Chapter 7 : Chapter 7
Chapter 7 - Transmitting the Cultivation Technique
"Sister Lin Hua, I’ve come to visit you."
Lin Zhi appeared somewhat stiff. Even though they had experienced much together the day before, he still found it difficult to look at "himself" with a calm mind.
Before Lin Hua could speak, Fatso, who was behind Lin Zhi, walked to the bedside and stood at attention like a soldier being inspected.
Looking slightly nervous, he said, "Hello, Immortal Sister. I am Lin Zhi's friend. My name is Yang Guozhu. You can call me Yang Guo, or you can just call me Fatso."
"You haven't had breakfast yet, right? I brought some for you. If there’s nothing here you like, I'll go buy more."
After finishing his sentence, Yang Guo placed the two bags he was carrying—stuffed to the brim—onto the bedside cabinet. He then looked at Lin Hua on the bed with an awkward expression.
He looked exactly like a child who had done something wrong.
Hearing Yang Guo's way of addressing her, a strange smile appeared on Lin Hua's face.
Lin Zhi, however, rolled his eyes and muttered inwardly, "Wow. I was wondering why this guy insisted on buying breakfast before coming to the hospital, and a huge variety at that. I thought he was just hungry."
"Looking at him now, I was too naive. This guy is trying to suck up to the 'Immortal Sister'!"
One couldn't blame Fatso for acting this way; he was feeling extremely guilty.
If the Immortal Sister were to find out about his thoughts yesterday through some magical means, he wouldn't be able to withstand her wrath. He had to curry favor with her immediately.
Besides, even if his previous inappropriate thoughts weren't discovered, building a good relationship with her couldn't be a bad thing.
She was an immortal! If she was in a good mood and performed a small miracle, wouldn't he strike it rich?
Lin Hua looked at the trembling Fatso. Seeing his excess fat shaking along with his body, she found it somewhat amusing for some reason.
Ignoring Fatso's words, Lin Hua closed her eyes and exhaled slowly. "I don't want to stay here any longer."
"That’s easy to handle. I'll go through the discharge procedures later. But you have to put on an act so my parents can rest easy."
"An act?"
"Just show my parents that you’re perfectly fine, and then we can leave," Lin Zhi explained hurriedly.
"No problem. Let’s move now."
With that, Lin Hua sat up and crossed her legs at the edge of the bed.
Lin Zhi quickly had Fatso dial his parents' number. Father Lin, who had just finished getting ready and was about to leave the house, was interrupted by his ringing phone.
After a conversation with his son's childhood friend, Yang Guozhu, and hearing "Lin Zhi" personally claim to be fine, Father Lin abandoned his plan to go to the hospital and agreed to the request over the phone.
At the hospital entrance, once Fatso finished the discharge paperwork, the three of them filed out.
Fatso quickly hailed a taxi. Under Lin Hua's curious gaze, the three of them returned to Yang Guo's home.
Having already stayed for a night, Lin Zhi was familiar with the place. He lightly lifted his white dress with both hands and plopped down onto the sofa the moment he entered.
Lin Hua, meanwhile, was like a curious child, looking left and right, stopping and starting.
Although her expression remained as cold as frost, her eyes were burning with curiosity, completely revealing her inner state.
Seeing this, Yang Guo hurried to Lin Hua's side with a flattering smile, following her every step.
"This is the refrigerator; it's used to store food. This is the toilet; it's for answering nature's call."
Fatso walked along, being quite observant as he introduced everything to Lin Hua.
At the mention of "answering nature's call," Lin Hua's face instantly turned as red as a ripe apple. She glared fiercely at the babbling Yang Guo.
In the middle of the previous night, Lin Hua had suddenly felt the urge. She had cultivated for many years and had long since transcended the cycle of mortal consumption, but after her soul was swapped into Lin Zhi's body, she could not escape the mundane needs.
She couldn't exactly wet her pants. In her helplessness, Lin Hua had crept into the bathroom with a blushing face.
