Remarriage Failed Again Today

Chapter 704: He Is Not Her One and Only

He’d always thought she wasn’t that fond of him.

He never imagined she would secretly do these things to touch him.

Her perpetually calm and collected demeanor had always made him feel like she didn’t truly care about him, but that wasn’t the case at all.

Annabelle Linton had always been the type to act rather than speak. She would treat you well but would never make a show of it. What she didn’t realize was that this approach was all the more touching.

Leona Grant swiped through the photos one by one. Her phone didn’t even have a hundred pictures on it, but over seventy of them were of him.

There were pictures of him working, pictures of him eating, pictures of him sleeping, and even pictures of him looking unhappy.

As he was scrolling, two photos of Aaron Wyatt at the bottom of the album caught his eye...

A pang of pain shot through Leona Grant’s heart, swift and fierce, completely washing away every last bit of joy and happiness he’d been feeling.

He didn’t understand why he was reacting this way. She had just over a hundred photos in total. Seventy percent were of him, while only two percent were of Aaron Wyatt. Yet he began to panic, to feel a bitter ache, to become unhappy.

He didn’t like this side of himself, but he wanted her to be his and his alone.

The thought that she had once been with Aaron Wyatt made his heart ache with a solid, unbearable pain.

It turned out he wasn’t her one and only, nor was he the first person she had treated this way.

’Her phone didn’t just have pictures of him. Her heart hadn’t belonged only to him. Her tenderness hadn’t been reserved for him alone.’

And yet, he had given her everything. The place she held in his heart was so high that he himself felt a pang of jealousy.

Leona Grant handed the phone back to her, no longer interested in looking through it. "Is there anywhere in particular you want to go?" he asked coolly.

Annabelle Linton sensed the shift in his mood almost instantly, but she couldn’t understand the reason for it.

’Could it be because I secretly took pictures of him?’

’Surely not?’

Annabelle Linton put her phone away and said with a smile, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing."

’Annabelle Linton loves me so much now. It wouldn’t be right for me to be suspicious of anything.’

A maid brought them breakfast, and the two of them spoke as they ate.

"I’m not going to the office today. I’m staying home just to spend the day with you. Is there anywhere in particular you’d like to go?"

Annabelle Linton didn’t know. ’Maybe there is, maybe there isn’t. Just being with him is enough. It doesn’t matter where we go.’

"Let’s eat first," she said. "We can decide after."

"Alright."

The atmosphere wasn’t bad, but it felt inexplicably heavy, lacking its usual warmth and coziness.

Annabelle Linton watched him. He showed no outward sign of being upset, eating his breakfast with his usual elegance.

’Is it my imagination?’ Annabelle Linton didn’t think so.

’I’ve known him for over twenty years. If I can’t even tell when he’s angry, what’s the point?’

Annabelle Linton carefully thought it over. He seemed to have changed right after looking at her phone. ’So, the problem must be in the photo album?’

Annabelle Linton didn’t use her phone much, aside from occasionally reading the news, so she had no idea there were pictures of Aaron Wyatt on it. Or perhaps, she had simply forgotten.

Just as she was about to open the album to check, a call came in.

Annabelle Linton answered. It was the director of the local orphanage, calling to invite her to the children’s birthday celebration today.

The children at the orphanage, being without parents, didn’t know their own birthdays, so they all celebrated together on the same day.

In fact, Annabelle Linton had been a long-term benefactor of this particular orphanage.
