VRMMO: World's First Glyphborne

Chapter 193: Time for an Omelette?

"Woah... An Egg..." Vestra muttered, wandering over to the egg disguised as a rock and plucked it from the ground, or at least she tried. The first time she tried to lift it, she couldn’t make it budge in the slightest.

It was bigger than her torso, and weighed nearly three times as much as she did. Its craggy, stone covered exterior was not just a basic disguise, after all.

She squatted down, hooking her hands underneath it and with a strained heave, Vestra lifted it from the ground. Her legs trembled like jelly and her face turned completely red as she constantly huffed and puffed from the strain, as she turned towards them. She took a few struggling steps in her attempt to carry it over, before Lilith laughed softly and took over.

The Hellion took the egg from Vestra’s hands, lifting it with one arm and putting it on her shoulder like it was completely weightless, leaving Vestra to hunch over and heave out lungfuls of air.

Her arms felt like they were made of rubber and she had been stretched across the entire room.

Lilith gave Vestra a subtle wink, causing the girl to break out in a deep blush that was thankfully masked by her red faced exertion. Clearing her throat, Vestra turned to the rest of the group and bashfully brushed her hair behind her ear.

"So what do we want to do with it? Should we eat it? See if we can get some good magic from it? Or maybe sell it and add to the wealth?"

"We can’t eat it. The Beast Lord wouldn’t allow it." Saige chimed in with a serious tone.

"Although they don’t mind us hunting beasts, children of all kinds are strictly off limits."

"I agree. It doesn’t sit right with me to just come in here and kill it..." Figg added with a shy nod.

"Although, It might not survive without its mother, and that’s our fault. Maybe we could leave some food for when it hatches?"

"That just sounds like another Dragon incident waiting to happen." Lilith said

"Well we need to do something with it. If we can’t eat it, and we can’t leave it. Then what?" Vestra said with a sigh.

"Why not tame it?" Belladonna suggested, not looking up from her work. Her eyes were laser focused on the small and intricate embossing she was creating. Beads of sweat dripping down her forehead as she concentrated completely on each and every line, since she didn’t have room to mess up.

"I mean I have Beans as a familiar, and Future boy has his corpses to diddle. I’m surprised none of you have a pet or familiar. It’s the first thing I did as an official mage."

"I do not diddle the undead, thank you very much. But she is right. It’s possible to tame the Whelp if you know the right ritual spell, which I do."

"Wait, It’s not just Rangers who can get a pet?" Vestra asked

"Common misconception, but no. They are one of the few classes that can take adults as pets, along with druids. Anyone can do it with infants or eggs, such as with a Dragon." Revenant answered.

"Speaking of Dragons, I gave you the information, now give me what is mine." He added with a scowl, reaching his hand out and making a grasping gesture towards Belladonna.

She rolled her eyes, removing the Dragon Heart from her back, and hoping that it didn’t get too squashed by Vestra when she had been riding piggyback, before tossing it to Revenant. Doing it all with one hand and still not taking her eyes off of her work as she went right back to it once she was free.

A rare smile spread across Revenant’s face as he lovingly stroked the Dragon’s Heart in his hands. The smile alone would have been creepy, but that just took the cake.

Thankfully he didn’t spend too long stroking his ’precious’ and instead got right to work setting up his own ritual, while the remaining four glanced at each other awkwardly.

They all agreed that taming the Dragon was the best move. It aligned with all of their goals and stopped anyone getting in trouble with their gods or the spirit of nature or whatever. The only issue was... who got the new pet?

Every one of them had their own valid reasons for wanting it. A healer on a dragon was mobile and protected, a tank could use it for extra defence or attack, the druid was perfect for animals and Vestra really wanted one. She also claimed to have found it first.

All equally good reasons, which meant that they ultimately came down to rock, paper, scissors. They split into pairs, duelled each other to the best of three, then the winners fought against each other.

Vestra lost to Lilith and Figg lost to Saige, pitting the engaged couple up against each other for the ultimate prize.

You might think that, to please his fiancee that Saige would intentionally lose to Lilith and allow her to have the Dragon. But that sorely underestimated Saige’s competitive side.

Letting someone else win was never a thought in his mind, to the point that he even tried to distract her with a brush of his tail and a flicker of his ears. Hoping that a cuteness overload would net him the win.

But while Lilith might not have been a professional gamer, she was a people person at heart and there was one person she understood most of all.

It was an absolute slaughter. Two rounds was all she needed, and no amount of cuteness or love could stop her.

"HAHA! The Scaled Fluffy is mine!" Lilith shouted, holding the egg high above her head.

"Congratulations," Belladonna said with a smile, standing up and finally pulling her attention away from her work.

"Here is your prize. Well... your other prize, I mean."

She put the pouch inside in once again, and quickly fixed the strings, before placing her hand against the raised section of the leather. With a quick channel of mana, the Glyph took effect.

The inside of the pouch glowed briefly with a rich purple light, as if it contained a nebula inside of it, before the light was sucked back inside and the interior of the pouch turned pitch black.

No matter the angle you looked inside from, nor where you held the light, it was always pure black.

With a smile on her face, Belladonna slipped her hand inside of the pouch and pushed it down... and down... and down. Into the pouch that was only a small touch larger than her clenched fist, Belladonna sunk her entire arm. All the way up to the shoulder, so that it looked like she had only a leather covered stump left.

"So, who wants the upgrade next?" She asked with a wide, manic grin that overflowed with pride.
