Chapter 135: Unexplained Feelings
Valerie’s POV
I hid under the blanket for a few minutes before Lizzie spoke to me.
"No one knows what you dreamed about. So why are you giving yourself away by hiding?"
"You don’t understand. I feel like I just suffered social death. How could I admit that I saw that man in my dream? It’s so embarrassing." I replied, feeling angry at myself.
"I don’t think they found it embarrassing. They probably just think you guys have a special connection since you can even dream about each other before meeting." Lizzie tried to convince me.
"But what special connection could there be for me to dream about someone I have never met?" I asked Lizzie.
I knew that she wouldn’t mention something about a special connection out of thin air.
She must have her reasons for that.
"Don’t ask too many questions for now. Just get along well with him. You will find out in the future." Lizzie started being mysterious again.
I can’t do anything to her when she behaves like that. So, I just stopped asking.
Anyway, when the time comes, I will find out.
For now, I needed to go out and be a good host. It was the first time I was hosting people at home. So I needed to be more welcoming.
Thinking of this, I pushed the blanket back and took out my phone.
I ordered a bunch of groceries so that I could cook a presentable meal for my guests before rising up from the bed.
I was about to leave the bedroom when a knock came from the door.
"Val, are you okay?" It was Shadow’s voice.
I instantly felt my face heat up again, but then I remembered Lizzie’s words.
’It’s not like anyone knows what you dreamed about.’
Yes, that was right. No one knew what kind of dream I had, so why should I feel embarrassed?
After convincing myself, I took a deep breath and went to open the door.
"Hey Shadow. Sorry about that. I was just shocked. Let’s go down." I composed myself and acted like a host.
"Okay." Shadow didn’t dwell on what I had said before and led me downstairs.
I was surprised to find the man from my dream sitting on the sofa in my living room looking like he owned the place.
His presence was so overwhelming and for some reason, just looking at him made my heart race in a way that even Mike never did.
"Valerie, get a grip on yourself. You have a mate." I had to remind myself before I forced myself to look away.
I took a deep breath before walking towards him.
"Hello, sorry about earlier. I am Valerie Jude. Welcome to my humble home." I introduced myself and stretched out my hand for a handshake.
However, I had not anticipated what happened next.
The moment our hands touched, a jolt of electricity passed through our hands and my body instantly went weak.
I almost fell to the ground if the man hadn’t shot up from the sofa and held me up.
Unfortunately for me, the moment he wrapped his arm around me to stop me from falling, my body just became like a pile of water.
Slippery and useless.
I couldn’t stand up straight anymore.
Luckily, the man was a gentleman and he seemed to understand my situation. He placed me on the sofa slowly and carefully as if he was handling a treasure.
He treated me with more care and respect than Mike has ever done.
"Are you okay?" He asked me with furrowed brows.
I could see the concern in his eyes and it was definitely not fake.
He was really worried about me.
"I am fine. Don’t worry." I didn’t know how to explain what just happened. So, I could only pretend it didn’t happen and not mention it.
Lucky for me, the man also didn’t dig into it and just took the sofa opposite from mine, keeping a respectful distance.
This helped me to recover faster even though just the sight of him made my heart race.
After I regained my strength, I got up and went to prepare tea for the guests.
"Please have some tea first. I will cook lunch soon." I said as I served tea to the two men now sitting in my living room.
"Thank you." The man from my dream said as he took the tea cup from my hand.
Our hands brushed against each other and I almost let go of the cup from the spark of electricity that ran through me again.
Fortunately, the man moved his hand away quickly and I managed to keep my dignity.
I couldn’t understand what was going on with me.
Even when Mike touched me before and kissed me, I have never felt this way.
So, what was happening between me and that man?
The man looked too composed and I couldn’t tell if he was also affected by my touch the same way he did to me.
And I couldn’t just ask about it openly.
So, I could only keep guessing.
"Don’t worry about it too much." Lizzie suddenly said to me.
"How could I not worry? My body is behaving very strangely. I am worried that something is wrong with me." I complained.
Lizzie sometimes acted so mysterious I couldn’t understand her.
She was my wolf, but she had more secrets than a graveyard.
I just hoped that one day she would tell me all of them.
"Nothing is wrong with you. What is happening now is perfectly normal. You will understand one day. Just, don’t ask questions now." Lizzie said to me and I had to drop the issue.
I wasn’t gonna get anything out of her, anyway.
While I spaced out talking to Lizzie, I could feel the stranger’s eyes on me. However, he made sure not to stare for too long. Probably afraid that he would make me uncomfortable and I appreciated that.
Just then, the door bell rang and I knew my groceries had arrived.