Closing her eyes, she unzipped the pants and used two fingers to pinch and adjust the direction. Only after finishing did she feel a sense of relief.
Now, hearing Yang Guo's words, that embarrassing scene from last night resurfaced in her mind, and Lin Hua couldn't help but glare at him again.
Composing herself, Lin Hua spoke softly, "Now that our souls are displaced and my cultivation has plummeted, it is difficult to find a way to resolve our current predicament immediately. I will need to trouble you for a few more days. Once my cultivation is restored, I will surely compensate you."
Yang Guo beamed. "It’s no trouble at all! Lin Zhi and I are best friends who grew up together. You just rest here with a peaceful mind."
Lin Hua nodded slightly, quite satisfied with Yang Guo's tact. She then turned her gaze to Lin Zhi on the sofa.
Thinking about how another person's soul was currently residing in her body, a hint of bashfulness suddenly crept onto her face.
"Take good care of my body. Do not look at what should not be seen, and do not touch what should not be touched. Do you understand?"
Lin Hua's face was as cold as frost, her tone full of warning.
Lin Zhi replied hurriedly, "Yes, madam!"
Lin Hua's brows furrowed slightly. "Hmm?"
"I mean, I understand! I will definitely comply!"
On the other side of the sofa, Lin Hua slowly crossed her legs, sitting in a meditative posture like an old monk.
"This body of yours has a shallow foundation; I cannot sense any Qi at all. I have a cultivation technique that I used to strengthen my body and attune myself to spiritual energy when I was born. Find me pen and paper, and I will write it down for you to practice."
Lin Zhi was filled with surprise and joy. It turned out there really were cultivation techniques in this world! Did this mean he had hope of becoming an immortal?
He hurriedly fetched pen and paper from the study and sat nearby, holding his breath and waiting quietly.
Lin Hua's brows were tightly knit as she fell into deep thought.
After half an hour with no movement from Lin Hua, Lin Zhi began to wonder. What was wrong with this Immortal Sister? Why was she sitting perfectly still?
Suddenly, Lin Hua's eyes flashed with a brilliant light. Her clothes fluttered slightly, and a faint pressure quietly spread out.
The pen and paper on the table seemed to be granted life. The paper smoothed itself out, and the pen danced across it, writing and drawing.
In a short moment, the paper in front of Lin Zhi was covered in writing. When Lin Hua stopped the pen, Lin Zhi stepped forward quickly.
He picked up the paper and examined it closely. Fatso also hurried over, looking on with focus.
Looking at the paper covered in dense, crooked writing, Lin Zhi saw characters he had never seen before.
There were even some mysterious symbols. Lin Zhi put down the technique and looked at Lin Hua with a depressed face.
"Sister Hua, what would you say is the most important part of a cultivation technique?"
Hearing Lin Zhi's way of addressing her, Lin Hua felt slightly uncomfortable. After a moment of thought, she spoke softly.
"The most important thing is effort. Talent is indeed important, but without persistent effort, it is impossible to achieve great things."
"That’s not right, Sister Hua. Isn't the most important thing about a cultivation technique being able to read it? I don't recognize a single word of what you wrote. Can you teach me?"
Lin Hua's bright eyes seemed to see through Lin Zhi's heart. She smiled faintly. "Very well, I will change the method."
After saying that, Lin Hua raised her hand. Her right index finger bloomed with a brilliant golden light. The ring of light continued to shrink but grew increasingly dazzling, as if compressing some mysterious power.
With a BUZZ, her finger pressed against the center of Lin Zhi's forehead. Before Lin Zhi could react to what was happening, he felt a splitting headache.
He clutched his head with both hands and collapsed onto the sofa as if struck by a heavy blow. It felt as if something had been added to the depths of his soul, slowly taking shape.
"I have transmitted the technique into your memory. You may practice according to it."
After a while, Lin Zhi sat up, rubbing his groggy head. "Holy crap. I’ve just been given a cultivation transmission?"
It seemed the day he would achieve success, marry a beautiful girl, and reach the pinnacle of life was just around the corner.
