Caelan’s POV

I was dying to see my little mate. Since Casper came back with her scent on him, I couldn’t get my mind to think straight.

I wanted to see what she looked like. How she behaved, and get to know her.

So, when Casper asked me to accompany him to her birthday, I didn’t hesitate.

Although I didn’t show my enthusiasm, I didn’t pretend not to want to go either.

I even got her a valuable birthday present.

Since I knew nothing about her likes and dislikes, I chose a universal present that young girls like on top of the main gift.

Also, after knowing that she was only turning eighteen, I took care not to dress too sharply like I always do and put on something more casual.

I had to do a lot of research on what young girls like.

So, I went with casual suit pants and a black shirt with my sleeves folded to my forearms and the top button undone.

This way, I would look younger and more approachable.

When we got near her house, I could already smell her scent from a couple miles away.

It was overwhelming how I could smell her from so far away.

The closer we got, the more intoxicating her scent got.

I had to take a deep breath and give Alaric some pep talk to prevent him from pouncing on her and scaring her away once we saw her.

I could tell that Alaric was already getting restless.

Especially when we arrived in front of her house and she walked out looking like a little angel with a mug in hand.

She was the most beautiful thing I have ever laid my eyes on and she looked so innocent I wanted to destroy her.

Alaric nearly went crazy when he saw the sweet smile she gave Casper.

I had to take a moment before getting out of the car to talk to him.

"Remember what Alma said? We can’t force her or do anything that went against her wishes. We have to win her over first." I reminded him.

"I remember, but I just want to claim her here and now. I have waited for so long..." Alaric complained.

"I know that. I want to hold her in my arms more than anything, but you already know what she’s been through. You also know that we can’t force her or the consequences aren’t something we can bear. So, you have to hold yourself back once we go out. Don’t scare her." I urged Alaric, who calmed down a bit.

"I understand. Haste makes waste. It’s just that when I think that she is mated to someone else using underhanded tricks, it makes me so angry I want to tear someone apart." Alaric complained.

"That’s why we have to take it slow. You can see that she is still pure, unmarked, and unclaimed. So, nothing has happened between them despite the bond. So, we have to be even more careful. If she can resist that other guy even with the bond present, she can exit us from her life without any problem. So, be careful not to show any aggressive side to her." I really didn’t want to mess this up.

So, I spent some time in the car talking to Alaric.

Once I was ready, I stepped out of the car, but my little mate’s reaction surprised me.

When she saw me, I saw the shock on her face as if she had seen a ghost.

I wondered for a moment if I was so scary, until Casper asked her if she knew me and she absent-mindedly replied that she had seen me in her dream.

I didn’t know how to react to that. We had never met before, yet she had seen me in her dream.

And from her reaction, it wasn’t a simple dream, so she was obviously not lying.

Then, was this the hidden mate bond at work?

Even though some people had gone to great lengths to change her mate, the mate bond that the moon goddess personally bestowed was still trying to bring us together in different ways.

Thinking of this, a shallow smile appeared on my lips.

’Then, I should definitely show myself in front of her more often.’ I thought to myself.

I believe that if we keep coming into contact with each other, the mate bond might awaken and also it might weaken the forced bond.

Thinking of this, I lowered myself and picked up the gifts I had prepared and walked over to join Casper, who was still stunned near the door.

"Are you going in or not?" I asked casually.

"Hey, are you not surprised that she said she saw you in a dream? Why do you look so happy about it?" Casper turned to me and asked curiously.

"Don’t ask for now. When the time is right, I will tell you." Even though I trust Casper, the matter with my mate was too sensitive and I couldn’t just say it casually to anyone.

If it was heard by the wrong ears, my mate might be in danger or the entire werewolf race.

So, no matter how much I trusted Casper, I couldn’t tell him yet.

"Alright then. I guess you have your reasons for this. Let’s go in then. That girl is still too young and shy. I guess I will have to play the role of a mentor now to get her to show her face." Casper said with a doting smile as if she was his granddaughter.

That kind of look made me want to punch him.

She was his future Luna, yet he treated her like a granddaughter. Then what will happen when we finally acknowledge our mate bond?

I was irritated by that thought alone, but I also knew that I couldn’t expose myself for now.

So, I could only endure it in silence.

I will definitely get my revenge in the future.
