Chapter 632: Get Out, OK? 8
’This guy... he usually seems so cold and domineering, but deep down, he’s actually so innocent. He’s like a child who gets fixated on the little things.’
’What a brooder.’
Annabelle looked at him and said seriously, "Leona Grant, I don’t like this side of you."
Leona Grant turned to look at her.
She sighed, her voice a complicated mix of frustration and complaint. "You’re always like this. You get upset and sulk all by yourself. The moment you’re unhappy, you just clam up. You never tell me why, just leaving me to spend all day guessing what you’re thinking. Do you have any idea how exhausting that is? You..."
Leona Grant’s heart clenched as he watched her nervously.
Seeing his anxious expression, a flicker of amusement flashed in Annabelle’s eyes. She quickly suppressed it, pursing her lips before saying calmly, "I’m tired. I’m going to head back. Please tell the others for me. Let’s not see each other for a while. We both need to cool off."
With that, she turned to leave.
Seeing her about to walk away, Leona Grant grew anxious and quickly wrapped his arms around her from behind.
Annabelle tried to push him away, but he clung to her like an octopus, refusing to let go. Still, he said nothing.
Annabelle pushed him again, but he wouldn’t release his grip.
’So cute...’
The corners of Annabelle’s lips tilted up, but she deliberately kept her voice cold. "Leona Grant, stop this. I’m in a bad mood right now. I need some space to cool off."
Leona Grant didn’t release her. After a moment of silence, he said sullenly, "I’m sorry..."
"..." Annabelle remained silent.
He held her for another moment before turning her around to face him. He then sat down in a chair, positioning Annabelle to stand before him.
Then he wrapped his arms around her waist, rested his face against her chest, and mumbled dejectedly, "It’s all my fault. I put you through so much in the past..."
It suddenly dawned on Annabelle. So, it was what Ashley Grant had said that had made him so dejected.
’This silly fool.’
She sat down beside him and said with a sigh of resignation, "You’re overthinking things again. How could any of that be your fault? Besides, I never blamed you for any of it."
Leona Grant looked at her, his expression complex, and suddenly said, "Annabelle Linton, you’re wonderful."
"..." ’What does he mean by that?’
Leona Grant sighed and said dejectedly, "You’re too good. Your personality, your looks, your talent, your intelligence... you’re the most amazing woman I’ve ever met. Sometimes, when I look at you, I suddenly feel like I don’t deserve you..."
"..."
...For a split second, Annabelle thought she was talking to the wrong person.
’Doesn’t deserve me? Me?’
’Is he joking?’
Annabelle looked up at him, and her gaze met his melancholic eyes. Only then did she realize he wasn’t joking at all.
’Just how deeply has this man’s fragile heart been wounded?’
She chuckled lightly. "Are you trying to make enemies for me? You’re the ’Nation’s Husband,’ the dream of every woman in Lynton. How could you possibly not be good enough for me?"
"What I mean is..."
Annabelle covered his mouth with her hand. "I know. I know what you’re trying to say. But don’t let your mind run wild like this anymore, okay?"
"..."
"We’re a married couple. That makes us family. And family doesn’t talk to each other like strangers. When you think like this, aren’t you just trying to push me away?"
"I..." Leona Grant started to say, but trailed off.
Annabelle kissed his lips. "It’s all in the past. Can we please not dwell on it anymore?"
"Dwelling on it will only hurt our relationship."
’That’s right,’ he thought. ’It’s all in the past. What’s the point of dwelling on it?’
Leona Grant looked at her for a long moment, then the corners of his lips lifted into a smile. "Okay," he said.
He then pulled Annabelle onto his lap, took out his phone, and snapped a few pictures while kissing her.
Annabelle was confused. "What are you doing?"
"You’ve been taking pictures with other people all day. Now it’s my turn."
Leona Grant held her and kept snapping photos, adding a warning, "And another thing. Stay away from Ashley Grant from now on. I’ve always suspected there’s something off about her orientation. I don’t want you two ending up having a thing."
Annabelle: "..."
