occasionally used them to satisfy a craving for driving. Most of the time, the two of them relied on taxis to get around.
Inside the hospital ward, "Lin Zhi" was staring blankly at the ceiling like a statue, seemingly deep in thought.
The sunlight filtered through the window like scattered gold onto "Lin Zhi." Dressed in white hospital robes, she looked as though she were glowing.
The quiet atmosphere was suddenly broken by the sound of the door opening. Lin Hua turned her head and saw "herself" walking over, still wearing the same clothes as before.
The only difference was that Lin Zhi was wearing a pair of pink slippers. Those were the slippers Auntie Mei had brought out when they went to Fatso’s house yesterday. Seeing that Lin Zhi had no shoes, Yang Guo had made him wear them out.
